I found it more distracting than anything else. I thought it funny the first time around but the joke the old very fast. It just is a classroom pet/mascot which is a chameleon. The chameleon helps in nonverbal cues when the teacher is not around.

Because the point of cartoons is sometimes to explain something rather complicated or convoluted into something that's easier to swallow and digest to a younger audience. Medical shows focused more on the drama between people instead of the medical part, hence the shows meaning.

Anyone who watched "The Magic School Bus" as a child, knows the lizard Ms. Frizzle has as a pet is named Liz. She follows the class on all the "educational" adventures the class goes on. This lizard is a primary component of the show. Although... she very well could be a baby Triceratops the class brought back from their trip to the Jurassic Period...

Liz is a Jackson's Chameleon, for sure. However, she presents as a male Jackson's. Female Jackson's have just little bitty horn nubbins, it's the males that have the big, impressive horns.

There's a Magic School Bus episode where they explore the digestive system. We were at our doctor's office one day and my then extremely shy 6 year old was naming all the organs. Our doctor was so surprised it nearly knocked his socks off and she'd learned it all from the show!

As soon as I saw this video in my feed, I immediately started giggling like a gremlin on crack. I probably sounded High with a capital H. Amazing as always! By the way, the dino-thing is apparently a chameleon named Liz Ard (creative, I know). And I don't know what drugs they've pumped Lizzie full of but that doesn't look like any chameleon I've ever seen.

That "Ankylosaur" is Liz, a very stylized , male presenting, Jackson's chameleon. Liz should actually have much smaller horns since she's female, it is the males that have the impressive horns. Reptiles sneeze to rid their bodies of excess salt but excessive sneezing and open-mouth breathing is a symptom of respiratory infection. There are some zoonotic diseases that humans and reptiles can transfer to each other but I don't think any of them are respiratory. Though your herpetology is terribly weak, your paleontology is pretty awesome. You managed to name two of my favourite prehistoric critters, the Mosasaur (Not actually a dinosaur) and the Spinosaurus.

Hi Dr. Mike. RN and new mom here.. I found that after I had my son, I developed postpartum anxiety which really affected me (and still at times affect me) especially at night. Your videos have really helped distract me and overall make me feel better. They've also given me my educational medical fix while off on mat leave. Just wanted to leave a note on that. Really love what you're doing in educating people on their health and providing reliable information on relevant issues. Thank you for that!

I really feel you with that anxiety. As a mom myself, my youngest about to be 2, my anxiety is always especially bad at night. It’s good to watch something happy or light before bed. At least, for me, helps distract me from intrusive thoughts. Hang in there mom, I don’t know if it will get better but you’re doing great and I wish you well on your journey as a mother 💜 Always reach out even if at times it may be difficult.

Fun fact: a quick google search says that liz(Ms. Frizzle’s pet) lizard is a Jackson’s chameleon, which, after another google search is pretty accurate (Such as the three horns on her head[2 on her forehead,1on her nose] and the “ridge” going down her back. Liz does have four fingers/toes, while real life Jackson’s Chameleons only have 3 toes, but I’ll let that slide.)
