Thanks for touching on having perseverance when it comes to swinging a detector about. I've gotten many a flake, and a few nugs panning the streams and dry washes of Arizona, but yet to find anything with a detector. Now that the technology has been elevated to a new level since I last detected, I might have to pick up a new Minelab, and get to swingin again..thanks mate.

I like your opening. People have to remember that they already are a success. They got out of their house. They got some great time with nature. They spent time cleaning mother earth. They had some good excerise. They already did great things. Gold it is the icing on the cake. If you are just out ... you have won ... you have done something great. Find something outside that gets you out and get out. 👵✌

You are spot on mate. Metal detecting is more than just digging something out of the ground. It’s like fishing, you don’t always catch a fish, but it’s better than working. 👍😉😀

Im a self taught prospector. This is 100% accurate. I made the jump 3 years ago to full time prospector after many years of hobby prospecting. Its not easy yes its cut throat industry and yes your constantly fighting for ground. Finding the gold isn't the hard part for me anymore its trying to keep it to myself. Thanks for your video mate 👍

Thanks Matt, you have provided a very accurate description of life with a gold detector. I am still using my GPZ 7000 and still finding gold (I live in Victoria) but the biggest learnings have come from within. Do not go out detecting to 'cool off' or detect in a bad mood (IF I AM IN THIS MINDSET I AM BETTER OFF JUST SITTING UNDER A GUMTREE) see, i'm yelling already. But seriously there are some strategies I will share, firstly go and buy about 40 metres of polyester rope, I use this to lay out like a cricket pitch, when you walk into the bush and its 1000 ha in size it is overwhelming, so break it down into bite size pieces (eat a piece of the cake, not the whole thing) This strategy is called 'span of control' and will keep my head in the right space as I will detect the roped area LEFT to RIGHT, then up and back, change coils, then change settings to find deep, shallow, large or small gold. (if I am feeling strong I will rake the roped area) And remember, I am doing this with Parkinson's Disease but when I feel bad I just look around at others who are worse off. My point is this, stick at detecting, you will find gold, it took me 18 months to find my first nugget and then another 3 months for a second piece.

Wow, Bloody awesome advice right there mate. Thanks for sharing and caring. So many folks think they will buy a metal detector and the gold will magically come to them. People need to take a realistic approach and appreciate the journey before the discovery. 👍🇦🇺⚒️😀

Fantastic mate, patience and persistence is the golden rule. There’s a treasure out there with your name on it. Just gotta walk over it with the detector.

Great video mate Amateur prospector since I bought a 2100 17 years ago .plenty of goldless days also some great days out goldwise .but every single day in the bush is a fantastic day. And I don't sell my gold it's not about money it's the experience. Do your research. Teach a newbie the mates you will make the great nights around the campfire the laughs the stories about the 2 ft deep hole with an old rabbit trap in it (dug a lot of them )but also plenty of gold from sub grammars to muti ounce .it's just gold but the real value is the friendships made the peace of mind while your out in the australian bush

Thanks Matt for all the tips and hints and encouragement. I found my first bits of gold, small but still its gold. after about 7 months of learning. Research was definitely the key, and dont be afraid to try something different. I was keen before, but now im hooked and can't wait until it drys out so I can go back and have another crack.

i had a gold monster 1000, found a lot of hot rocks while i had it, the 2nd year i had the gm it found one (1) single piece of gold. i found a pile of old tailings, the gold i found there was too small for the gm to pick up, i gave up on the gm and am working the tailings pile fulltime, and have found a lot of oh so tiny gold, but more than i ever found with the gm. i regret spending what i did to buy the gm, but its too late now, so lesson learned the hard way.

With the gold I have found with the GM1000, I have paid for it 8 times.
