I used to work in community radio in Leith and we had local accents and local lingo - a sharp contrast to whatever happens the voice when it goes mainstream.

I have this conversation on a regular basis, every night on 'Reporting ScoDland', why don't they speak in their real accents? And when did their 'we only hire Teuchters' policy come into place? and who teaches them that bulldog chewin a wasp smile that some of the women have?

+Spendomaniac Is that really how a Scott would say "Cunt"? Cunch? so even T's at the end of words are pronounced with a "Ch"?

UnicornCookie 2753 one more question. since I learned my English in Spain. can I ask what were the words for "buddy" that he used? I know he says "Mate", and what are the next one's? he says "Pal", "chief" muckard? and what were the rest?

Lol, the funny thing is even Americans don't say "Scodland". The pronouncing "t"s as "d"s thing is only in words like butter or water where there's a vowel both before and after the "t".

I never thought I’d ever see fake Scots getting found out on tv. At last , others like the Burnistoun lads, hate it too. Minute someone gets a bit of success from Glasgow, the accent goes off somewhere else, to impress, makes Real Scots cringe.

This reminds me so much of Groundskeeper Willie fae The Simpsons. A know the bastard said he’s fae a fake part uv Scotland (North Kiltown) but still. His accent barely sounds like any version of were accent.

Jesus. And you're one of those who writes colloquial terms like "were" (used in place of "our" for non Scottish people reading) in a sentence. Cringeworthy.
