This is the most meaningful "Real Friends" song to me!! There was this one girl who I tried so fucking hard for, for 8 months and in the end she ripped my heart out and cut me out of her life, and started dating my friend... The memories of her are stuck in the back of my mind and it's torture. It's been a lonely year, and I've given up on you.

The heartbreak and relatability of this song brings me to tears every time. It's a magnificent song. I remember seeing them at Warped a few years back. They played in the amphetheater, and my friends and I were walking past. Dan got in the crowd, and the unity everyone had with "It's been a lonely year" was just incredible. Real Friends definitely know how to connect with the soul!

As far as the rhythm part goes, not too hard to figure out. There are multiple ways to play it. If you wish, I could show you. As far as the lead goes (I forget his name, but he is using the black guitar) it would take some time to figure out, though there is a useable tab online for that.
