hey this is cool but your camera spacing to lens is off not giving you as sharp of an image as youre supposed to get , look into a anamorphic clamp, and a spacer to get the height of the camera just right
@somedude78923 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but given the size and being mounted on to a rig/tripod/etc while its clamped to a taking lens, I don't think it'd do any good.

I have a modded Schneider Kreuznach 2x anamorphic projector lens and I've noticed two things which you might find helpful. 1) these types of lenses usually aren't respectably sharp until at a minimum 2.8, and 2) you will get vignetting on full frame sensors unless you use at least an 85mm lens. Cheers!

58mn on full frame after mod 😊

I have a few big anamorphics in the toolbox, this would definitely be a nice adjustment as the length of the lenses is a challenge to rig. If there’s really no optical loss or shifting of anamorphic squeeze ratios, then this could be the start of another modified lens market for anamorphics. Definitely wouldn’t go for anything below F2.8 though for general sharpness.

shorting the lens will affect the horizontal FOV from 2.0 on the Isco projector scope to around 1.4 squiz if Im correct.

Very interesting. I really hope Tito does a video about this as well considering he's reviewed basically every Isco out there.

I think the weight comes in consideration for hand held shoots with smaller camera, because for a well stabilized shoot and for tripod shots, we cant have the weight issue. Unless the gimbals can't handle it. I would use the heavy lenses for relaxed photography and not running around handheld haha so it's good for some projects that demand attention and emotion in the scene, slow pans, tracking and still shots with suitable equipment for the support should do it.

One thing I still have a question about is why there is vignetting, veiling glare with this largeof a front element? Is it a byproduct of shifting the optics forward in the housing?

Those were some jaw-droppingly stunning shots mate. The first few have ridiculously good color grades too! Wanted to ask: which subscription service is this particular music track from? It’s stunning, and I’d love to look for it and listen to it; would work so well when I’m doing my first-round editing without necessarily listening to anything, making only visual cuts matter.

how do you frame for 2.35:1 aspect ratio on sony? the monitor only desqeezes it, does it have custom zooming or custom crop mark options?

Sweet results! Do you think it would be sharper if you used a focusing helicoid and left both lenses at infinity? I supposed you couldn't mount everything on rails then, though. You'd have to leave the camera loose or the lens assembly, which would prohibitively heavy.
@Babsdoproductions5 жыл бұрын
The SLR Magic Rangefinder would be the kind of thing for this if it fits that particular lens. It would definitely add some heft to the front of the lens which already is on the heavier side. However, more than likely you would use this for more cinematic filming and not handheld stuff.

What does it means “doble focus”?
@csabalandi5 жыл бұрын
MIke Mikels When using an anamorphic projector lens you have two lens in front of your camera. Double focusing means that the two lenses aren’t connected optically so you have to manually focus both of them separately every time.
@MoonSafariFilms5 жыл бұрын
You have to focus the anamorphic lens and taking lens separately.

Am I able to use these methods on the Isco KA298 anamorphic projector lens?
@antontaranenko88243 жыл бұрын
Hi Mathieu;) I found one ISCO Superstar for sale in Japan and want to buy one for modification;) Is this modification, with closing up front and back lenses together fixes double focus problem? Or you still have yo focus separately anamorphic and receiving lens parts? There are also reviews that ISCO lenses do not give much of anamorphic flares due to good coatings?
@MathieuStern3 жыл бұрын
you will still need to double focus even after mod, and yes, no flares at all
@antontaranenko88243 жыл бұрын
@@MathieuStern Well, I probably will skip on ISCO than. Just keep on watching on my huge LOMO 35NAP2-3M which I got for free and thought that maybe there is some smaller option, with single focusing. Probably no luck than, and I will destined to challenge myself with LOMO USSR beast, some time in the future.

Broscro Is it only good with full-frame or could an APSC sensor work with it fine too
@vaidehiarts4 жыл бұрын
APS-C would be easier, in some ways, since you will be not be using the full reach of the lens. However double focusing is a nightmare. I'd suggest you look at something like the Sirui anamorphic lenses if you want something simpler to handle (1.33x though, not 1.5x or 2x)
