@@S.M.E.A.C Thank you for quoting the figures. You Tube is full of video of young Australians who have left the country because they can't afford to make a life in Australia. A cursory search of YT will yield the results.

Why would governments want to really reduce inflation? When their tax revenue from the 10% gst also increases.

Not sure I trust the ABS numbers. Where i live, the costs have increased over 100% in the past 4 years for almost EVERYTHING. Just recently, I noticed in the hardware sector, a door handle went from $30 up to $62 in just the past week. Bread went from $2 loaf to $6 a loaf in the past 3 years.

I'd be very surprised if Australia hasn't had some kind of leftist revolution at some point over the next 5 years. And this is something the Australian Right needs to realise our ruling class likes to larp around as anarcho-syndicalist revolutionaries, not realising their policies and the University system means there's now a giant cohort of Australians in their 20s and late teens who actually are communist, or at least damn close to it. Think of it as the Revolution Australia Never Had, cause there was a few instances in the 1930s when Australia could have gone either communist or fascist, but didn't.

Australia as an economic zone is basically an exercise in how extractive a ruling class can be without just getting replaced on the spot. Without Uncle Sam, Australia would be Spain in the 1700's, a dried up old fossil of a regional power.
