It makes me a little bit frustrated that they made he kid hop all over the hospital, surely they could have given him a wheelchair or some crutches to get around. Poor kid

I was so confused when they said "the size of a two pound coin" I was trying to figure out how big that would have to be and then I realized that pounds are a form of currency.

The way they are referring to a deaf persons life offends me. I understand they want to help, but please don't assume being deaf or hearing impaired is a horrible life. I grew up having surgeries that were forced on me, and while I understand they were trying to help me, being unable to have a say in it used to bother me a lot. Rather than teach a child they are broken, teach them they are fine, and teach others how to communicate with them.

I am in my 40's now, not sure why it is relevant though.

I know! I had the same reaction. Just because he is deaf doesn't mean he will have a bad life nor will he not learn how to talk. I know a couple of deaf people and they have great lives and they speak like normal and use sign. These people are just very uneducated with this stuff.
@tommyjrgensen59757 жыл бұрын
every time there is a youtube clip of a child getting this implant ,there is a deaf person acting like they just have lost a member of some secret cult/religion ,yes the rest of the world can learn to sign to please you,but why would we
@The16BitLolita7 жыл бұрын
+Leah Wiley In your time this wasnt available. You had to carry on and grow up just like you are. When this happens a person doesnt wanna "change". its all you are and grew up. But today, and if the family is not deaf i most certainly understand how it is better for the children, and makes their life easier...

Ella Mckenna Mine collapsed at birth, and i've had issues my entire life. I had a numothorax and had a reconstructive surgery at 8 years old, and now i have to use steroid inhalers, courses of steroid pills, and rescue inhalers.

i noticed daisy only had one implant yet charlie got 2 , i wonder why daisy didnt get the second .
@orangemonkeygaming27157 жыл бұрын
She may eventually get the second. My best friend is deaf and is having appointments to see if she can get a cochlear implant, if they say yes she will only be able to have one and not sure how long she has to wait to have a second or if she will ever get a second. Everyone is different and it could just be that Daisy didn't need a second and that she will do fine with one. hope that clears some things up for you.

Daisy probably only got one because at the time they were very expensive and the NHS would only pay for one. Now they are less expensive and the UK Government (NHS) will pay for both. They are so luck to live in a country where the surgery and implants are fully covered.

no, but it's fairly horrible and it impacts child development in a significant way. If you can not fix it, then you live with it, but if you have the option to fix it, you should fix it.
