Less than 20% of power produced in India comes from renewable sources. So EVs just shift the pollution one place to another, not eliminate it completely. I mean to say that 'no pollution' is not the correct phrase to use. In that regard I liked what this gentleman told - "I went for this one for the torque".

Even big companies like Bosch are more interested in developing synthetic fuel or researching on alternative fuel to keep the Internal combustion engines alive on the roads and Mazda is developing engines that can run cleaner than EV
@Amuzic_Earth
@Amuzic_Earth 3 жыл бұрын
Mazda developed their 40% efficient engine couple of years ago.no words form then since except that they have began launching their new EVs. The 'more efficient than EV' engine is based on some 2010 or prior data. Every EV on road today is greener than ICE within 1.5-5 years. 5 years being the absolute worst where the Electricity is 100% coal. Synthetic oil is a pipe dream. Even Porsches large scale production plan is limited to few million gallons whereas world uses billions and billions of gallons of oil. By the time they begin producing synthetic oil using 100% clean electricity EVs will become so greener to run( because of greener grid and economy of scale and advancement of battery tech and mining) , it won't even make sense. Also, nobody will want to be smoked on their face by any form of engine car. Synthetic oil will be carbon neutral...right. but the pm2.5 emission that causes most of the health issues and highest number of death will still be there. Just stop burning staff already...synthetic and otherwise. Now I agree it will find some use on ships and planes before their electrification become easier...but that's about it.

Thanks for a lovely feedback on Nexon EV Mr. Arun. On My test drives with the nexon ev I found that on slopes if you brake and come to a complete halt and then release the brake then the car rolls back about two feet before starting to move ahead again and this would turn out to be a issue in tight traffic. Only solution is to use handbrake but that is also a bit of an irritant in constant stop go conditions like in mall parking slopes. Is there any work around this as there is no auto hold.

True, Nexon doesn’t have hill hold, but has Hill Ascent Assist. Now for the problem you stated there is no other Work around in Nexon ev other than to pull hand break, slightly press accelerator, then disengage hand break - How ever there is a cheat code! Release break slowly - go to half break ( just like half clutch ) where the car starts to slip back - now the Hill Ascent Assist kicks in and throttles the motor, when you feel it release the break and the car creeps forward whatever is the elevation . Once you get used to - this works well.

Why is the number plate hidden, if it is genuine purchased product, no need to hide it. Feels more like marketing Nexon EV. Tata needs to bring battery swappable concept in their cars to promote EV cars, or it would be like Tagor, MG ZE (old model), you will end up paying more and remain life long with old model. The max battery life is 8 yrs, the car is worthless, again for battery replacement (old and outdated battery with range) you need to pay high amount. For 8 yrs, you are paying around 2.1lk roughly, (not considered loan interest). Not just Tata, all companies have to work together to bring battery swappable concept in EV world to promote innovations. Sun Mobility is an example. Or find way to inject Nano Diamond battery to these cars.

Managing 2 cars is definitely a hassle not only for space , but also for maintenance / Insurance etc. Cost-benefit analysis over 3 years can give a idea, if the Hassle is worth it. It was worth for me ! About Power cut, my part of Bangalore is blessed with hardly any power cut, thanks to BESCOM . One important thing is better to increase sanctioned load to 7.5 KW or higher now ( if anticipating to buy EV in near future) , when the local infrastructure is capable of providing it. when more people move to EV, local infrastructure, will be stressed and we might have to wait in QUEUE !

I did 250, 260 KM trips with single charge , retaining ~ 10 % battery , the calculated best range I got for 100% battery is ~280 KM ( this is for Zero sum altitude change - round about trip in good roads). Please note that to do better than 220-230 KM we need to adapt some hypermiling techniques. Keeping momentum is the key! . Trip altitude change plays a critical role in range . If your route has 500 Mtr elevation drop - you can expect 10-15 KM additional range.

Don't over hype ev's, as of now ev are just intra city luxury vehicles. Aleast 500 km real range for 4wheelers and 200km for 2 wheelers and costs should be under 15L, only can change the future commuting.

My take, I think this community of EV adaptors or pioneers are not trying to over hype, but wake others! “Big battery with 500 km real world range”: not sure one should aim for it - highly debatable -> bigger battery means more cost and more weight you carry in your belly just for that few occasional long distance drives. Cost ->initial cost/ accidental damages/replacement after battery life etc. Weight -> Wh/km efficiency / tyre/ suspension wear and tear etc “Intra city Luxury vehicles”: If a user usage profile has 50% or higher intra-city commutes with over 15K ODO clocking per year (overall), moving to EV will save him over 60000 Rs. Then on if he can plan and shift this other 50% inter-city travels to EV (thanks to growing FC network) like I did, savings can go up to 1,00,000/ year. Put this together with state government subsidy + road tax benefits + tax saving under Section 80EEB - it will work out cheaper than buying petrol automatic same trim level. Now for the special very long 500+ KM drive in a stretch or emergency unplanned drives - either one can retain old petrol car in garage or book a self-drive cab EV driving comfort especially in city + Helping nation of foreign exchange + reducing individual carbon footprint etc etc are just bonus! Be warned that once >5% new buyers start moving to EV, adaption will sharply rise and then all this government perks will STOP. The opportunity to shift to EV Is NOW.

Provided there are more number of fast chargers popping up, EV is a very good option .. if you are running EVs more than 10000km per year, then it turns out to be profitable in 5years. Below calculation is done by considering annual commute of 18000kms for 5 years . At least as per the calculation we save around 5 lakhs on fuel in 5years. When we run it for 8 years , we would be saving around 8 lakhs . This savings would be far more than the battery replacement cost after 8 years .. tata nexo ev ============== ============== down payemnt : 1.6 lks loan req : 15.3-1.6 = 13.7 lks EMI : 28108 @8.25% SBI Green car loan Annual Interest - tax savings ================================= year 1 : 1,07,640 - 32100 (savings) year 2 : 87,341 - 26100 (savings) year 3 : 65,247 - 19600 (savings) year 4 : 41,201 - 12300 (savings) year 5 : 15,029 - 4500(savings) #Total interest paid for 5 years : 316458 #principal paid for 5 years : 1370000 #savings on taxes for 5 years: 94600 #total payment in 5 years : 316458 + 1370000 - 94600 = 1591858 Yearly savings on running 18000km as per current petrol price : 6.5rs * 18000 = 117000 **even if we fast charge the vehicle everytime it will be costing 3.5rs/km. Avg mileage of nexon petrol is 11km/ltrs. Considering the service charge, per km cost is 10rs. Hence savings done using EV compared to petrol is 10-3.5rs = 6.5rs/km. #Savings on running the same for 5 years = 117000 * 5 = 585500 #down payment = 1,60,000 #Hence it appears like 1166358 rs (1591858+160000-585500) to be paid at the end of 5 years Tata nexon XE ================= ================= down payment : 1.6 lks loan req : 9.25-1.6 = 7.65 lks EMI : 15787 Annual Interest ================ year 1 : 61,903 year 2 : 50,284 year 3 : 37,606 year 4 : 23,774 year 5 : 8,682 #Total intrest paid for 5 years : 182250 #Total principal paid for 5 years : 7,65,000 Yearly extra cost of running 18000km as per current petrol price : 6.5rs * 18000 = 117000 #Cost of running the same for 5 years = 117000 * 5 = 585500 #down payment = 1,60,000 Hence it looks to be 1692750 rs (182250 + 765000 + 585500 + 160000) to be paid at the end of 5 years Conclusion : ============== Hence nexon-petrol is costing 526392 rs more at the end of 5 years compared to EV, provided 18000km is run annually.

🙏🙏please use the word fossiled cars instead of ICE. It seems so false. Although it is Internal Combustion Engine, but at first glance it sounds like an ice cool vehicle... Which is not at all the case. These vehicles just consume fossil. Plus they are obsolete now in front of EVs. So simply fossiled cars make more sense. 😀

Thousands of EV owners live in apartments and charge their EVs. Take permission from society. Install a line from your meter to parking spot. Install a socket at your apartment. Charge. If you don’t have fixed parking speak to your Society. Ask them if they can allot a space for your EV. Everything is possible by communicating. It’s not rocket science.

You can also look at 3rd party common charging Soltions ... society can install and bill residents the cost as per usage ! They don’t have to fix u r parking but they can keep a ratio like for 2 EVs one charge point will be installed and keep adding
