REAL SKATE STORIES presents: DANNY WAY- RAW CAMERA TAPES from SPEED FREAKS SANTA CRUZ SPEED WHEELS

Child skateboarding prodigy Danny Way was 14 years old when this was filmed in 1988. He went on to become perhaps the greatest skater of all time and this was filmed at a time when he was cementing his legacy with never before done maneuvers with unimaginable height, speed and power.
Filmer Tony Roberts shot this over the course of a few days in San Diego, California, for his part in Santa Cruz Speed Wheels "Speed Freaks" and shows Danny's fearlessness and ability to not only make seemingly impossible tricks, but handle some hard slams.
Danny breaks down here he thinks the future of skateboarding will go, his favorite type of skating and does some technical coaching with friend Darin Jenkins explaining "there is no reason to bail". Cameos by Owen Neider, Jason Richardson, Don Fisher, Rob Roskopp, and more.

Those white OJII Team Riders are still my favourite wheels 33 year later. I spent the summer of 88 on my mini ramp every day and now I'm spending this summer doing the same thing as I built one in my barn for my kids and I a couple years ago. Just like 88 (and 98, 2008 and 2018) I still suck but it's fun as ever. I'm the same age as Danny and it was wicked back then seeing photos and videos of someone our age just killing it. 1990. The last bits with the ditch and the shopping center is from Risk It, the video after Speed Freaks(If you haven't seen Danny's part go watch it now for mind to be blown) and he was riding for Blind but before Video Days
