I wanted Bactine because it kept the wound from stinging. Mom & Dad never got it, tho. They stayed with washing it and bandaging it. But big bandages didn't stick on enough to cover knee scrapes. Just as well. Dad said, "Ya gotta eat a peck o' dirt before you die." It meant that one gets exposed to the environment and builds resistance to it. The proper response after encountering such in an accident is, "Sure, but I don't want it all at once!" However there is such a thing as pica eating. People sometimes do this (like eating clay or other non - food item) because the body craves some deficient nutrient.

I don't think it necessarily has to be about gender; yes, both genders can be doctors, I'm not arguing that, but most clinics and hospitals have 500 nurses that do each part of intake and checkup before the main doctor even sees you (where I live, every doctor's office or healthcare facility I've been to had one nurse to take you back and get your height and weight, then they'd leave, them another one would come over, take your blood pressure with the automatic machine then bring you to the patient room and leave, then another nurse would come in and do any basic things needed (checking medication list, basic physical, checking what you are here for) and write it down in the computer then leave, THEN the doctor would come in. So the "THEY will check your weight, THEY will check your height" to me sounds also like a reference to the fact that multiple nurses take the vitals sometimes before the doctor sees the patient.

Head mirror thing: the concavity would focus the light on a smaller area so the same amount of light is more concentrated and therefore brighter. I don't remember the correct terminologies, but it's analogous to pressure. The light that hits the reflector (let's say it's ~6 in^2) is reflected onto a smaller surface area on the patient, but the total amount of light stays the same, making the intensity (light per unit area, like pressure is force per unit area) increase. And the hole is so you can put it over your eye and still see through it, so you can line the light up exactly where you need it.

"Someone needs to tell these children that you don't need a bandaid if there's no open wound." Clearly Dr. Mike hasn't spent a lot of time around toddlers. Sometimes you give the bandaid because it will make them stop crying. Kids love bandaids, and they think they fix everything.

I thought it was really sweet that the child was copying what his mother did by putting the band-aid on the stuffed animal and giving it a kiss. And the teacher clearly knew that she didn't need a band-aid, but she still went on and exaggerated for the kids and let them "fix" her. Even if the band-aids weren't necessary there, when those kids do get an open wound, the child will automatically know to get the band-aid.

@@ju-yuanchueh8444 I understand. I used to work at a pre-k and band aids were the most magical and most consumed cure-all in the classroom. My mom was a nurse though, so my sister and I didn’t get bandaids until we needed stitches and stitches until a limb was falling off lol. I guess that kind of stuck with me. I’ll definitely give my kids a bandaid if it’s bleeding or going into a germy environment though and stitches whenever needed.

I know what you mean by the band aid thing. I worked in a daycare center and we actually had character band aids instead of the regular ones. The kids constantly tried to tell me that they needed a band aid even when nothing happened to them (I mean nothing, like they walk into the room and say they need a band aid, ask them what happened, and the answer was usually something along the lines of I hurt my arm three weeks ago). We actually had a lesson on when we need a band aid and when we don't. Our rule of thumb was if there's no blood, we don't need a band aid. There were pre-k students right before kindergarten so they were able to understand that concept

I love how he praised Doc McStuffins and then tore into Cocomelon like it was supposed to be at all realistic. When your doctor is a turtle that should be your first concern. And just how safe is this daycare if everyone keeps getting hurt?! 🤕
@ginnyjollykidd3 жыл бұрын
Not a doctor or even a pediatrician, just an observer, like Guy Lefrancois. Kids get hurt because they are growing. Mainly it's because they aren't used to the new size their body is becoming and are wobbly for it. They are learning proprioception, where their body parts are in relationship to each other and the head. And balance using the inner ear. And if a toddler is floppy, that'll play into it, too.
@websterri3 жыл бұрын
It should be realistic. Kids are learning from this dogshit show.
@ariannacampbell92953 жыл бұрын
Safety is a valid question, but let me just say preschoolers are capable of getting themselves into some pretty crappy situations. I worked the after school program at a preschool, where there were 24 kids (ages of 2-4) and only 2 teachers. We watched the kids like hawks, but one kid still managed to get his leg stuck in a tree. It took four of us to get him out and luckily we didn’t have to chop the tree down. You can imagine that the parents weren’t too happy. If only that injury could have been solved by a bandaid
@nerdywordyprincess84993 жыл бұрын
Totally not judging. I taught preschool and kids got hurt. It was just the fact that it was the kids and the teacher all on the same day.
