Well I live in Stockton California, stabbings are common, as are shootings, so are literal knife fights where yes, two or more guys/gals square up and handle their shit with a sharp object. As for this ass hat in the video, he would have his shoes, coat, hat and car gone, be bleeding like leaky faucet in a gutter and probably raped in one hour in my city. Our shit is so bad we literally have Oakland thugs saying they quote " won't F*** with em Stock n******" because we quote "take flight like a jet plane and Cary straps in handkerchief, dancing like a methomainac on some new shit", which was a literal quote from an Oakland guy that I was about to square up with at a gas station outside of Modesto CA. Personally tho, if you get stabbed in Stockton, it's because you got reckless eyes and pointy noses, you keep your shit tight and your legs closed and y'all good.

Flipping a knife is a fantasy move that should NEVER enter into an actual street survival situation. Too easy to get it knocked out of your hand, or dropped if you fumble it. I'm a 65-year old Kung-Fu practitioner (I started when I was 15, back in the 70's), so I know what I'm talking about. Keep a single, stable grip, until the situation is resolved. You are too young to have achieved this simple wisdom, Grasshopper. Do better.

Used my Knife fighting strategy with 100% success in my 60+ years on earth: 1. Consciously avoid people, places, and situations where knife fights might happen. 2. Be polite. Don't mess with people or associate with people who mess with people. 3. Deescalate. Agree, apologize, and keep mouth shut. 4. Walk away. (I used to say run, but I have a bad hip and can't run.) 5. If cornered start throwing things. Chairs work great. The more chairs you throw the better. (A prison guard I knew in college used this one in real life.) I'm skeptical Jake Mace has ever been in a real-life knife fight. If I wanted to learn knife fighting, I would get tactical training from a verified former Seal or Special Forces veteran of Afghanistan/Iraq. I will continue to rely on my current knife fighting strategy that has served me so well. (Came upon this while searching for a video on the best way to dummy cord a Swiss army pocketknife, LOL.)

Flipping knives in fights only works in games and movies, both up and down positions are good enough don't risk flipping it, you can both slash and thrust with both positions, knife pointing down is good for thrusting but harder to slash knife pointing above/forward is the opposite, but the difference isn't big enough to flip the knife, I personally prefer holding the knife forward but to each his own

I should not be surprised that there would be so many harsh comments here. Many seek to point out flaws, while, I think what we are saying is that combat had a dynamic that is impossible to predict with any certainty. It goes back to the often repeated statement about battle plans once contact is made with the enemy. We can point to the shortfalls we see here and we can express our own judgements and preconceptions about combat. In the end, one thing remains: We can do everything correctly and still lose the fight.

For the type of fighting appropriate for the knife you are showing I've got a 10" Bowie; but that's not my EDC. What I could really use is info on fighting , with my 3.5" Spring assisted, OTF double edged dagger pointed, EDC. Personally I back my EDC Gun up with both the knife and a 2K lumen flashlight with a very aggressive bezel that can dimple a head like a golf ball in seconds. So if an attacker isn't bigger, taller, younger, more muscular than me, is unarmed and alone, I may try not to shoot them. But this means they'll get in too close, so the backup tools come out (always easily and readily accessible). If the FL doesn't dissuade them (and only then) I plan on adding the hitherto unrevealed knife and hitting one of multiple points I know guaranteed to bleed out very quickly. One deep thrust hit only. I already know your hand spin but am hesitant to use it mid-fight. I expect the fight to be quick, with more 'dancing' than 'grappling'. A hand spin at this point might be considered as I see and adjust to the opponent's style and dominant hand. AND if my opponent is known to be armed, in any way, before we close to attack, I will definitely shoot them at a distance. Still, "Best laid plans" and "no plan survives first contact" etc., dictate collecting info and insights on fighting with non-fixed, short blade, EDC knives would be appreciated.

I don't know you guys but I got exactly what I wanted, a proper way to flip my knife whiteout losing it, there's 2 main postures to use a knife, and being able to safely change between is useful knowledge, even if is unlikely that we get the chance to use it.

Dull knives can cut too. Some consider a dull knife more dangerous because it is treated with less respect.

Fil Bankai Isaiah 2:4 may help. Also I know some chinese martial arts are sometimes linked with what the bible calls spiritism, you could do some research on what the bible says about that. These scriptures do not intended to tell us what to do, but they're bible principles that guide us to help us make an informed conscious decision. Here is a good website I use for research and any bible questions, like the one you just asked, can be answered here ( JW.org). these are two bible research articles you may also enjoy, I know I did, they are very satisfying =) wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102005249 wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/102008204#h=1:0-20:90

Good stuff. But when it's online like this even the bad guys can learn it. Why a lot of good teachers only teach knife stuff to the more long time disciplined students.
@trevorhirby7 жыл бұрын
Oh no bad guys can learn something useless from somebody with no legitimate experience.

It's kinda dumb to be switching all fuckin wierd like this guy why would you do it he isn't teaching anything usefull
@FF18Cloud6 жыл бұрын
malaihiboi that's kinda vain... Besides, he was just showing knife grips... Most of these videos, these, the escrima ones, etc etc, I'd say it's more a fitness thing that people who probably won't get in a fight who just want to learn to take in... Like seriously, what's an average Joe schmoe like me, or the guy across the street, who watches this video, hell, a dude with no real formal fighting training can beat the shit outta anyone from just raw fight experience. I mean, take this to the NBA, apparently "The Worm", Dennis Rodman, didn't play basketball seriously until he was in college... (Dude's a HOF, DPOY, and 5x champ, despite whatever else the dude does now) Ugh, just imagine it now, some kid who thinks he knows Kung Fu with these simple little tutorials that don't give you actual fight experience, just something to add to your personal training, sees this and takes it upon himself that he could use it for unholy things, pfft... No offense, bruh, but you can have learned MMA, kickboxing, whatever, but without knowing when to throw a punch... Ugh, like, tennis... You can have a stroke as beautiful as Federer's but tennis is 90% mental, you gonna get your ass beat... Like, if you ever became a programmer and you're like, "YEH BOI, I CAN DO HELLO WORLD, BITCHES", not realizing that to get a job in tech you have to do more than just, make simple ass school assignments... It's how much you practice the real stuff that matters, and that idea applies EVERYWHERE

I go for the hammer grip, not that I've ever been in a knife fight, but if I was I wouldn't want to lose my grip. You know, with the adrenalin running and what have you, I'll leave the fancy grips to others, who have better adrenalin control than me.

Seems like a sincere young man. The first thing taught is how to change your grip,... lots if flipping, .... what I see are loads of opportunities to drop your knife. I saw nothing on proper grip...or when to pull or how to pull your knife. He starts from a place that may disarm you when you need the knife the most.... Bad start.

So. How do we hold a knife? Whats each grip called? What's the perks of each grip? How do you fight in each grip? Ill tell ya Blade down is icepick grip, its ment for powerful thrusts. Get close, grab the enemy, get rid of the enemy Blade up, saber or hammer grip (accentially the same, but saber is more foward) use is for more slashing and reach. Keep people back so you can think Finger/thumb on blade, called thumb grip with swords and isnt used too often with knifes. Use for more control on the point and more precise stabs

As a person who was trained in military knife fighting techniques This switching technique is probably the worst thing you could do in an actual knife fight and would probably get you killed disarmed or cut badly .

maybe the style is dependent on how flexible you are but I'm watching this video and practicing my own technique I found the mine seems to be much faster and brings me to a secure grip much easier than the technique demonstrated here. I think ultimately it's subjective as to how flexible you are in certain parts of your forearm and hands.
