.
1988. This is never before seen raw camera tapes footage of Eric Dressen street skating Venice, Los Angeles, California, from the filming of Eric's iconic Speed Freaks part for Santa Cruz Speed Wheels. We hang out in Eric's house with Block and Roskopp, Skate a bank with Scott Oster, Skate the beach curbs with Oster and John Thomas, run into the infamous aggro homeless dude and way more. Video camera just came out so filmer TR was filming everything and just letting it roll. Eric was a product of Dogtown Z-Boyz skate culture and was a childhood prodigy. By this point in time he was rated #1 in the world in street skating in 1987 and 1988 and his Speed Freaks part was was his first major video part.
This is the first in a series, subscribe and hit the notifications bell!

Thank you for this, I started skateboarding back in 86 and its good to see this window into the past, when skateboarding consumed my every waking hour.

This footage is fuckin sick!!! shot out to Dressen tho!!! “This is Venice!” Says my dad lol he grew up in Venice and he watched this footage and was taken aback. He grew up off Indiana Ave and 5th. Venice and Santa Monica have drastically changed so much it was almost hard to tell which direction Dressen was skating in but he was sick as fuck

this is real street skating. no smooth man made transitions you would find at a skatepark. just raw concrete tucked away in the city. great memories.

He's not wrong, he said some truths there, maybe skateboarding was to be Eric's life, but how many never made it? After all, football, basketball, hockey, are just games ;)

Scott & his pretty boy hair. Hated that dude. Lmao. Always thought he was a hosoi poser. From a guy who lived pipeline, nudist colony (kyuss), suicidal on wax. Lol. Could have been pro if i were in la instead of ie. Would have shredded "the la boys".

One of the best skaters of all time with perhaps the best style ever. Oster freaking rules.
@louloubydesign1926
@louloubydesign1926 11 ай бұрын
@@RealSurfStories Oster was rad and I have never seen his style replicated. I still have my original issue from DogTown of his. I personally think he had better style on a street ride than Hosoi and did place decently in contests back in his day. I got to meet him in Virginia Beach, VA at a demo they did at Lynnhaven Mall. I was just a kid but will never forget it. I did not know they were going to do a signing afterwards, and so I ran down to a Waldens bookstore and got the latest issue of Thrasher. I was so stoked cause I was flipping through it trying to find a picture that they could sign off on and only found one of Hosoi for Converse that really did not due him justice, but then at the VERY END of the issue was Oster tweeking a grind in a pool for an Independent Trucks ad and he was wearing the leopard print converse and totally outdid the Hosoi ad for the brand without even trying. His knee was bleeding and he was ripping it. I stood in line and they were passing out stickers and everyone was reaching for them but I didn't, I was kind of in awe and Oster kept handing me a few. I got up to get signed. Hosoi, Hackett and Ventura were there and I think Dressen too, and when I passed the Oster page out to get it signed they all showed it around like they had not seen it. I will never forget that day. I can still do a G-turn but not like Oster. He was a surf-skater of the best kind.
