Hey Gary, I was the photographer in the house next door on Skye during that very wet and windy week. Never got a chance to say hello, but was interested to see what you got in those “challenging conditions”! Unfortunately I had to leave on the day the snow came. Shooting hand held was definitely the order of the day in those winds though! My tips from that week, “keep wiping the lens” and “use the weather you’re given” my best shots came from the worst weather, worth all the drenchings.
@GaryGough5 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy. Would love to have said hello, sorry we missed each other. Challenging conditions indeed. You're so right, and as Alistair's tip said "if the weather gives you lemons, shoot lemons" 🤣😊😁 I'd love to see what you came away with

Speaking of so called KZbin experts, which there are many and have a huge following. It's the images that count not the constant talking or equipment tests. I consider my self lucky to learn from a darkroom and film, though I use do use digital now. Good Stuff! Tip 1 is basically like 'A joke isn't funny if you have to explain it'. Great video and some great tips, thank you. I’d be interested to hear your opinion - whilst to self critique your images is good, there is a danger you might not spot potential improvements as you will only see what you can see. You might think your image is fantastic when actually it’s pretty average. But, if you get a better photographer to critique your images,they can really point out opportunities to improve.

I wrestle with commenting on a photo I've taken. I feel sometimes people need a push to get what you're trying to say with a photo. People's brains are so cluttered, they need some reining in to get them to focus and see your point. But another way to look at it is maybe you are only playing toward the people that are getting it without the comments...

Not really a landscape specific tip, more of a beginner tip. Always have at least one spare memory card, which you keep in your bag.to protect against the day when you get your camera out and realise your card is still in your laptop at home. It happened to me when I was on a boat in the North Sea. I was totally screwed. I called myself a few names that day.
