After struggling with infertility for over 2 years, we decided to just focus on getting healthy and went keto. Dr. Berry said in a video “if you are a woman of child bearing years and aren’t using any barriers, you will end up pregnant on keto”. I thought “yeah right not me, fertility treatments didn’t even help”. Bam the next month, pregnant. I’m 36 weeks right now and have followed both Lily Nichols and Dr Berry throughout pregnancy. So excited to see this collaboration!

Im Watching this at almost 20 weeks pregnant. I was doing ketovore before becoming pregnant. The first trimester I was given a guideline and also suffered horrible meat aversions so i conpletely went off course and ate horrible..basically the foods on the guidline.. so alot of carbs.. I'm finally feeling alot better and have switched back to carnivore/ abit of keto. I should mention that since I did go off course during my first trimester I have gained a TON of weight already. Baby is doing fine but my weight gain is too high for where im at. I'm now trying to maintain it by being in carnivore...and keto. So I truly believe carbs are just not for me.

Yes thank you for this interview. I clearly was measured for protein requirements. It was so difficult to limit this limit that didn’t make sense. They said my baby Witold be big and he was only 6lbs 7 oz but had too much insulin in him because of my sugars. I tried so hard to get it under control but the limits were so unnecessary. It’s so much easier to eat meat and veggies.

I was doing zero carb before pregnancy and supplementing with folate, cod liver oil, vitamin c. When morning sickness rolled around, I couldn't stomach the scent of meat and puked up whatever I ate. I ended up losing 12 pounds in the first trimester. The meat aversion lasted until the end unfortunately. I still ate some in the second and third trimesters, but generally I hated everything I normally eat in exorbitant amounts like eggs, checked, steak, etc..

@@User-s868 I’m currently in my third trimester and tried to go zero carb in my second trimester when I started to feel a little better. It wasn’t easy as the meat aversions came back towards the later half of my second trimester. Instead of cooking up meats, I switched to drinking bone broth, eating salami and hard cheese, seafood, raw oysters, eggs, pork rinds, foods that I felt would not have such a strong gamey meat smell...before I finally could eat meat again. Another thing was to ensure I was getting my electrolytes either through lemon juice and real salt or a supplement to prevent myself from feeling moody and losing my appetite. If you can find raw milk or grass fed milk that isn’t heavily pasteurized, it would be good to include that too to make up for loss calories from eating less meat.

What if I am already diabetic type 2? I have been on keto for almost 2 years so far. I reverse diabetes. Mu AC1 is normal. When I get pregnant can I continue with low carb? Please a video about this. All are for gestational diabetes but not when the person already is diabetic thank you

I would think it's even more important to maintain a low carb diet when you've had T2DM previously. If low carb has made you healthy, there's nothing to contradict that you and your future baby would continue to develop healthily during pregnancy. When pregnant, our insulin is raised naturally since it helps build tissue. Simulatiously, babies brains need ketones to develop apparently, according to some studies, spoken about by dr Lily Nichols.

I’m 6 months pregnant and insulin resistant.. is it safe to do keto while pregnant?
@AutumnLocks2 жыл бұрын
I went on Keto is my third trimester of my last pregnancy due to gestational diabetes. It was a rough 3 days while I adjusted (I didn't feel well and lost a little weight). But then everything was fine. I continued with Keto after as well, I gave birth at a lower weight than my previous pregnancy and shed the baby weight faster.

I take Ancient Nutrition prenatal vitamins (Dr. Josh Axe's brand). They have liver and folate in them. Pricey, but well worth it.

One option to drink NORA tea daily. It's contains so many natural vitamins. I also take a folate supplement on it's own.

Thorne is excellent! I need real folate, not folic acid and its amazing. The smell could be better but I put up with it because the vitamins make me feel so good.

If you go to her website she has a list of recommended prenatal vitamins. Thorne is one of them.
