I used to be a huge Ariana Grande fan for a really long time but the whole cheating scandal made me see the type of person she is and I haven’t supported her since. She changes her whole way of speaking and mannerisms depending on the project she’s working on and it just feels so fake. I totally get dressing up as the character, or changing your style to fit the album concept but also changing your whole personality is crazy and lowkey scary. I didn’t know Cynthia before Wicked but the way she reacted to that fanart poster already tells me enough about her. The reason her and Ariana get along so well is cause they’re the same type of person, actresses who can’t stop acting, who in reality are just very shallow and arrogant. Maybe I’m being harsh but I personally know actors who are like this and all the signs are pointing to them being like that too. Any job in the spotlight will attract these types of people, Hollywood is filled with them, some just hide it better.
@JKat9416 күн бұрын
just saying, changing your voice depending on your project makes sense from a professional standpoint because you have to protect your voice. The way she has to sing for wicked (waaay up there in soprano) needs to be supported, it's a thing many professional singers do.

@@JKat94she’s not talking about her singing. She changes her entire personality/identity based on who she’s dating or friends with & it comes across as very forced & fake. @RookieAssassin16 күн бұрын
@@JKat94Like I said in my original comment, it’s not just her voice. She changes accents, the words she uses, her body language, literally everything. Just look up Ariana Grande blaccent and tell me that was necessary for her album lol. And that’s just one of her many personas. As a former fan I’ve been watching her since I was a kid and she was still making cover videos on youtube. Ever since she broke through as a singer she’s been a whole different person pretty much everytime she brought out a new album. If you really think she only changes her voice pitch you need to look at some interviews throughout her career, the differences are too big to miss.

The best way to understand holding space is therapy. In therapy, your therapist is essentially holding space for you the client to think/feel/react in a way that feels authentic. It helps to build a way to process complex emotions/situations without interference or disruptions. We can learn to hold space for ourselves or for people in our life. Now that being said i dont know what these 2 are talking about... holding space for defying gravity? You mean listening to it? Why not just say that?? Im tired y'all

The press/interviews to watch are the ones with the people behind the camera: the costume designer, set designer, hair/make-up, choreographer, director, songwriter. That stuff is super cool because this is a huge project and they have a lot to say about how they created this whole world and brought it to screen. The supporting actors are also fine to watch. It's Cynthia and Ariana that are exhausting to watch during interviews. Loved the movie but I've had to stop watching the press for it with those two because it's so bad.

To me, I see both sides. I read that this was a dream role for Ariana grande since she was like 10?? If I finished the movie and doing press tour and it all sinking in I would definitely be emotional too. And how this apparently took 3 years of really hard work, time, energy etc. You can tell they put their hearts and souls into it, and I heard it’s a great adaptation. HOWEVERRRRR having her and Cynthia get very emotional for EVERY INTERVIEW can definitely be excessive. Cynthia seems like she’s not ready mentally to have such a big platform, she’s sounding like she doesn’t have a strong sense of self (especially with the whole fan art thing) at best and at worst sounds like she’s only carrying on that way to get compliments and validations from people.

As a theatre nerd who still does community theatre in her early 30s - this is just how theatre nerds are tbh. The overwhelming joy you feel after doing a show and then reminiscing over it with your cast mates is always heartwarming and can make you feel emotional. It is hard work and we work so closely together for hours upon hours, through laughter, frustrations, sweat and tears and then the show happens and you’re on this huge rush and adrenaline and when it’s over there’s an overwhelming low because all we’ve experienced together is over and post-show blues are absolutely a real thing. Though I gotta agree and say Cynthia and Ariana should chill a little lol the movie has been filmed and done filming for a while now 😅

I’ve purposely stayed away from the press interviews , because I want to see the film without it tainting my moviegoing experience . Especially since the whole fiasco with Cynthia making a fuss about a fan poster where she felt “erased” because it covered some of her face like the original poster 🙄

My dad just recently passed away and while I have been crying a lot, I still have to manage my feelings to some level so I can function and go back to work and help support my mom. I literally don't have the luxury to cry and shut down all the time. If I did i think I'd just be non functional. Also the fact they're crying so much over a movie... idk it's not like they did a holocaust movie or something.

You're on point!! This is my favorite video on this shii show. Literally, every part I was just sitting her nodding my head and sayin "yes yes"!! You absolutely said it perfectly!! Thank you!! 🥰🥰🤟🏻🤟🏻

it's not as much the crying that bothers me, but it seems like most of the clips i see from this press tour is ariana speaking over cynthia..maybe i'm wrong but i'll be holding space for that observation in the meantime 😂😂

Regarding the crying I think context is very important. This is the most i've seen Cynthia cry doing interviews however Ariana has been crying in interviews or fighting tears for years now. She herself says she's a very emotional cancer and this was her dream role since she was a child. They clearly both care about this project a lot and have said in interviews they have found healing in playing these roles-if you watched more than 2 interviews you would have seen them say that many times. I really don't get what the big deal is, they are just crying. Not hurting anyone with their tears.

The interviews with Cynthia and Ariana were just uncomfortably raw in my opinion. They felt like a therapy session- not a press interview.

Yes, only without the therapist there to help them organise their thoughts and reflect it comes out as jumbled emotions and word salad.

I’ve seen a fuck tonne of people break it down to Arianna and Cynthia basically getting very close, too quickly, going through an ED together and being so honest, probably a lotta drugs (cocaine would be a main one I’d think) for the long haul shoots, the energy you’d need and especially with EDs equalling the lack of energy, vitamin and energy starved brains etc. Imo the whole thing just gives off very ‘toxic for each other in the long run’ kind of vibes 😭

I will say, if you're already a big fan of the stage musical, please don't let the press tour detur you from seeing the movie!! I'm super cynical and the press tour made me worried the movie would be just as strange, but it's actually a great adaptation of the stage show. I didn't expect to like it anywhere near as much as I did!!

They take themselfs WAAAY to serious, like they are soo knowledgeable, philosophic, talated and on some high level we mortals just cant understand 😂 And to be a lil serious, After CHYNTIA totally pissed on fan who done nothing more that made a cool fan edit of the promo art (she literaly only added another colour to her lips and a cool dark shade to hide the eyes to match the ORIGINAL storys older promo pic) and was a total mean girl and racism and shiz when it was nothing more than an innocent fan edit (NOTHING was changed that would be bad like body features, skin colour etc, nothing at all like that) i have totally lost a big part of my respect for her and she feels very performative.. like ariana haha 😅

I think Ariana was responding to fan comments about Galinda and Elphaba being in love, but in the end, it is a love story between these two women. It’s very much about their bond.

I just saw the movie Wicked yesterday and it was fantastic. Their chemistry and performances were amazing. I'm not even going to lie, it brought me to tears in some places. Definitely one of the best musical movies I've seen in awhile. That being said, though, watching their interviews feels so off and weird. I constantly keep asking myself if they are okay. I advise people to just not pay attention to these interviews or the press and just focus on the movie and the music.

I'll be perfectly honest, I dislike (as an actress) Ariana Grande, but I cannot stand Cynthia Erivo (as an actress). I knew from the minute they announced the cast for this movie that it was going to be terrible, and all the drama around it has not convinced me otherwise. One thing that really irked me is that the role of Elphaba was written by Jewish songwriters/musical directors and has very deep Jewish roots. Idina Menzel is Jewish. The character in the musical is heavily Jewish coded. Hell, even the classic green skinned, hooked nosed wicked witch with the black pointy hat comes from Jewish stereotypes. And instead of embracing that, they gave it to an actress who has no connection to being Jewish or to the character in general, and she's made playing Elphaba more about herself than about the character
@NotAnotherKuromi16 күн бұрын
Yeah I haven't seen many people discuss this, or if they do people are quick to accuse them of not liking black people or diversity, despite it being Jewish diversity which was erased. I also really dislike how Erivo has made this about herself too, although Grande seems to have done the same thing. Erivos reply to the poster edit about erasing her, while stupid, was also a reflection of the fact that she seems to see Elphaba or a reflection of herself, rather than a character that she is supposed to be inhabiting. She seems extremely self absorbed and conceited.

The movie itself was very emotional. I had a hard time holding back tears through the entirety, they did a great job putting full emotion into their characters and Ariana brought the greatest humor to it. I highly recommend giving it a shot, press tour aside. And if you do, I’d love to hear about your thoughts after watching it.

Holding space in therapy context is in reference to being present, being able to be something that can hold space for someone who needs a "safe space". So when people say they are holding space for defying gravity, is rather than just listening to the song they are being present and actively engaging in the content and the context of the music for the deeper meaning. Which honestly in the day and age where nobody has an attention span longer than 10 seconds due to technology, i think the holding space trend is great. And funny

In my personal opinion, they’re both emotional theatre kids who just went through a grueling process playing the role of a lifetime. The movie is very emotional and it took a long time to make. A lot of time spent together. I’m sure they’re very tired. That’s how I see it.
