Ok I'm late, however. That was an excellent tutorial and I have watched previously by all the usual suspects - your fellow rw pilot streamers and this was the best. Aside from anything else, you were the first to *explicitly* state that the rudder is not used until the de-crab. People always say the approach is crabbed but never explain how the crab is established and maintained so I was never certain that it wasn't with the rudder. Now I know :-)

Once again an excellent video, thanks so much! My crosswind technique improved a lot after doing it your way, i used to decrab and flare at the same time as written in the Boeing FCTM, i guess the key to a good xwind landing in the sim is to first flare the aircraft and then decrab and keep wings level while at the same time retarding the thrust levers to idle. My next request would be to demonstrate a V1 cut in the Zibo the same way you did in the PMDG NGX a long time ago.

Nice and clear explanation of xwind landing techniques. I have more than 10.000 hours on Boeing series and I hardly been exposed to xwind more than 20 knots . I do not really recommend decrab during flare if you are not doing it frequently . If you land 40 knots crosswind once every 3 years , just try to decrease crab angle down to a comfortable point of yourself , and land crab . It is easier to apply aileron in to wind and rudder to opposite direction on the ground . Thats my point of view . What you guys think ?

Hello, from your experience do you find the Zibo 737-800 more realistic than the pmdg 737-800 on msfs2020? I just tried the demo of xp12 and i noticed in the flare that it just has a weight to it. If you trim the aircraft too low, you will fall like a rock during the flare even if you pull up all the way. The pmdg 737 is just so easy to float. Btw how does your sim look so good? Xp12 looks much worse than your xp11

So same landing method with Check, Close and we add Decrab at around 10ft?
@flightdeck2sim
@flightdeck2sim 5 ай бұрын
@@marius3347 yes it’s the same landing technique every time. The decrab wants to be just prior to touchdown, the height above the ground is really dependent on your rate of descent but it’s usually around 10ft, landing with a bit of crab still is not an issue. 👍🏻 FD2S

Hi captain, I have a question regarding target approach speed on these kinds of approaches. Is it recommended to fly at a higher speed or just maintain the Vref+5?
@matteopisu2768
@matteopisu2768 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, a stabilised approach goes from vref to vref+15 (max speed is vref+20)... normally in low wind conditions we fly at vref+5 (in conditions that go from 0 to 10kts headwind).. the way to increase the wind addiction is by dividing by half the headwind component. For instance landing on runway 27 and having wind from 270 at 20 kts, your headwind is 20kts.. so you divide that in half and your fly speed will be vref+10. You do this up to vref+15. In high winds conditions we tend to put the aircraft down on the asphalt instead to let it float over the runway (dangerous if you think that in the moment you close the thrust lever you're litterally just pushed by the wind) you want to have exactly the correct amount of speed to fly the approach, any excess knot will generate lift over the wing which will prevent the aircraft to sit on the wheels. So stick to that method I described you and you will be perfect 👍🏻

Also, a personal advice, unless youre restricted by the landing distance available use F30 for gusty conditions

Hey flight deck. Question..... When you hit toga in the sim do you actually move your throttle? If so why as the sim does it for you. And ofc when you disengage the a/p and a/t wouldn't your thrust be still far forward as you manually did it when you pressed toga? Sorry if I don't make sense lol
@flightdeck2sim
@flightdeck2sim 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark! Perfect sense 🙂 With the A/T disconnected after pushing TO/GA you would have to manually set thrust, you could if you had the spare capacity reengage the A/T but it's not in our SOP's and remember, the A/T FMA will not annunciate GA (One push of TO/GA) or N1 (2nd push of TO/GA) if the A/T is off. With the A/T engaged one push of TO/GA would give you reduced go around thrust which is basically an N1 thrust setting which will give you between 1000 to 2000fpm rate of climb. The 2nd push of TO/GA will give you full go-around thrust and the A/T will command the N1 G/A Bugs. With the A/T disengaged a thrust setting slightly less than full G/A N1 will suffice, this setting will vary depending on the aircraft weight, typically something between 85%-90% N1 works fine. If in doubt set full G/A thrust (the green bug). Hope this helps! FD2S
@markjackson5333
@markjackson5333 2 жыл бұрын
@@flightdeck2sim wow thanks for the reply. But I'm sorry I didn't mention I was referring to the thrust master throttle. I see you set it to 40 then hit toga on the SIM but still you push your throttle (thrustmaster) all the way forward. So at what point to you actually bring the throttle back? Because when your about to land the throttle in sim will be low power. But your thrustmaster still will be forward at toga. Sorry to be a pain
@flightdeck2sim
@flightdeck2sim 2 жыл бұрын
@@markjackson5333 Ah sorry, I more went into how the real aircraft works! I manually add thrust when pushing TO/GA, the Sim A/T takes over to ensure correct thrust is set. When I land I disconnect the A/T and change the thrust manually. FD2S
