I use eBay primarily as well but also use my slabs and fanatics collect and Alt. The other sites are a lot harder to move stuff but I really want to sell as much as possible elsewhere since they have lower fees. We have to put pressure on eBay to lower there ridiculous 15-16% they end up taking. I believe Fanatics now offers a 6% fee on cards listed within 120% of their fair value price.

I clicked on this based on the Title of the video, immediately went full screen and thought I was watching a hostage video. Glad you're ok. LOL. Great video and advice. I don't do football but moving Ohtani, Betts, Judge, and Soto are always safe bets to maximize income but the way those teams are built, they will be contenders for years to come and may be cards to hold for a couple more seasons as their stock goes up in price. I had a lot of Pena RCs, hate the Astros, and wish I saw this advice when he won MVP and dumped his cards when his cards were hot. Got yourself a new follower.

group up some $2-3 cards to make $10-$20 lots to sell. Will work out much better for you when you consider your earnings per hour.
@searchingforsportscards7127
@searchingforsportscards7127 Ай бұрын
@@theboringchannel2027 might be worth considering. I don’t generally buy cards in lots, so I’ve tended to only list singles. As for the earnings per hour aspect, I do this in my down time, and wouldn’t generally be doing anything else during that time so I don’t really worry about the time too much. If I start to sell in volume, it must be considered though.

Just sold a card for $90 plus tax and shipping. I ended up pocketing $77.19. Small discount for top rated seller. LCS would have given me $50 at most.

Same with tax, shipping, fees & suggested promoted listing fee it's about 40% off by final. So if I want to break even including shipping I add 50% to my price paid for the card thanks to fees. So $50 card gotta be at $75 just to break even not counting time. But if you play it smart & patient you can do well which i need to get better about. Just turned a Gerrit Cole rookie bought week ago for $35 into $150... Baseball has been hot for BINs & Offers for me last couple weeks

Most TCG shops will scale it, 50% for modern, and generally 60-80% on rarer stuff that will sell super fast. The more liquid the card is to their customers the more you should try and haggle for. The way i'd look at it is, will this card sit in their case less than 2 weeks, will it sit for a month, will it sit for 3 months. That's a great way to tell value+demand. If your card store is just 50% on everything that's a bad shop, and their glass is most likely pretty stagnant. Also find out their value metric, one store I went to would try to buy at USD prices in Cad, and then sell the cards for the Cad prices. To that 50% buy is much less than actual value, I never sold a card to that store.

My LCS is a great shop, but those are the averages. Of course a hot card is more negotiable, but those are general guidelines. Point being, eBay is pretty much on par with the averages.

Ebay is the only way to go. I do both auctions and BINs without offers. If someone is really interested in the card, they will send you an offer anyway. Auctions typically get less, but there are outliers that will shock you on the upside. BINs take longer to sell, its a trade off. I have found through about 8000 sales that it's about a tie overall between the two. Some cards are better for auctions, some are not, usually depends on the Player. Brand name players do well at auction because of the name recognition, more bidders.

@@denny_cards they’ll usually take the last three comps and average it out. In theory let’s say the last three sales were $35, $29 and $40. That averages out to $34.66. They would likely offer $17.50 and it would either go to their eBay store or the display case for $35-$40.

@@searchingforsportscards7127 The problem is blue painter's tape can dry out and be difficult to remove and leave behind a sticky residue on the top loader, had that happen recently and it was a pain. FROG TAPE DELICATE SURFACES(Yellow) this is best tape I found at Lowes, I use it for comics mainly(it's terrible for painting though). Other option is Scotch Painters Delicate Surface(Purple) this tape is decent, little harder to remove than the yellow tape.

In my experience if it's legit painters tape & not a more sticky blue tape then never an issue & have seen raw paper cards left unscathed. Personally outside of ESE I like to use a rubber band around my cardboard slats but do have painter tape if needed. it's the clear tape that still blows my mind & true test of whether someone is going to get continued business or not. Painters tape used to hold cardboard slats together or put over top of a semi-rigid is issue #99 out of 100 issues so would have to respectfully disagree with OP & agree with the video host. Much Love, Stay Safe, & Collect Cardboard!
