Jess, as someone who grew up with her emotions never truly validated, I'm so glad you told Landen "it's ok to feel frustrated". The best thing a parent can do is validate their kid's emotions - even when it's tough.

Yes!!! Do you happen to listen to Glennon Doyle’s podcast? They recently talked about this on there, how the worst thing in the world is to tell someone to not feel the way they feel, just validate how they’re feeling and it will immediately almost magically make them feel better.

Aww Landon, it’s heartbreaking to see you so sad. Moms right on this, you can’t do all the stuff you want to do right now. I’m so surprised you don’t have more pain and so glad you don’t. You need to definitely need to rest and heal so you can get back to your regular play, you definitely don’t want to get it hurt more so you don’t need surgery. When I had a cast it was really hard to get used to at first but after the first week or two it got better. I started getting used to what I could and couldn't do. Hopefully Landen can find something he enjoys that he can actually do.

I feel for Landon, when I was a little younger than him I fell out of a shopping cart and broke my arm in two places. The day I got my cast off my mom took me to a park and I tripped over some tree roots and rebroke my are in two places. But I know Landon is a smart and brave little champ and he will be able to do so many talented things one handed in till he is 100% again!!! From one mother to another I am sending you extra superpowers to get through this. It's always harder on us to watch our babies hurt or be sad!!! Bless her heart,Lil Addie. She was doing everything to make brother feel better. Her idea to refill the Easter eggs and hunt them was famtastic! And Addie could see how torn up Jessica was hearing Landon cry and she gave momma stickers and comforted her. I've seen Addie called a brat so many times and it always makes me so angry knowing that my own kids aren't always "Instagram ready" all the time and we all have our moments. Heck she really still preschool aged!!! Mini Miss Jessica (Addie) is turning out to be so mature, sweet, smart, funny, and true to life. Seeing her take off into gymnastics the other day made me realize how much growing up she has done in the last year despite a pandemic, hous e move, losing a close family membe ... GO ADDIE! I vividly remember watching the vlog where Landen broke his arm before his fourth birthday trip to Disneyland and he ended up with a Hulk green cast. He was very brave then and he’s just as brave, if not braver, now. He’s got this 💙

You seem like such a good mom. I haven't ever really watched you guys before but some of your videos came up in my recommended so I watched them, and just in all of them you seem so caring and loving towards your kids. And the fact that you didn't show Landon's face when he was crying just says so much about you. I know a lot of KZbin family who film their children's whole meltdowns and will show their face and just the whole thing. I think it's really good that you still share with your viewers what's going on but still respect your children's privacy. I juat think that's great 🙂

when I shattered my elbow as a kid I remember being devastated about not being able to play with my friends. my parents definitely accommodated by getting toys that I could play with! like hand held toys! I did go through a few DS lites too 😅

I had surgery on my arm when I was 16 and was in a full arm cast for 12 months. I remember how frustrating it was to lose some of my independence. The thing I struggled with was asking for help. I feel like you handled the situation with Landen so well. You never let your frustration show in your conversation with him. I think all you kids will go back when they are older and watch your videos, recognizing how well they were loved and supported.

Land on is such a remarkable young man. Nothing phrases him. As for injuries. I've had many operations because of my disease Rheumatoid Arthritis.Each time you recover from not being able to you and arm. Or hand. Etc. You just naturally educate yourself to do basic tasks differently. I'm sure Landon has done this. He is a very clever young man.. Love all your children. They are just so much fun. So sorry this happened to Landen. My son broke his arm in kindergarten and for 2 weeks he had no cast because they first diagnosed him with a sprain until his broken bone popped up and I took him to emergency again. Then I was told he may need surgery, it was so scary. Thankfully a cast fixed it but still as Moms we can't see our babies in pain. You're an amazing Mom, your kids are so lucky to have you ❤

i dislocated my ankle and broke my fibula 2 years ago and actually had to have surgery. not being able to do anything for 3 months was so incredibly frustrating. as an adult it was extremely difficult to handle, i can’t even imagine having to deal with it as a kid. just keep reiterating that it’s not forever even though it may feel like it. you’ll be back to your normal active self in no time, landen! ♥️

Validating Landen’s frustration was so important. When I was little, a friend cancelled a sleepover and I was so sad because I had planned a bunch of things for us to do. My mom told me “it’s okay to cry, these things happen and sometimes you just have to cry it out” and I will remember that forever.

I broke my ankle in two places and one of the breaks split about halfway up my leg. I had the same debate about whether it would be considered a leg or ankle fractue, and they said it was technically an ankle fracture. They had to put a bunch of screws and a couple plates in

I was never allowed to have big emotions from anger to sadness to frustration among others without being made to feel like I was doing something wrong. Thank you so much for letting Landon know his feelings are valid and helping him with a way of coping (focusing on the positives, what can be done not what can’t be) with said frustration. As an adult I still really struggle to manage my big emotions so this will be an amazing lesson among what I imagine are many more behind the scenes to help him cope as an adult without you 💞.

I love his confidence though and how Addy is so supportive. You got this Landon! An activity you could do is one handed bean bag toss or simon says or drawing. All I liked about my cast when I broke my arm, was having everyone sign it. Your such a good mom the way you handled that with him! Hope he gets better soon!

I just want to thank you for your vlogs, I’ve been watching for forever & have been so inspired by what a kick ass mom you are! I just gave birth to our first baby, Sadie Faye on the 7th at 1:53am. Unfortunately she’s in the nicu at the moment (she had fluid in her lungs) she’s passing every milestone with flying colors & off every machine that was supporting her just 2 days ago! Breastfeeding & pumping for her has been an amazing process but so beyond difficult. Being able to watch your videos for a double pump session during such a hard time has brought me so much joy. Thank you 💗
