It's part of their narrative and emotional connection to AOC considering how well he played towards the end of last season, it's how they cope. That and how Davante favored him. But if you were to put AOC in yesterday's game against the Chargers, he'd be sacked far more times than Minshew imo. But Sanjit and others like us who think AOC wouldn't have helped much are probably more likely to be correct, AOC when protected can be a statue until the sun dies out to throw the ball. But after seeing how our Oline struggled yesterday, there was no chance AOC was going to be making many successful plays unless he was throw as many if not more screen passes as Minshew or handing the ball off to an RB just to prevent himself getting injured.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head, Sanjit! Now, i believe I have earned my right to rant. I have been saying for years we need to build a dominant O line. Late in the Lions/Rams game they had a shot behind and above Goff and i could see the names of all five starters for the Lions" OL, and I almost wept out of pain and envy. I said when we lost out on Pennix that OL became our #1 concern. I know all the love Raider Nation has for Bowers, but yesterday showed that without a much improved OL whoever is behind Center is in a war zone. We could have had Fuaga and we will pay for not picking him. I know people will think I'm just eating sour grapes, but look at Alabama's game. At home against S Florida and we were getting embarrassed. Our starting RT was dinged up and we thought we should hold him out so he wouldn't get a worse injury, but we had two long TDs called back for OL penalties, plus had other OL sloppy penalties that crippled our offense. In the third quarter we had to put the starting RT back in and the offense rose from the dead. The OL settled down and we scored 21 points in the fourth on two long running plays and one passing bomb. ONE great O lineman can do that much to change the line.
@lutherandross31657 күн бұрын
Given the o-line play, and the lack of run game, I actually think Minshew did a commendable job outside of that idiotic fumble. There’s really only maybe 3-4 QBs in the entire league in any given year that could go win games without a decent run game (we all saw how wonder boy Herbert did when the raiders were stuffing the run). I don’t think there’s any reason to panic yet. We’ll see if they can clean it up within the next few weeks.

I figure the first 1/4 of the season will be when they put it together.

Then Antionio was caught off guard and shouldn't have punted but in his defense every fourth and 1 hadn't been successful and costed them so I understand the thought process. Just bad decision after bad decision.... How do you bench the guy who, last year,had a 63 point game,4 touchdowns before half time,8 touchdowns-no ints in his last 4 games-and you start the next season playing that team?? How do you think you're building THAT guy 's confidence?...He was the last one to beat Mahomes...looks like the head coach and OC is coaching Scared!!

Sanjit you are now probably the best content creator for the Raiders. Your intellect and talent is evident. True your family may have preferred a Doctor, but we all appreciate and enjoy your hard work. -TJ Concord CA

It was evident when white ran with aggression , he had some ok north south runs, but it was the inconsistency in effort for me.

So they make the back up qb the stsrter because he has more experience or in reality its the wrong decision because your starting backup is erratic runs out of the pocket then either fumbles or misses his target because his feet are not set, he has a horrible pocket presence, and misses his reads, no matter what AOC would have produced a whole different dynamic and actually still found a way towards a dub under alot of pressure, he still did his part did not turn the ball over and is respected for his accuracy and ball placement, he is willing to take a hit just to give his receivers enough time to get open, are we forgetting that AOC just kept on improving from one game to the next he has already proven in making adjustments necessary to improve, O line a wreck, OC horrible play calling, damn our worst nightmare on season opener the Chargers did nothing special, Harbaugh seen right through our play calling, made some halftime adjustments game over.

I love how you try to be positive. but the season is done. we need a top 3 pick and grab a QB and start over

Chargers fan here, I thought the Raider defense looked very solid the whole game. The Chargers defense won the day and may be very under rated right now. Brandon Staley, the Chargers former head coach would have probably lost this hard fought game.

The piss pore play calling has to be stopped by Ap. He may have to get involved in the playcalling and the game plan!!!!

It starts in the preseason. Just because they don't count, doesn't mean that they don't matter. Starters need to fine tune their game but don't seem to care about meaningless games.

Can we get an offensive film breakdown of this game? I feel like Gardner played well for what he was asked to do and considering the offensive line is atrocious.

You nailed it. Good job on the film breakdown. Essentially, we have a coaching staff that is learning and gaining experience along the way. That's why AP has retired head coaches on staff to help teach him as he leads the way as the team's HC. It's just they it got to be. We purchased penny stock and now we have to see if it grows enough to sell it or maybe strike it rich. Maybe that was a bad analogy. 😂

I also think we need to blitz LESS now, we have a dominant front let those guys work as we need to help on the back end and linebackers need to stay gap discipline to fit runs

Only 2 reasons. 1 2nd string QB starting with the first team. 2. O-Line looked like Swiss Cheese with all the holes the chargers made

I’m not sure why no body’s talking about how our defense got the ball ran down their throat all game! To give up 46 and 47 yard rushes on third down is terrible defense. The lack of run defense alone is why we lost this game. The Chargers played terrible and any other team that played opening weekend would have beaten them but us. Ridiculous. Should have never given up 22 points to that team. The entire offense sucked too, but in all reality, scored enough to win if the defense stepped up more.

Impossible to apply a variety of offensive play calls when run game is non existent. I loved the way san francisco played offense today. Run run run to set up play action. I think getsy tried it but oline was not executing, run game was failing. Running to the chargers defensive strength.

Sanjit!!! Thanks for the honesty. Coach P came in all bad ass and he got scared on fourth and 1, going balls out got him the job and he went away from it. 2 great tight ends!!! Come on where was a play action play?????? Where was the deep passes??? Dam, it’s so frustrating!

A non-emotional non-baseless evaluation? By a Raiders fan??? Inconceivable! :) Well done. PS. It certainly doesn't help that we wasted a 2nd round pick of an OL'man on a cripple.
@bellgreenrose6 күн бұрын
The OC can only do so much. It’s the players that have to make the play work. A QB is more valuable and has to do more with the offense than the OC.
