Most of the video I recorded with the super small Insta360 GO 2 action camera attached to the glasses. It’s an ultra wide camera, so I had to crop in a lot to show actual holograms. That’s why the quality is not perfect and holograms look bluish. In reality it looks great. Holograms are sharp with vivid colors.

They've been looking at me do it for about 5 years now. Epson has been making these already. They're called Moverios. I use them for flying drones, watching content and playing PS3,PS4,PS5, Xbox and the Nintendo Switch.

@@RDRJJ if you're going to use the glasses for watching content and mobile gaming from your phone, Nreal are better. You can't use Nreal for drones or gaming consoles yet. It connects via a USB-C and is less bulky and more streamlined. Most people would think you're wearing sunglasses. If you're going to use glasses for drones and console, the bulky Epson Moverio is the choice. Using the Rochester enclosures (blacks out all sources of light) the experience is immersed. It connects to the drone's remote via micro USB and if you want to connect to any HMDI with video output, additionally you'll need the Epson BT-35E module. This allows you to pair the glasses to your Xbox, Playstation or Nintendo Switch.

Maybe 2nd or 3rd gen will be rally usable. This one has nice feature. But it still looks like a fun toy. Connecting to phone via Wi-Fi would be nice. Without cable. But this is a good idea to make it cheaper. It’s only 600. Similar one are 3-4K. With useless feature like iris scan xD who needs those? So I think nreal is awesome, perfect

This makes me super excited for Apple Glass once that inevitably releases. I’d imagine that it’d have larger FOV, more privacy because of LiDAR, and smoother software, but there might even be high refresh rate. Hopefully I’ll be able to own them someday.

Thanks for the great demo. This is helpful! What happens if it’s really dark in the room? I am thinking about picking these up for plane rides but want to make sure it works in darker situations

If it’s really dark in the room two things happens: 1. You need to lower screen brightness 50% for comfort viewing 😄👌 2. Space tracking can be difficult and virtual displays can wobble a little. But! You can always switch to “follow” mode, that way all those virtual screens won’t glue to a particular place in space, but follow your movement. Or just switch to regular screen casting mode, that way you will have one large virtual display which is mirroring your connected smartphone, and it always stays in front of your vision. I watched some content that way and it’s sometimes more pleasant then space pinned virtual display. So it works in the dark 👌

Also, MR apps can switch between 6dof and 3dof. 3dof doesn't use trackers and will work in the dark. But devs have to implement the switch in their apps.

I'm controlling it by the connected smartphone with touch gestures on the screen. Smartphone uses accelerometer and gyroscope to show this virtual line, and by tapping and scrolling on the smartphone screen I control UI in glasses. I hope you understand :)

My main phone is iPhone. Reasons: 1. I love using iPad, Apple Watch and MacBook, with iPhone they all work together nicely. 2. My family and friends use iPhone, so it’s easy to share files with AirDrop, and text with iMessage. 3. I work with social media, it works better with iPhone, Instagram for example. Best quality stories are there. 4. I love recording nice videos, iPhone does it the best.

I have both and like Rokids better, but that's mainly because i need prescription lenses to see clearly on the Nreal set. The rokids are more like an HUD rather than real AR like what Nreal has but I like tend to use them more.

There are different projectors, but I can say for sure that it's much brighter than a similarly priced projectors. It's 1000 nits OLED displays, get's very bright, but I can't recommend using it in bright sunlight.

Nah it's connected to your phone so you can use your phone as an "air mouse" where you just aim the laser pointer and click. It does also come with hand tracking. If you ever used the Quest's hand tracking it's similar in controls.

Your smartphone acts like a laser pointer, touchpad and keyboard when it’s needed. You point at stuff, then tap / scroll on a phone. For the first gen it’s nice, but in the future glasses I want full hands control 🙌

I honestly don’t know… I’m in Latvia (we don’t have Verizon) using unlocked OnePlus 9 Pro, and it works. It currently fully works with Android. But I connected it to my iPad with USB-C, and it works as external display.

I will probably buy it. But for general use, doesn't do that much... On a working environment ti could make much sense, but at home or outside, it will be probably used only for watching videos and using social networks, maybe some games. Nothing that special, considering you basically use mobile contents, and not PC's ones. I worki on IT, and i've seen so many generalistic users... most of the people, even young, doesn't do much. Peronally i will buy these mainly for youtube and streaming platforms. They can be used also outside, maybe on my backyard, at work during the launch break, or is some situation while walking (maybe with Gmaps). But most of the time, these glasses are just an enteirtenment device...nothing more. The "potential" is pretty much it. AR can, and aldredy do, much! But, again, on a working environment and for very specific jobs...
