I want to thank you Alba && Manny. You guys saved not only my daughters life but my life as well. Ever since my daughter was a few months old she has been suffering with digestive issues as well as developmental issues and my husband and I couldn't figure out why. We've seen sooo many doctors and therapists that couldn't provide an answer for us. From the moment I seen the first video with you guys speaking on a healthier lifestyle, I completely changed everything from what we eat to our daily activities and we have experienced much success! My daughter is finally smiling and not crying and I couldn't thank you enough for changing our life. Sorry for the grammatical errors...I'm trying to type with tears in my eyes! Thank you for being such an inspiration to me and my family! May God continue to bless you guys abundantly!!

Alba, can you talk about being from a Latina background and dealing with family questioning your choices? I have been vegetarian for more than two years and my Puerto Rican family scolds me for "rejecting my culture." And when I tell them why they say I'm brain washed. Can you talk about how to deal with these cultural issues?

Yes, I agree with you that Alba should give some advice about being Latina and changing the way we eat. My sister gets angry with me because we eat a lot organic food, I took away dairy, red meet and gluten from are diet

You two are really inspirational. A lot of marriages crumble when a child needs more attention, or life didn't turn out exactly how they thought, or what is "the norm". You two are amazing parents! I love what you said at the end about respecting your child and connecting and building understanding. I think that's so important! Although I don't have a child with autism, I parent my children this way as well, and I think most parents should! Rather than wanting your child to conform to whatever is "appropriate"...when you build trust and respect and understanding you're able to have a truly pure relationship with your child & that helps them learn how to interact with the world around them. I admire the changes you've made to your lives in order to keep all of you healthy, and I wish you all a lifetime of happiness! Your little man is so lucky to have parents who take the time to help him be his best self!

Thank you! What you just said is what I want to express to so many. The way we are with our son is how we should be whether he's dealing with something or not. The time for the video is 29:11 and when I saw that Jeremiah 29:11 came to mind, and the scripture says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I believe that is what GOD is doing for y'all! You both are incredible parents and I believe God is working with both of you in finding the best for your son Manny! God sees everything that y'all go through, sacrifices y'all have had to make and all that you are doing to give him a better life, and he will bless you for that! God bless you and your family!

This might be long lol but you guys are really inspiring! I been trying to change my life keeping everything organic and being more aware of what I'm eating because of health issues. I love ur videos you guys are so genuine and down to earth. from the beginning i remember sending ur videos to my cousin who has curly hair she also fell in love with u, I love that you embrace your curls they are gorgeous. The whole eating organic being expensive is true but I rather invest in it and feel good about myself and feel healthy. Fast food really makes me feel like blah and depressed. I ended up losing a lot of weight and honestly feeling more happy &more positive less depressed (mashallah) the vlog you posted awhile ago is what inspired me I threw out all my things with harmful chemicals etc got me some apple cider vinegar lol I always wanted to but you guys gave me that extra push sense I don't really know anybody like you guys & a lot of ppl think I'm being over dramatic I ended up losing a lot of weight ppl said I look "sick" and put me down but then realize after awhile they were same ppl to come back around asking what have I been doing . but anyways keep doing what you guys are doing you guys are great parents I really wanna do the same for my future children.

Omg!!! That little cutie is soo lucky to have such great parents as you!! you guys are doing an amazing job, I am so amazed by you!! I have a cousin who has autism, he is only 2 years old! He lives in Morocco "north africa" and sadly people there have no understanding or whatsoever about autism!! I try so hard to search and learn about autism as much I can to share with them so that they also could understand their son more and get to care for him better!! My aunt is so depressed and just does not know what is wrong with her son, he does not talk nor look at her in her face nor she love!! And she doesn't know what to do!! I went last year to visit and she had him in a room facing a window all day long! They don't talk to him nor play with him because they don't know how to do it!! So I try to share anything that I can find with her and they both are doing so much better even with the little information I share with them.Thank you so much for this video, and please keep sharing with us!! You are helping so many parents understand autism!! Including me, my aunt and her son. You are an inspiration and I can't wait to share your experience and advices with my aunt!!

I've been trying to change the way I eat and the things I use in my everyday life and you guys are a huge inspiration. I was born with many allergies that soon led to asthma and as I got older the lost of allergies have increased. I just recently realized how closely related this was to the food I was eating. But because I am a college student the transition hasnt been the easiest, college tuition is CRAZY high, but im gradually make the changes I need to be a healthier me. Im not on your level yet but I do hope to be there soon. Thank you guys for letting for allowing yourselves to be vulnerable and showing this part of your lives its really opening doors for alot of people.

Small changes at a time can lead to a great start for significant changes. Incase you haven't seen our Eating healthy basics video we speak on this there. You don't have to change it all at once little by little improvements in your shopping and your interest will change. There are important things you can change first to prevent harmful ingredients like the ones in the video I mentioned above.

It really makes me want to cry when I see the love you both express to your son and his needs. My older brother has ADD and ADHD and he just wasn't expressed the support and love for his illness and it shows later on in his life (he is now 24). He now has a son and the way he acts toward his son is how you both act towards yours and it seriously just warms my heart how great of people you are. I think you and your husband's lifestyle is amazing. I've always been a relatively healthy eater (no fried foods, no sodas/only 100% fruit juice, etc), but lately I've started taking it "to the next level" with juicing. I'm still a college student and I live with my parents, so sometimes I don't have a choice but to eat certain things, but when I move out on my own, I definitely want to eat like you guys do. Like you guys said, it is more expensive, but hospital bills and diabetes medication costs more right? Anywho, thank you for sharing your life with us & im sending positive thoughts your way. You guys should look into getting a Kangen water machine if you haven't already. They are really expensive but that water has helped me be able to function normally with my uterine fibroids. As a professional musician, I highly recommend that you expose Manny to music, through group lessons or preferably private instrumental music lessons. Some of the most brilliant musicians of all time have been on the autism spectrum and it can be an amazing outlet for his creativity and for his sensory awareness. Not only is music a wonderful activity for the brain, it is an emotional outlet that can help people regardless of ability or even disability. I love your channel and I'm so glad you're sharing this journey. Also, props for not having a sitter. My parents had a sitter for me less than five times throughout my childhood and I think it made a hugely positive impact on my life!

Love to you all from a teacher and autism mom. There is so much research documenting how too much "screen time" at an early age can be detrimental to young children. I love that you have noticed the difference in limiting screen time. Steve Jobs famously didn't let his children use technology. Walking outside with your son and keeping him active, engaged with others, and involved in social skills will continue to help him. For a lot of families with autism, staying "hidden" is easier because you don't have to deal with stares and extra work (my 15 year old doesn't talk). But that becomes counterproductive because autistic children withdraw more if they don't get social opportunities. Keep up the great work, and it is work, but your son deserves it! And I know my partner and I support each other because it can get stressful. May you continue to find strength in each other.

Please continue making these kinds of videos. They are so helpful. Because of you guys i want to change my whole life around. I want to become a healthier person. I am 24-years-old and I don't have any kids yet, but before i do i want to be at the point where you guys are today. All 3 of you bring such an encouragement to my life and i thank you so much for that. I now am so alert about the things that i eat and stuff like that. You see, because of all the fast food that i used to eat i ended up gaining so much weight and because of that i now have some unhealthy stuff going on in my body as well. Even the food that i buy is not good for me at all. They have soooo much chemicals. But watching your videos and hearing your story and how healthy you guys are being for your son Manny and yourselves and how much it has improve your lives is such an amazing thing to know. I am constantly surrounded with all of these advertisements, places, and things that don't care about our health just our money. But you guys don't know what a change you have made in my life. Thank you again so much for sharing your story. May God keep blessing you guys each and everyday and may he keep guiding you in the right path, in Jesus Christ, Amen. :)

I would just like to say thank you to Alba and Manny for speaking out on the things that they feel so strongly about knowing that there's always a chance for negative feedback. I wish you both the very best for you and your son. You'll definitely be in my prayers. I'm Puerto Rican and about 5 years ago I slowly started adjusting my eating habits along with my family. About two to three years ago I participated in the Daniel Fast for religious purposes. I am a Christian. It was 41 days long. During that time I never got a cold, I had an abundance of energy, my skin cleared up, and my sensitive stomach was no longer a problem. Not only did I see the fruits of it spiritually, but physically as well. The original fast is normally 21 days, but I decided to double it. During this time I was going through a lot and I cannot begin to explain how much eating right helped my body and my spiritual walk. After the fast ended I very slowly tried to incorporate other foods back into my diet, but my body would get so confused. I no longer craved processed sugars the way that I used to, and as much as I love chicken my body wasn't really asking for it anymore. So I had to listen to how my body was responding and continued to eat the way that I had been eating for those 41 days. My family and friends thought that I was trying to lose weight and would constantly question me. At family gatherings I was always in the spot light as everyone was eating arroz con gandules, pernil, and drinking cups upon cups of pepsi and cola champagne (yes, I still miss that cola champagne). Eventually I started incorporating regular food back into my diet because I was young and felt guilty that my food was financially a lot to handle for my parents although they always supported me. Within no time at all I developed acid reflux also led on by stress. I wanted to stay away from medicine, but there was so much going on in my life. My parents were getting divorced, and eventually I ended up in the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. Ironically, they handed me a paper listing what to eat and what not to eat which was very similar to the Daniel Fast with certain exceptions. I'll never forget the piercing pain that would radiate throughout my stomach up to my sternum and esophagus, or the taste of the clear "liquid" that they made me drink. Or the cocktail of three "medicines" that they prescribed me. 4 days after taking the medicines exactly as directed by my GI my body went into shock and could not handle what it was receiving. I was in my bed and my blood pressure had dropped to approximately 80/60, I had a fever of 103, I had cold sweats, and was hallucinating. My mom told me so was almost certain that I was going to flat line that night as she checked my BP on our machine that we had at home. I could barely keep down vegetable broth let alone chicken broth. It may sound like an exaggeration, but I truly thought that was going to be my last day on earth. I was only 17 years old. Immediately I stopped taking the medicine. My mom called my doctor, not even an apology on their behalf. Just a follow up appointment and an over the counter prescription which wasn't "as strong". All of this was during pre-season for lacrosse. I almost couldn't play. Since then I've figured out which foods I can handle, how often, and in what amounts. I still suffer from acid reflux, but not nearly as much. The only thing I know for sure being 20 now is that my life and my health are far more important than what anyone else could possibly say about me, be it family, friends or strangers. I've experienced eating "normally" and it's nothing to be proud of. Feeling tired, sluggish, worn out, never having enough energy, always breaking out, feeling bloated. For me it had nothing to do with weight. I simply wanted to LIVE. I wanted to live without having a stomach ache 24/7, or a headache, or anything like that. I'm slowly returning to a clean eating life style and it's one of the most comforting feelings. It hasn't been long, but I'm already feeling the positive changes. I know that financially it's going to be difficult especially being a college student, but it's something that I need to do. Knowing what lies ahead and the energy that I'm going to have will be completely worth it. I'm so grateful that God gave me a second chance at life. Even if it cost more money or more time, I will not mess up this time. Life is too precious. If you're considering eating healthy and somehow just read this long essay lol, please trust me when I tell you it's worth it. Your health is not a game. Take care of your body. It's the only one you've got...

I can't express how much you guys have helped me… Alba, you are so inspiring and you have helped me completely change my mind about my hair. I never liked my curly hair until I started watching your videos and you gave me a greater and fuller understanding on how to take care of it. I was also born in DR and coming from a Dominican family, my mother has always permed her hair and she's never known how to deal with my hair. Because of you, my hair is as healthy as it will ever be. I decided to get rid of our WiFi and now that you guys have started your About That Life series, I've been reflecting on how much my family has been affected by the Internet. We are now spending more family time together and I can't thank you guys enough for your advice.

I'm so happy that I found your family. Our son is on the autism spectrum diagnosed with Aspergers. It's a constant challenge for him but we have done the behavioral modification and therapy sessions. Also great contact with the school and support from the teachers and staff. He has overcome so much and is our little hero. The positive helps so much. I will enjoy watching your family and learning along with you guys.

We read about a family who fled Germany because they were homeschooling I believ you can google "Romeiki family homeschool" and more info will come up. We are trying to be as careful as possible and only want the best life for him. We are applying the son-rise program at the moment which encourages the child to be homeschooled but doesn't require it. He is 5 years old and we might choose to homeschool this school year depending on his progress and what he feels most comfortable with.

I almost feel like my input would be irrelevant to share because you guys know a lot more than I do about living a clean and organic lifestyle... But I like a lot of Michael T. Murray's books, so if you haven't checked out any of his work you should give it go And I just want to say I really appreciate these vlogs! I really learn off something from this. My grandfather has been living an organic lifestyle for such a long time (and it got a little stricter when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer). My grandmother did pass, but I feel like my grandparents living in Hawaii and living a healthy lifestyle really made her live beyond her expected years. I actually plan to visit my grandfather this summer to receive some insight from his lifestyle because this man is really in shape (mind and body). I really look up to people like yourselves, and hope to achieve a happier and healthier way of living Sorry for the blabber haha...Thank you so much! I love you guys :)

Where do I begin? I watched the first video without sound so I didn't know what was going on and later on learned about little Manny through your Instagram posts. Thank you for sharing this information and pls continue to share. I went to the doctor on my birthday and the doc said I may have lupus because there's inflamation in all of my muscles. I instantly started to blame myself for what I eat and basically not taking care of myself. Then I decided I don't want to deal with traditional doctors, I wanted to take the natural route with everything but did not know where to start, typical me I just froze and didn't want to deal with the situation at all. Thank you so so much for all these alternative lifestyle tips, I am slowly doing a 360 with my lifestyle, eating habits, etc... Getting that water filter and the ceramic pans. The farmer's markets are so far from where I live but I'm going to make it my business to make it there every week. Thx again for sharing ❌⭕️

I couldn't possibly be more thankful for these two vlogs you've posted! Despite not dealing with the same circumstances, it's incredible how sharing what you've done for little Manny and yourselves can spark such a yearning to do the same for us. My little brother was born two weeks ago, and from the moment he was born I knew I wanted to take the initiative to help raise him such as you raise Manny, health-wise. Thank God I have parents who are eager to learn these ways too, they just watched your videos and were so happy to learn about what you guys had to say! - Also, of course, I can't wait to start changing my lifestyle for my own benefit! I'm only 19 but I deal with PCOS and other things that could potentially threaten the way I want to live my life in the future. I'd love to see how my diet could play a vital role in curbing the toll these things take on my body! The mere fact that what we put into our bodies becomes of us is enough to inspire me for a lifetime. So, THANK YOU TWO! It's because of you that I've began doing my research and reading books on all relatable topics. You've helped plant the seed and I'm ready to do the work in order for it to grow and flourish in my life and in the lives of the loved ones around me! God Bless yall!

Said it before, said it again, but you guys are an inspiration. I'm studying naturopathic nutrition so know about most of the things you're referring to, but I struggle to keep up with all the reading, all the research, making a decision about what to implement and then actually doing it! And I only have myself and a full time job to maintain. How you do it, plus KZbin, plus consciously raising a healthy family is amazing. To find two people who love each other, who fully support each other and are like minded when it comes to putting their health and their family first is truly a blessing also. Final point, I live in London and having just come back from where my dad was born in the Caribbean I've decided I need to move closer to the sun and a more natural way of living too. The vitamin D just feels so much more vibrant, I actually glow! Thanks for sharing your story. Wishing you all the best. Manny you are great and so heartfelt. Love you too, Alba 😊x

May I ask about the WiFi being harmful? I'm curious now lol. I don't want it affecting me or my family
@creolan
@creolan 9 жыл бұрын
***Edit: To be clear... There's not much evidence from peer-reviewed scientific research that supports that WiFi, or radio waves, pose a danger to human health. If you're curious about the research, take a look at the study below, as an example. Mice exposed to radio waves over a long period of time, did not exhibit differences in development, memory, or learning. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25251701 If a WiFi signal can pass through walls, it certainly can pass through living things. The thought is that WiFi exposure can affect the biology and chemistry of living things at the cellular level, similar to X-rays or UV rays from the sun. I can see how this would make WiFi signals sound dangerous to most. However, a WiFi signal transmits energy in the form of radio waves (radios and cell phones also transmit waves of this energy type) and radio waves are very low energy. They have much much much less energy than visible light waves. So given that they're low energy, the likelihood of any radio wave causing damage to cells or organisms, is extremely low. And still, most living things have repair processes in place to fix any damage to the cell. Even if WiFi exposure could harm one's health, we should be much more concerned about visible light waves since they're higher energy (so, would that mean we should always keep the lights turned off???). This comment is not at all to negate any of the life style choices Alba and Manny are making. I think this video was fantastic and a great example of taking control over our own (and our family's) health! Researching everything is key. Since research evolves and our thought process evolves as we attain more knowledge, empowering ourselves towards optimal health is an ever changing and dynamic process. Thanks again for the video and best wishes with your family's new start in LA!!

***** Unfortunately it's impossible to eliminate exposure to radio waves because they occur in nature (produced by lightening, the sun, and other celestial objects) and are critical for a lot of man-made technology. You can reduce your exposure but you'd likely have to make significant lifestyle changes (no technology that's "wireless", no GPS, nothing that requires an antenna or receiver, no cell phones, no going to places where any of these things exist). I'm not sure if that's feasible or worth the effort in most parts of the world...

It makes me frustrated with myself because I realize how much I've dropped the ball with my son. Sometimes we take the easy way..."yeah go watch spongbob"...that's the worste. But life gets busy blah blah.....your so inspiring. The commitment. Learned so much. I would like to learn more about that vinegar drink u make. Perhaps food tutorials of snacks u make Manny. I think that is the hardest struggle besides technology in my house. I want to throw the tv out the window right now.

You guys are on the right track :) I completely changed everything in our lives when my son was diagnosed at age 3. His grandmother would write him letters from the U.K to our home in America so he could read them at night to his baby dolls and me. I completely went back to the basics on everything and its done wonders. Our son is now 10 and is doing great. He's been placed in a school for gifted children and one thing I'm so grateful for is all the awareness now on Autism. God Bless your family :)

you are both such loving, strong parents. I'm a special school teacher and you see so many kids go through that have never had any help or guidance or had anyone understand them. its so important to start implementing things early on to help them be the best version of themselves, and i commend you both on being so dedicated. you're a gorgeous family and I'm so glad i stumbled upon these videos. one bit of advice, i understand technology can be over stimulating and can become a bad habit however there are some amazing aps for kids that either struggle with speech for example, or simple learning aps that can build skill and strengthen neural path ways. its not for everyone, but i have seen its benefits :) its all about patience and love x

As an Occupational Therapist I love how proactive you are, keep up the incredible work you're doing. The sensory toys and books are great, something I would suggest is allowing him to do an activity involving lights/music at least once a week or so, in order to prevent him from becoming overwhelmed when he does come across these things in public or later in life. By what you said about the plane experience, it sounds like he is learning to self-regulate which is fantastic :)

You guys are so inspiring!! I am only 19 and you inspire me already to one day become as an amazing parent like you. This is literally what role model is about, seriously. The part of supporting your adorable son, not just physically (through organic lifestyle) but also through mentally support... I just agree with everything! Keep spreading that message guys! Dealing with health issues myself (bedbound by CFS and Fibromyalgi) for several years, along with ADHD, it made me rethink about what I put in my body. So, organic lifestyle associated with daily detox, did not only reduced my physical symptoms, it also minimized the frustration and the "everyday-lacks" caused by my ADHD. I no longer have to worry about the future anymore! And it's amazing. Can only thank God for! Now I feel somehow free, calm and satisfied both with what life has to offer and with myself, for the first time. (Sorry for "the essay", just wanted to share and emphasize that this practicing in the form of health really outweigh everything else in long term. At least for me:)). Wishing you all the best!

Although I can't really relate with your situation i just want to let you know how much I've learned about living a more natural lifestyle through your channel. My father passed away from cancer in 2012 so it really made me reevaluate my own lifestyle and what I put in and on my body because I never realized how many harmful chemicals are in stuff that we use and consume on a daily basis. My husband and I always discuss how we will be raising our future kids with a similar natural approach to things and I'm constantly bugging my older sister telling her all negative side effects about all the fast food and crap she feeds my nephews smh. So thank you for inspiring people to live a healthier lifestyle
