You’re 100% right about the clay material, classifying is a must ✅

I like the sluice but I think I would add a small section of moss and screen about halfway down to prevent losses.. that's just me though. Nice video👍👍

You might think you're running more not classifying but that's a lot of weight to move when you know that there's no gold gonna fall out of those rocks. I have a gold hog stream sluice. I've found that when a big rock stops on the mat, it causes Eddie currents that will clean out riffles. My best day not classifying was .2g from a yard. My best day classifying to 1/4 inch was .5g a yard.

At that particular spot with that material I'd say to not classify. You classified a bucket down to a quarter that really equates to like 3 buckets of unclassified material. With the return I saw from both samples I'd say that's all the proof that's needed! 😊 Rock on man and go get that gold!

Hey! Enjoyed the vid. Been GH Matt's in my dredge for years where obviously the dirt is only classified by the size of the 2.5" nozzle tip. I've used it on my private claim with tiny gold. I can run a good hour before I start seeing a few tiny specks in my last mat. I have 6 mats. My first mat closest to the flare always has almost all the gold. I never glued my mats purposely so I can pan/check each mat independently. All systems lose a little. Also, my mats work best with some flow, I have them ripping. You can see the small gold it catches in Lee Hendrix's vids. Just my two cents

Yeah when you have super tiny flour like I do, it's hard to see any gold in the box until there is alot. I keep second guessing and wasting time doing too many cleanups when the gold is definitely there. I'd like to glue on an indicator mat at the top.

You are absolutely right. Depending on how and what material is, it will change what process would be used. A thought that I had was, in your case, running the numbers game, would be a fluid bed classifier. You have the classifier built in and catch the heavier material so it would probably be the best bet for what you are doing. I would love to get one myself because of the material I dig. I know gold is stuck to the larger rock and it would boost what I would get.

I was literally watching my buddy from the youtube channel Lunacruse. his last video was about a fluid bed and it got me thinking. crazy you mention it same day.

@rookiegoldprospector we are always looking for a better more efficient solution. And good minds think alike. GreenMountain gold trap was what I was looking at. And it is applying both of what idea's we have. To solve this problem.

A high percentage of the gold in this deposit is sub 100 mesh. When I pan here and save all the cons it looks like clouds of gold smeared. I catch less of that microscopic stuff in any sluice. Very rich micro gold deposit. @@jamesculver829

Video suggestion: run another slough behind the first one a day you dont classify. To see how much gold the first missed.

Very interesting results. Would be great to do the same test again using a Dream Mat, if you have one. You might be able to up your capture rate on the unclassified side. Only testing will tell.

Maybe if someone donated a mat same exact dimensions to fit in that box I could run it again same spot same way...

Is it legal to use a sluice i. Ga without a permit?
@goldiswhereyoufindit
@goldiswhereyoufindit 8 ай бұрын
It is legal on private property or in a municipality that hasn't banned it. You can't sluice in the national forest and definitely not in a state park. Only commercial miners need permits. Hobbyists are exempt from permits in Georgia.

I feel like the full size Gold hog stream sluice would perform better with unclassified material. The mini just doesn't seem to have enough mat length to deal with the increased flow needed to properly flush the gravel. I bet if you put two minis back to back or used the Gold Hog extension this would trivialize any extra loss. Thanks for the video.

I've got the big daddy gold hog sluice too just can't easily carry it down into this ravine lol. The mini fits in my backpack.

Have you ever thought about cutting the sluice in half so it does fit in a pack? I believe Gold hog even sells some overpriced brackets to attach them once you get in the water. I might buy the full size sluice, but if i do it's getting chopped for my pack.

I'm not sure it's worth all the extra weight and bulk for how much more gold captured. I do like the big one though. @@Shoop...

@@goldiswhereyoufindit I believe the stream sluice is 54" including a 14" flair, which leaves 40". Cut that 40 in half and you have a pair of 20" and a 14" piece that easily fit in any backpack. Half a dozen wing nuts and a couple brackets and its set up. 10" wide by 40" long mat pretty much doubles the size of the mini and you can process much more pay before having to clean the mat and you can also run it much more aggressively than the mini. Just saying...

I thought I heard you say you can run 3 times as much material if you do not classify. If that the case then obviously do not classify. Consider doing this test next time you go because I feel that walking up and down 20 times with a shovel load would take heaps longer than classifying and walking just once with a full bucket. Test #1 is - Classify through 1 inch mesh into your 20 litre bucket until it is full , and count how many shovels you dug and then run it and see how long all that took to run. Test #2 is - However many shovels you dug in test #1 , run that many unclassified shovels , walking up and down and see how long that took. I feel the time you save walking up and down , and also removing larger stones from your sluice could be significant. Of course you need some 1 inch mesh , but easy to get hold of , and not difficult to make a bucket sieve. Or ignore all that , and simply fill your 20 litre bucket , or better still , 2 by 10 litre , and carry them to your sluice for feeding. Saves a bunch of walking time.
@goldiswhereyoufindit
@goldiswhereyoufindit Жыл бұрын
I will consider that test, and I would also wager I could do more. After you fill up the bucket you still have to run it. I'll do 40 shovels before you can fill up your one bucket and run it lol. Walking time isn't relevant because I'm going full speed. It's my gym membership.

@@goldiswhereyoufindit Okay - sounds like you got all bases covered. The main thing is that it works for you. It still useful to possess a 1 inch classifier just the same.

Thou shalt not classify saith the Lord of Gold. Buy Keene Engineering and get a Grizzly or a punch plate and run 10 buckets in the same time it takes others to run 1.
