I'm a plumber in Europe and I've used the first trick once. Not exactly the way he did it tho. Learned it from an old timer. It was in the evening, right before the weekend, everything was closed. I did this patch thing so the clients would have a semi normal weekend. I came back on monday morning and replaced the pipe section and the fittings anew. People frown upon it, but both the clients and myself were more than glad to have a normal weekend. In my opinion, it's ok if you use or in very special circumstances.

It would be interesting. My money would be that those techniques wouldn't hold up in an American plumbing situation. Different compounds, different materials and in the second video in particular you could actually expect the concrete to hold the fix in place as well as all the glue and wire he put around it. I don't think they'd stand up to the pressure from North American pipes though.

Man, I wish I could find the pictures I took working in a Lakeland FL trailer park. This was the most run down place I had ever been to and I did section 8 work in grand rapids mi. The plumbing was nightmare of methhead ingenuity, like really, they used to hire methheads and it showed. Every 20 minute job would end up taking days to sort everything out. Kids toys propping up bathtubs, old beer cans cut and wrapped around cpvc covered with 5 pounds of jb weld or some other epoxy, using that spray leak stop to stop fix sink baskets that were leaking. Almost everyone of these half-assed repairs cost multiple time the cost of repairing things right!

This stuff was unbelievable for repairs but you had to wait at least a day for it to solidify. PVC shavings and MEK work just as well.

As a mexican I have seen lots of first world dwellers be amazed by the creativity we manage here in Mexico. They usually stop doing something or don't know AT ALL how to do something if the right tools or system are available. I even saw aexican dude that didn't even finished high school giving an electrical course to electrical engineers from different countries (korea, japan, usa, germany) specialized in a very complicated factory machine. Sadly he earned way less than them because he didn't have the right papers, even when he knew WAY more. I myself have solved problems while around usonians and Brits and they get the pikachu meme face when they see the very simple solution. I atribuye this to the "chaos" we constantly live in. They having so many rules and regulations makes them very dependant of the methods, the standard. It kills their imagination, their creativity. Even when crossing a street, they have to do it in a very specific way in a very specific place, we cross streets everywhere in Mexico and we function just fine. That excervise our brains to deal with different scenarios, a more organic way of thinking.

I'm an English plumber living in India , it's great fun 😂😂 you have to realise all the water is cold and gravity fed 👍🏼 so there's rarely any pressure. It's surprising what can be done with very basic tools and materials , can't even buy copper tube where I am 🤷🏼‍♂️ and there's no such thing as pushfit . Were spoilt for choice in the west with fittings and materials . It's a very different ballgame here , your lucky if the person turning up to do the plumbing has any tools 🤔🤦🏻‍♂️🙏🏼👳🏽‍♀️

There is a word in India- Jugaad(जुगार)- Only high level technician and engineers are allowed by law to use this technique in India. There involves lots of hard labour and extra intelligent minds to learn these techniques. This is mostly a secret technology, I wonder how it leaked on the net ??? 😉

I am from India, and I never thought that in one country, a plumber will be a successful and educated youtuber, have respect in society, and spend hundreds of dollars on audio gear, and at the same time, in another country, a plumber probably don't even know what KZbin is, have no education, society thinks of them as lower class people, and don't even have enough money to get cloths that, at least, cover their full body.

happens in US too. Little money, family farm, used what we had, way back we plumbed a kitchen sink drain, used 3" PVC downspout underground to buried 55g drum. no reducer for the 1-1/2" sch 40 steel pipe, to 3" downspout connection....so two old socks and some roof tar did the job. Yes, after 35 years the piping had to be redone, the 3" drain was half filled with grease and food bits. But hey, 35 years trouble free use.
