But with the F-C-alkylation we get several products because of the multiple alkylation/ activation of the Ring. Thats not the right way. You have to acylate benzene and then reduce the substituent with a Wolff-Kishner or Clemmensen reduction.

SaInTDomagos To solve this problem you could just write 1 equivalent of your catalyst with an excess of benzene so >10 equivalents, and that would still be correct.

A Gattermann-Koch reaction on benzene would give you benzaldehyde and it would be better to oxidize this directly to benzoic acid rather than reduce (Wolff-Kishner/Clemmensen) then oxidize, thus saving a step. An alternative method would be Benzene ---> Bromobenzene ---> Phenylmagnesium bromide and quench with carbon dioxide.
