I gotta say I live in Appalachian in north Carolina and I love yes it can be a rough life at times simply because the lack of industry but it's a great place to live and it's also very relaxed and I love it and wouldn't change anything

Thanks for helping us city folk understand what is real about the Appalachians. What I would say is that nobody should ever apologize for who they are or the culture they come from. Embrace who you are and take pride in where you come from for what it is. You might not believe it but many city folk wish they could be country folk and hate their life trapped in the big city running the rat race every day.

My great grampa 3times over is from Kentucky, he was an ex-slave back in the late 1800's , he was brought up to Fort Benton by one Kennyth MacKenzie his master. He met my grandmother Phyllisy, a blackfoot women from Canada, and this is where our extended family begins, so im pretty sure we got family there down around Kentucky to this day.

I'm from Long Island New York. Great video; creative way to get your point across. I've been all through eastern Kentucky, North Carolina , and Tennessee. Met some of the nicest people I've ever met on some of those trips. God bless

Amen Brother. Although I live in Pennsylvania people have the same sterotypes. Some of the most kind and generous people I have ever met have been People that live in Isolated Mountains. I am proud to to be from the Appalachian Mountains. Also I'm with you COAL is the Future!!

Coal is the past, much more potential and thousands of jobs in renewable energy. Sun and wind can revitalize the mountain areas and make America the greatest it will ever be. But the shitheads in the White House won't allow it.

You are a bit wrong on coal, only the East and South gets a significant amount of power from coal. Washington State gets most of its power from hydroelectric. Check out the eia.gov website for energy statistics.

I'd definitely love to see more about Appalachian stereotypes, what you do for fun, etc. I saw that Diane Sawyer video and it pissed me off. My family is all from Kentucky and I was raised about 30 miles east of Cincy. People aren't all the way they portrayed them. I'm actually writing a book, right now (and researching), about a girl who goes off to college, escaping Appalachia, becoming a big snob who comes home and discovers she was all wrong and that Appalachia is...basically, the shit. : )

Coal could have a future as water filtration. Especially during national emergencies. Coal has ton of uses outside of electricity generation.

what county is Pikeville? all my family is located like ashland area some Cattlesburg and Inez. We bought a truck in Hager Hill it was Johnson County. A lot of people don't. know where Warfield is when I tell them my aunt lives there. I guess she lives in a place near there called Beauty. We saw Jenny Wileys grave dont remember where it was though I unfortunately and the 1st generation born in Ohio ugh lol😄

Pikeville is in Pike county. Ashland is in the northern most part of the state and Pikeville is the southern most. Jenny Wileys grave is in Johnson county
@tehvarney3
@tehvarney3 6 жыл бұрын
Ehh, you're kinda right. Ashland is more northeastern KY. Florence is the northernmost as it is just across the river from Cincinnati. Pike is most definitely not the southernmost county, that would either be Harlan or whatever county is in the very west, Paducah maybe. Pike is the easternmost, though.

You do not come across as stupid or ignorant at all, as a matter of fact you are very well spoken. Being from Alabama I've know many brilliant people that have our Southern Accent.I must say being a gay man you are so very handsome and smart. Stop worrying yourself with such foolish matters. You are a bright and beautiful young man and I want you to do and see good thing and good people. Surround yourself with love and people that are much smarter than yourself and it will help you grow to become wise. That's what I've done. I've have friends that came from humble being and became multi millionaires. Setting at a table and having everyone else at the table being self-made is very inspiring and I've learned so much from these powerful men of business,can't put a price tag on that. I worked for one of my self made men who was a best friend until his death. PS, I Love Coal And How It Helps your town and the power it Brings To America. I am 100% Pro Coal. It's the most abundant source of energy and the cheapest !!! Global Warming Is Horse Manure ! A Lie ! I hope I haven't offend you Tehvarney3. Yes go work out that beautiful body of yours ,keep what you have as long as you can. You can't replace youth or handsome once its gone ,baby its gone ! Take care ! Peace and support from Alabama.

Okay, I'm from a similar region and will say this: Coal does hurt the atmosphere, but it is no worse than other types of energy for the environment overall, at least for Virginia. In order to put up windmills, deforestation is necessary. Natural oil is questionable. Wood is as nasty as coal if not worse. Solar power might work but it's expensive and tricky when it comes to how long the sun stays up enough. In the end, I think the best thing to do is to try to use less energy. I think it's funny that a lot of the people that stereotype us are yanks that live in a city so thick with smog they can't breathe, so they come down here and then try to tell us what's what. Decent video man, just try to keep a balanced mindset. Btw, I think I recognize you, but I'm not sure...

Why do US Gov’t send whole lots of aide to the other countries? Just turn our head around. We will see people have been lived under poverty for very long years. Are there any car manufacturers or power plants, any manufacturing facilities to move into Appalachian country? Before we help other countries, let help our own people who left behind for many years. I pray for them.

It's a weird state in that culturally, it's divided almost right down the middle. Central and Western KY are more of a "northern culture," much more diverse with people and industry. The east, however, is of a STRONG southern culture.
