The amount of coordination involved here is incredible. Like an orchestra coming together to play a masterpiece. Truly amazing to listen to.

It's comforting to hear how when there's an emergency, all the ATC's immediately give precedence to that aircraft. @

OK everyone you need to realize the the Embraer is designed so if it has an engine failure it will try to auto relight. So it sounds like it failed on takeoff, during takeoff they would've had a high thrust setting and when the engine relight was successful it's going to come back to that power setting. The first couple steps in the Engine Fail QRH deals with an auto relight scenario.

I knew from their tone on the radio and the issue of "clean up" a few times that this wasn't going to be a typical engine failure. A surging engine, then shut down and then an unwanted relight to max power out of nowhere is incredibly distracting. The adrenaline dump alone is brutal let alone the task.

It never ceases to amaze me how pilots and ATC can understand each other, especially in these high stress situations. It's a different language altogether.

Very professional ATC... Bravo 👏

That was weird. Engine surged, stopped and started again at full power? I don't know if they even train for this scenario - engine has mind of it's own. Had to be scary. Good decision not to continue flight who knows what the engine might have done next ;)

Very well done, VAS. Good work all the way around, aircrew, ground crew and ATC.

What the pilot said makes sense as the aircraft made what appears to be an uninstructed turn to the left (#1 engine) shortly after they turned back towards the 31's. It looks like it restarted and pulled them to the left, indicating it was at some other power setting than idle. Great job pilots and ATC !

It is really very impressive to see the ballet between air, ATC and ground during these situations.

I would think both engines were set for take off thrust. The only thing I can think of that may have caused loss of thrust in the number one engine is possibly a surge or fuel starvation. If it was a surge the itt temp would have climbed rapidly. Why it came back on full power surprises me. I hope to hear the outcome of this one. The pilots did a good job of getting the plane back to the field. Off to the shop for that bird.

Scary. That feeling when objects start doing things on their own 😮 Engine surges, shuts down and then comes on full power....imagine if a vehicle one was driving suddenly did that...love to know if they found out how this happened.
