I grew up in Ft Myers and worked on fishing boats out of Pine Island and I can tell you that the weed moving network down there was like a machine. The boats were in, the fish houses were in, the whole island was part of it. Ft. Myers itself was basically a weed farm all the way out to Cape Coral.

Great interview. Brings back memories of the keys one afternoon at the bar at Buccaneer in Marathon when a 30 foot or so very powerful sounding boat with 8 or 10 young folks, some girls , came up to the dock from the open gulf. The staff were getting excited and I heard Evergldes boys mentioned in a welcome way. They set them up with tables as one private group and they were having good party when I left. Tim could have been one of them but not knowing them I minded my own business. The boat did raise an eyebrow. Wide beam, large open cockpit, high gunwals, large covered bow, no fish gear.

In 1979, while fishing in ENP near Flamingo, we ran across a 30 ft. trawler so overloaded with pot it had run aground. Thinking maybe the smugglers were nearby, we hauled ass out of there. I've never been so scared in my life. The next morning, the boat was docked at Flamingo Marina, being offloaded by DEA agents. Funny thing is we had talked ourselves into going back and grabbing a few bales. Guess we missed our chance.

Fort Lauderdale boy here. I remember in 1986 I was 16 years old bar hopping on the Fort Lauderdale strip during spring break time. My best friend and I met a cool dude about 40 years old at the Candy Store and he had a car. So we drove on AIA going to one bar or another during the night. During cruising around I was sitting in the back seat and there were two closed suitcases in the backseat with me. The older guy told me to open a suitcase and it was full of music cassette tapes. He said, no... the other suitcase. I opened it and 5 kilos of coke were inside. He said he had to do a drop later that night and invited us to come along and he had a couple loaded revolvers in the glove box. All we had to do was sit in the car so he would be more secure during the drop by not being totally alone. All we had to do was sit in the car and each of us holding a gun just in case. He offered us 2,500 cash each for 90 minutes work. I and my friend turned it down because the risk was too high. Any deal that you have to go in armed ain't worth doing. At that time knew a guy that was importing opium laced high grade hashish on two sailboats cross-Atlantic from Afghanistan into a Hollywood waterfront home at the time and I was selling 500 grams a week. Regular hash was selling $10-15 a gram on the street, but this sledgehammer stuff easily sold to the yuppies for $30-40 a gram. Good times.

Unfortunately, Zack is back in jail. So that interview will not be happening. Matt talked about Zacky's current issue on his show a few days ago. He didn't get into details, as he can't at the moment. But he said that Zack had an issue when he got out of jail...and essentially any contact with law enforcement is considered a violation when you are on federal probation... So even though it is a state matter, the feds violate you. So even if this matter gets thrown out or dropped, he will ultimately end up spending at least 6 months in jail.

It seems improved because it is only Danny. The shows suffer when his friend/cohost is there. Koncrete might not be the best 'show', but they somehow find the best guests. This was an absolutely incredible episode. Mostly because Danny let the guest talk. Plus, the guest is a great speaker who knows how to talk. My biggest complaint is that the host, Danny, needs to do some research. I know that he is young. but come on man. The guy didn't even know who Manuel Noriega was. It is the responsibility of the host to do some research before hosting these interviews. Not only on their guest, but they need to know some background info...such as the political climate and happenings of the times being discussed.
