In my humble opinion been to these churches feels like a live concert with bright lights nice buildings usually majority of members are well off, what I've noticed after a while nothing against them personally it that many of members in the church I visited miss the essence of reading bible ( although not every one in building some actually do read it). I was bombarded with text messages left and right was told to do service/ role, go to a small group even though these churches seem large at service the people you actually get to know is actual fact very very small maybe a handful at best, many of people I meet only knew on first name basis. During multiple services ( can't make an humble opinion off one service alone) I saw speaking in jibbish saw people uncontrollably shaking nearly having fit on the ground, services were predominantly tailored towards marriage, parenting, church giving to the actual church yet saw next to no actual missionaries like helping the needy only actually saw to advance their own church corp agenda. ( not saying all charismatic churches like this just purely only on what I saw). I joined a small group the group ( it was okay at times the people would be annoyed) I volunteered my time ( Church premises tidy up next to no one spoke about Jesus or talked about anything Christ or their walk with Christ). Last visit to the church was Easter 🐇 I thought to myself surely these members of the church would know Easter sadly was mistaken many of members whilst in a recorded for all to see where asked " Do you know meaning of Easter?" Many of the church members answered " He died on the cross" I thought that's what he did for us not what's the meaning of Jesus. I didn't bother returning the church after the Easter Service found another church that's more humble and welcoming using far more scripture based no live concert strobe lights and yes I even get to chat and get to know the fellow members properly. That's just my humble opinion of course of charismatic churches.

I live in Indonesia and often other Christians (especially traditional reformed) look down on Charismatic churches, viewing their theology as shaky and their clergy as uneducated megachurch type gold diggers. I often do too, to be honest, but I must have to admit they are by far the most successful I have ever seen in terms of soul winning/ministering to non-chirstians. Far more vigorous than the more traditional/conservative denominations.

There was a man who had been away on a journey and had then come back home. He strutted about town, talking loudly and at great length about the brave deeds he had accomplished in the various lands he had visited. In Rhodes, the man said, he had jumped such a long jump that no man alive could equal it, and he claimed that there were witnesses who could back up his story. A bystander then remarked, 'Alright! If you're telling the truth, here is your Rhodes: go on and jump!' The fable shows that talking is a waste of time when you can simply provide a demonstration. Aesops fables. I was Methodist and decided to go to a charasmatic church. I was babtised in water full emersion and received the babtism of the holy spirit. I loved my church but after a year it's like I don't exist. Pastors chop and change annually and new people are coming and leave after a few months and you don't see them again. I noticed that any course you want to do you have to pay for it Same after church. There are no eats or drinks unless you pay for it so you don't get anything unless you bring out your wallet. There is no transportation for the elderly to get to church. And the church is held in warehouse type buildings. Unconcecrated ground is being used for their gatherings. I am serious about finding a different church, maybe go back where I came from. I am very grateful for them but I feel lost and I miss our old biblical hymns. To much rock and roll type music I can't bere all the time. Some order peace and quiet in a church is the foundation of knowing what is Holy and what isn't. My personal testimony and experience.

Yes, as Paul said, 'walk in love and seek the spiritual gifts'. (1 Corinthians 14:1) If one demonstrates the gifts but is not showing the fruit of the Spirit as well, especially love, then we should beware of the person speaking. But if the person demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit, particularly love for the Lord Jesus and for other people, and also has the spiritual gifts, then one can be more assured. False religion leads to the works of the flesh, such as pride, greed, envy, strife, hate, immorality, idolatry, etc.

@@ntlearning Thanks for your thoughts and pleasant words, I appreciate that. It is not a Christian thing to hate other people, Christian or not, but to love etc, as you know. The powerless Christianity is a true observation, and certainly is a spiritual deficiency, as Tozer once said, the Holy Spirit may be gone from a church for 5 years and still no one notices. Nevertheless, false spirituality is just as harmful. The Bible is sufficient for all of us, so we have no need of new revelation. Flight is an amazing design of God, even the feather is incredible, but your dove analogy doesn't work, nor is it Biblical. We are known clearly by the work the Holy Spirit does in us, the fruits, to change us, make us more like Jesus etc., not by the supernatural gifts he gives us. These were authenticating signs of the Apostles and prophets who are the foundation of the church, proving them to be genuine servants of God, as opposed to all the fakery and magicians at the time. The foundation was laid long ago, and we have no excuse for trying to add to it.

@@colleenrader1789 Hi Colleen, are you asking is Catch the Fire self-governing? I go there and can tell you that all of the big decisions do get made by the staff. For instance the church I went to before Catch the Fire was a Southern Baptist Church called Summit Church and at Summit Church every time the staff wanted to raise funds or go into debt to purchase new property if you were a member of the Summit Church you would get to vote. At the Summit you became a member by going through a process and elders would meet with you for I believe it was three weeks and then you became a member. For Catch the Fire it is a lot more informal and you become a member by simply saying in your heart that you are a member. Joining the Catch the Fire family is easy.
@Everest-mp8wr Жыл бұрын
@@colleenrader1789 Now Catch the Fire is autonomous when it comes to finances. You don't get to vote if you are a member. They will eventually show you how the money is distributed, but when those conversations come up they just tell you how the money is being divided in the church you don't get a vote on how it is spent. Let's say they wanted to purchase a new building the paid staff may talk about it and may get to vote, I don't know. However, I can tell you that if the church staff wanted to buy a new building they most likely wouldn't ask for any of the other non-paid members consent they would just buy it.

Speaking in Tongues is a Holy Spirit mystery. As Paul said: "I thank God, I speak in tongues more than all of you." I also like it because Cessationists hate ecuminism. The Charismatic movement has brought many churches closer together.

@@ntlearning I find it interesting how this branch of Christianity loves to cherry pick the Bible completely out of context. The verse you quote continues: "Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue." Also glossing over that earlier in the chapter Paul stated this: "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself" and "Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.". By the end of Corinthians it is clear that these were 'gifts of the early church'.
@ntlearning Жыл бұрын
@@stingrae789 This branch? You mean every denomination including yours? Cessationists are the worst cherry pickers of all. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10: Cessationists interpret this passage, which says that prophecies, tongues, and knowledge will cease "when the perfect comes," as referring to the completion of the biblical canon or the maturity of the church. More reasonable people including more scholars argue that "the perfect" refers to the second coming of Christ and the completion of God's kingdom, which hasn't occurred yet. While tongues were indeed prominent in the early church, there is no definitive scriptural evidence suggesting they were exclusive to that period. The promise of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:39 is for "all whom the Lord our God will call," without time limitation. Since Christ has not returned, the continuation of these gifts aligns with the expectation of His return.

It was part of church history until the Dark Ages, when true Christians were killed by the Church. Oddly enough, the very churches that conducted the Inquisition and such purges of those who believe the Bible over Approved Orthodoxy were in a position to purge the truth of this in favor of their "history" of the Church and are still the biggest denominations today. @@johngregory4801 I believe you’re conflating the Catholic Church with Christianity. The RCC has another gospel. To say that the continuation of the apostolic gifts such as speaking in tongues (which demonstrated by scripture must be an actual other language that someone else in attendance can indeed understand), prophesy, and direct healing were part of orthodoxy in biblically grounded Christians isn’t actually supported by church history at large and it’s the same biblical inerrancy and sufficiency of scripture which quashes these arguments of tongues, prophesy, and direct healing. If it is by scripture alone, scripture eliminates the current movements practices on its own. Additionally to believe, much less be a proponent that up until the dark ages there was this then lost ‘true’ stream of Christians that were suddenly rediscovered in the 1950’s isn’t just intellectually dishonest, it’s definitionally gnostic as well.

There is only one Baptism in which as Christians we are Baptized in our Lord Jesus's death in which we are saved. The three types of Baptism is one in accord as taught by the Catholic Church. The first is the Baptism by water which is a Sacrament of the Church in which the catechumen becomes a member of the Church a Christian. When you are Baptized you become a new creature. The second is the Baptism by blood which is martyrdom. If a catechumen wasn't Baptized by water as part of Christian initiation into the Church because the died for the faith they are a martyr for the faith sacrificing themselves for our Lord Jesus. The third is the Baptism by the desire to be with God. Originally as it only addressed for the catechumen if they were to be Baptized by water and died before they could it would be their desire to be with God which would save them. Later this was addressed for Non-Christians who were ignorant of our Lord Jesus, His Gospel, and His Church as being such living according to His Commandments desiring to be with God they would be Baptized by their desire to be with God at the moment of their death. The Church originally didn't focus on what happens with Non-Christians otherwise the Unbaptized after death and many held negative views on the subject that they weren't saved as Scripture makes it clear you have to be Baptized to be saved. It's like the righteous in the Limbo of the Fathers our Lord Jesus preached to them His Gospel as such they were Baptized by their desire to be with Him when He risen on the third day. We called this event the Harrowing of Hell. In the Apostles Creed, "He descended into Hell". So the only type of Baptism in which a person would know if they have been saved is the Baptism by water as a Christian.

Meh. It wasn't for anyone at Cornelius' house in Acts 10, but it was for the Samarians who believed and were baptized by Phillip in Acts 8 - only when Peter and John went to Samaria we're any of those who believed in Jesus through Phil's testimony and miracles baptized in the Holy Ghost - and the twelve believers that Paul found in Ephesus in Acts 19. They didn't know Holy Ghost was even a thing, so he brought them the full truth of the Gospel, baptized them again and then laid hands on them. They received the Spirit then. It depends on how much of the Gospel is taught before someone accepts Jesus or... It's a possibility that God recreated the Day of Pentecost at Corny's house so the Jews couldn't argue with Gentiles being saved. Still, Peter hadn't even finished talking when the Gentiles in the Roman centurion's house we're speaking in tongues.

What is post trib, Armenian, kjv, grace through faith alone, not necessarily ‘hard preaching’ at all, protection of Israel for Jewish people, respecting that women should cover their heads when prophesying and before God with an actual veil not a doily worn at all times, observance of epistles, continuation of gifts exactly as described in the Bible yet requirement for interpretation of tongues, the spirit of God being sound, and sharing the word when led to.

Not praying to saints or those who have passed. Mary not being a perpetual virgin but mentioned in Revelation. Could also mean the church. Body of Christ that the serpent sought to devour. Recognition of her faith and goodness but not even close to the level of intercessory prayer.

Have yet to find a church in perfect alignment with what I believe. Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist.

God used Luther to save and restore true Christianity from the heretical, apostate, pagan, corrupt RCC. True faithful believers were set free from the oppression and persecution of the RCC.

@@sanachauba_0910 I think your insults come from a place of lack of study. Here's a video on three reformed denominations that are charismatic. Most Reformed are not, so it is a rarity. Sovereign Grace Churches are one of the few. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaS7k4umZ7Slqbs

@@ReadyToHarvest I got what you mean pal yeah I understand they’re continuationist so does John piper. So, are you saying John piper is also charismatic?? I don’t think Sovereign grace is like a Hillsong, Bethel music, Jesus culture & so on. I’ll be very glad if you answer me 🙏🏻
@ReadyToHarvest2 жыл бұрын
@@sanachauba_0910 Piper is kind of Charismatic, he's a rarity too, for example he believes in speaking in tongues and encouraged his church to do so. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKvMoaZ9aJKGbKM This is unusual, because most reformed people are cessationists. Not Piper though. In my video on converge, the denomination Bethlehem Baptist (the church Piper pastored) is a part of, I discuss them a bit, a large number of people in the church spoke in tongues. Charismatic does not mean the same thing as hillsong, etc. It simply means that all of the gifts of the spirit are still active, and should be practiced. This can play out differently in some denominations than others.

@@ntlearning yes please. I also just searched it, and I wonder if what I got is the same as what you mean by troll. Troll : a person who intentionally tries to instigate conflict, hostility, or arguments in an online social community.
@ntlearning Жыл бұрын
@@seams3713 Yea, but this definition is better - a person who posts or makes inflammatory, insincere, digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages online, or in real life, with the intent of provoking others into displaying emotional responses, or manipulating others' perception. Or maybe this one: An individual who posts false accusations or inflammatory remarks on social media to promote a cause or to harass someone.
