Hey Dan, Gold Hog sent you that product because they believe you are an honest person not afraid to point out warts, dysfunctional aspects and or just plain flaws with a piece of equipment. I hope they mention you and your channel in or on their advertisements. I for one respect you and your channel as truthful information and fun entertainment, Thank you. Take Care

How much did you get from your second day?
@acubsshadow37508 ай бұрын
@@chazwickjeffriesvonbronswi9922 i forgot my snuffer bottle but i was able to get one flour spec into an old receipt to bring home and put into the snuffer bottle for a later date lol. And i found an awesome fist sized stone that I believe was quartz (transparent whitish color) stuck under a boulder where it must have been tumbling on itself for a while because it rounded itself really cool on one side. Almost looked it was trying to become a crystal ball lol

A mighty good evaluation on that prototype Dan! ALL Doc's products have done very well for me over time and all of them catch noticeably more Gold, of all sizes, than what I used in the past. Since I match my equipment to the task and situation at hand I have, over time, brought 7 pieces of Gold Hog equipment on line in my one man Alaskan one shovel operation. I can firmly say that I wouldn't go back to any other piece of equipment I've ever used before because I trust the performance. Oh yeah - no connection with Gold Hog other than a thoroughly satisfied customer. Joe S, near Talkeetna, AK and Northern Idaho in the winter.

Wow, impressive result! I think the switchback / zig zag may help recovery due to each stop/start providing slightly more settling time at the top of each sluice. It also resets the material, enabling any tinfoil kites sailing down the sluice to get caught. I like this product Dan, thanks for sharing this test!

'Mosh Pit', love it! Took me back some decades 😜 It's comments like this, the background music choices, the humor and the way Dan interacts with his lovely wife and friends, and his surroundings ( or is the river his best friend?😁) that makes me love this channel♥️♥️♥️

Instead of wing nut I’d use flat head pin with hole put washer on the bottom so clasp pin will be tight. I did that on my 4” dredge. 😂 Guys would make fun of me said it looked like a race car hood to hold hood down! 😂 Enjoyed your video. Gold Hog reminds me of the Little John back in the day (wood)

Workaround! Don't dump large rocks into the Gold Hog that you already know isn't Gold! Thanks Dan!
@4seasonspix8 ай бұрын
Depending on the soil and or weather situation, larger rocks might have gold-peppered dirt sticking to them, so you do want those rocks to get cleaned by the pressured water. On the other hand, had he left the dam in place, those larger rocks would have never even gotten near the grizzly area. But that makes me wonder, how the manufacturer was going to deal with large rocks piling up against the dam wall. Is this highbanker meant to deal with pre-screened dirt only?
@kdaviper2 ай бұрын
@@4seasonspixmaybe they reason that since it will be manually fed in most scenarios, it would be easy to keep larger rocks cleared? Either rinse them off and toss them or drop them in a bucket for later rinsing. Maybe.

Dan is would also like to see more room on water inlets as 90 or 45 degree elbows that give more room for tailings to fall! Also more room for bigger rocks to drop out farther! Great video
@FinalSparkLux8 ай бұрын
I think some elbows for the water inlets would be good that way the hoses aren't in front of the area where the rocks and stuff are discharged. It looked like a lot of rocks were hitting the hose and jumping into the lower layer because of it. Maybe it's a non issue, but if a big enough rock did it, it could potentially cause more losses by disturbing the material. Idk, just a thought

Unfortunately, where I live in the States those specks next to the dime are what we get. No nuggets and pickers are rare so it's about being outdoors. We call it "Flour Gold". That sluice is amazing to catch all that flour gold.

Awesome review. For context, I wonder if viewers really understood the fine-grain aspect. When you compare your testing of the boar box, catching at what is a better rate. You didn't use as fine grain as you did with this one. Thanks for pushing it to the limit and for your honest review. I am sold. I will be picking up one of these.

wing nuts do good at their job. no wrenches are needed. if you want to you can exchange the wing nuts for colored vacuum caps (automotive vacuum caps rubber or vinyl bought from a parts store.)to the threaded studs. their easy to place and take off they keep the bolt studs from backing out, but they don't keep the bolts as secure as the real nuts or wing nuts do.
