You seem to have mixed regular hive ship and the zpm enhanced super hive. When you discussed hives being larger than Atlantis you are showing image from the fight between Atlantis and super hive not regular hive. I think Daedalus once landed on a landing pad at the end of one of Atlantis piers so comparing that relative size to the graph about Daedalus against a hive contrasts with your claim about hive's size.

There are conflicting size reports all across the Atlantis series. The Aurora class Ancient Battleships were 3,500 meters long, and apparently Atlantis could dock 2 on each pier. That would make each pier over 7 kilometers long from the point they separate from the center of the city. That would have Atlantis at roughly 20,000 meters across at the base. If you take it the city ship could house 4 million people, with some sort of food growing facilities, manufacturing facilities etc, the 20 kilometer width actually starts to fit.
@white_red_dragons56543 жыл бұрын
Your 3500m long are taken from the wiki. If you haven't noticed there is even a disclaimer telling you that these numbers are absolute Bs.and just pulled out of someones S. If you think the Wiki has accurate dimensions check out the 302 hyperspace figther page where it gives you a wingspan of 75 freaking meters. Further more City Ships housing 4 million people and Ancient Battleships "docking" with a city ship appear to be speculation of the highest degree. At Human scale, using in-series references a Aurora Type ship is at max 850-900 meters long.

Love Atlantis with the Puddle Jumpers and Aurora Class Battle Ships. Puddle Jumpers were awesome. They turn the cloaks into shields and add a Hyperdrive to short hop.
@krane153 жыл бұрын
Just to be clear, the Ancients never equipped the Puddle Jumpers with hyper-drive. That was a prototype, and put together by McKay.
2 жыл бұрын
None of those were in the original specs though, and neither was Atlantis using its shield as a cloak. Shows the difference between Ancients and us. Ancient: "It's a small ship that was designed to go through the gate and only use its weapons as a last resort! It was never meant to have hyperdrives or shields!" Tau'ri: "I don't give a shit what it is _supposed_ to do, I only care about what it _can_ do!" Shows why they lost the war against the Wraith while the Tau'ri with their much more limited technology were winning. Hell, if the Ancients had realized half of these hacks, they could have kept ambushing Wraith hives coming out of hyperspace for hull regeneration with cloaked Aurora-class battlecruisers. Or just shut down the Gate network with a command embedded in the correlative update system (like the Avenger virus), activate the Attero device and just wait a bit. I guess that's what you get when your society is bound by literal millions of years of baggage.
@tylersoto74652 жыл бұрын
If could of taken hundreds or thousands of staff weapons from the gao'uld and use the naquadah vials from them and hooked 1-2 to the puddle jumpers to give them more power etc , and would of been very great to add a auto cannon and simple missiles on the puddle jumpers for more firepower and with a tactical nuke hitched under it if need to blow up a wraith ship or something, , add dozens of anti aircraft missile systems around Atlantis to defend against enemy aircraft etc and maybe cruise missiles with a tactical nuke for anti ship capabilities

I've always imagined what it would be like if they were able to get to Destiny to save the crew, and in doing so they were able to bring all the technology that they had accumulated on SG-1 and SG Atlantis over to the Destiny. They could completely repair the Destiny and restore her to her original glory, and integrate not only updated Ancient technology to the Destiny, but also integrate the Asgard technology to the Destiny. Imagine a perfectly restored Destiny where they add four intergalactic hyperdrive engines, a fully integrated Asgard power core with upgraded energy beam weapons and transport beaming technology. Then update the power systems so that Destiny is run on anywhere from 4-6 ZPM's. Yes, that would be overkill, but then they could delegate what power systems are used on what. Destiny could still use the original power systems that need to be recharged by a sun for the minimal systems on the ship, the Asgard power core for the secondary systems above the minimal systems, and then the ZPM's for higher functioning systems. Then imagine that McKay and Carter are able to stabilize the wormhole drive technology so it's not so destructive or all power consuming so that it can be utilized on Destiny which would allow them to bring her back to either the Pegasus galaxy or the Milky Way. Destiny would keep its skin shields, and then could have either an Atlantis type secondary shield added for added protection to go along with a cloaking device like Atlantis has. The phasing technology could be added to Destiny as well as the time dilation technology that comes with the Asgard power core system. The learning platform that's on Atlantis could be added to Destiny as well that would also include the Asgard knowledge base, and then imagine if Carter, Jackson, and McKay designed a program that converted all of the Ancient and Asgard knowledge and writings in their systems to English making it easier for everyone to work on their systems. Destiny could also be upgraded to only work with the Ancient gene, so that the bridge can be upgraded, and a proper chair room could be installed. Destiny would have the Asgard beaming technology added like I said before, but would also keep the original energy pulse firing canons that it has as well, but would also have Ancient drones added to its arsenal making Destiny a truly scary ship to go up against, and also the flagship of the SGC. Yea I'm a nerd.

The Ancients absolutely did not give the humans a helping hand to build space-ships. That's a major recuring theme throughout all of SG1, and somewhat SGA as well. The Ancients, once ascended did absolutely *nothing* to help the people on the mortal plane. They adhere to the principal of non-interference, as they believe free will, and an ascended being is pretty powerful, enough to make a mortal believe them to be gods, which is what the Ancients want to avoid (unlike their brethern, the Ori). There are a few ascended Ancients that did help the Tau'ri (somewhat), but you can count them all on one hand. And the city-ship Atlantis was originally located in Antarctica, before the Ancient had to flee the Milkyway galaxy due to a pleague (send by the Ori), and ended in Pegasus.

People usually think Atlantis is bigger than it actually is, because in the show it's compared to Manhattan. However, this is a misunderstanding...what they are actually saying in the show is the internal volume of all the buildings in the city, is the same as the internal volume of all the buildings in Manhattan. The "buildings" on Atlantis are much closer together, and also extend quite a bit farther vertically. So yes, it's big, but it's not the size of Manhattan. Also, the hive ship you showed as being bigger than Atlantis was a unique one that they hacked a bunch of ZPM's into, which made it grow MUCH larger. Regular hive ships are large, but they aren't "dwarf Atlantis" large.

Researching for this video, given you some spoilers since you haven’t watched all of Stargate. Maybe Atlantis isn’t the size of Manhattan, but somewhere they say searching Atlantis is like searching the whole of Manhattan. So the towers are taller and have more area than Manhattan even if it’s length is shorter. That Hive ship that was able to disable the Daedalus, is a super hive. It’s powered by a few ZPM, hyperdrive is extragalactic, weapons a more powerful and the ship is more dense. The Daedalus, powered by a ZPM can hold its own against a normal hive ship.
@davidd9250 Жыл бұрын
I think the official Ori ship length is off. Given that the Daedalus is really around 650m when you look at its internal hanger space compared to an F-302. The Ori ships are many times larger than a BC-304 and are likely closer to 2.5km in length. This is also seen in the episode where an Ori ship is rammed by a Ha'Tak, the Ha'tak is a fraction of the Ori ships size despite being 700m.
@05-15.3 жыл бұрын
Ok as an avid watcher of stargate I wil not dispute the size of the ship's except one. The Ori mothership is constantly miss sized if you use the 2nd Ori supergates inside diameter of 1600 meters and see in season 9 episode 20 the Ori mothership is slightly narrower than the gates inside diameter. Seeing this the Ori mothership is approximately 1550~ meters in with and 2000~ meters in length and 300~ meters in height.

Atlantis was a bit of an missed opportunity. It is supposed to be a mobile city but it rarely moved and rarely had more then a handful of people onboard. Computer animation can fill the streets in the distance so it wouldn't be that hard to create the illusion of the city being populated.

Seems he mixed that and regular hive, like when he compared hive ship size to Atlantis while showing Atlantis and the super hive.

There has been several episodes when people go from the tower to the pier and sai it to be "miles", if we take minimum of 2 miles it will be about 3200 meters from center to the edge, meaning minimum of 6400 meters. Please do not quess, use the cannon data.

I'm not Canadian, but I object to the response being, "I'm sorry." That's WAY too Canadian of a response!
