Wow! This morning I was listening to a sermon and the pastor in it was talking about the book of revelations but he also talked about how we need to start going on our knees to pray. I've just watched your video now (it's the afternoon) and you also talked about how we should start going on our knees to pray! I guess God is really using people to reiterate the importance of praying on our knees! Thank you for this video Becca 😊

Super inspiring as always, Becca. Honestly, this came at the right time. It's so easy to get caught up in "my life's mission" and thinking that I'm solely responsible for achieving my goals and making myself become who I want to be, when the reality is that God places the influences in our life. Obviously not all influences are of God, but that's where we have to rely on Him and use discernment. I've been consuming a lot of content lately that sort of subliminally has that "you can be self-made" message to it, and I've realized that it's been affecting me somewhat negatively because I begin to place my trust on my own strength instead of relying on the strength of Christ. Thanks for making this video. Also, I wanted to say that I'm sure you'll make a great teacher! I had awesome Christian teachers when I was in public school (before being homeschooled) and they were a huge influence in my life when I was younger. We need more people like you around our children. :)

I also want to be a teacher and the specific teacher who inspired me unfortunately passed away two years ago but the world has tried to tell me I’m living an unfulfilling life cuz I don’t have some specific thing but my family and friends love me and I feel like I’m who I want to be and who god wants me to be

Thank you so much for this video! It was so encouraging to hear because my testimony is very similar. I was raised in a Christian home, but I was terrible to my parents as a child. It wasn’t until the Lord opened my eyes to Him and saved me that my whole attitude changed. The Lord gradually helped me to be less selfish and more compassionate to others. When you said that it was the Lord that made you compassionate, it reminded me about my past and how it truly was the Lord that changed me. Sometimes Satan tries to convince me that it was all me that made me who I am today, but it was all God. Thank you so much for making this video! It felt like I was having a casual conversation with a friend 😊 (P.S. I’m also folding laundry while watching this video 😂)

It was awesome to hear you speak of the impact those teachers had on you and how they, others and God shaped you to be who you are. God is so good. I wasn't expecting that last bit but its no coincidence. I got to help out for a children's outreach over spring break and it was amazing. Before we left we all circled up to pray standing. I heard God's voice clearly and He said pray on your knees. My heart started to beat like crazy and i heard Him again say get on your knees. Well im still new to this hearing God speak and its awesome but i didn't kneel, just prayed. But i knew ever since that i should be kneeling. Glad you mentioned this, He obviously thought it was important enough to tell me. Its not the same for everyone but if He tells you to do something do it! Thank you Lord for blessing us. Amen

All that you've said goes perfectly with this verse: For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? 1 Corinthians 4:7 What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it. I am a teacher and lately i was so confused and upset due to some coworkers who do not focus on the children but themselves and i clinged to this verse that me as an educater all i have if i own any skills that makes me a good teacher comes from God. And we all should throw away our pride and put Him first and as we teach put out children first not our own selfish portrait that we'd like to make up. We have to try harder to act like Jesus to love as radically as he did to show out kids or just direct them where the light is. That's what i am praying for as a teacher every single day.

The simple fact that God created us should humble us. God showed His unselfishness by making us. God has everything and did not need us nor need to share what He has with someone else. If you asked any rich person if they would share their wealth with the whole world, they wouldn't be able to do it. God has everything yet He is so humble. It is so crazy that God would die for another person when He didn't have to. God is the richest person in existence and yet He is in love with sinners completely unworthy of His love. God's love is so crazy it does not make sense.

Great video! I wound up watching it while folding my own laundry, so that worked out well. Pro tip (maybe): if you pray in the prone position (a.k.a. on your face), that may be even more reverent than praying on your knees... and I don't think it will wreck your knees over time, either. So that's a win-win situation! (though you may decide to clean your floor a bit more often because of it)

Great video! I have a question about diet but before I ask, I’m gonna give a little back story. I was raised catholic but became an atheist at 13. I’m 21 now and have been pondering at the idea of becoming a Christian. I’ve been doing some research and in the Old Testament, in Genesis, it would seem like the ideal diet for humans would’ve been a fruitarian/vegan type diet. It was after the sins of Adam and Eve that humans started eating meat but in the Garden, they ate fruits. What do you make of this? I understand that later in the Old Testament, we are advised that we can eat certain animals, but if it’s possible for us to not do that, then wouldn’t it be better if we don’t eat animals? I’m not a vegan or anything and I’m not trying to promote anything but I’m just saying, in my research, this is what I’ve found. Sorry if this seems a little random, just wanted to gather your thoughts. Asking other Christians this too.

First off, if you want to find that past teacher/teacher aide surly talking to the school she worked at they would be able to track her down through their own records. At the very least im sure they could put you in contact with the teacher she worked under and she could probably point you in a helpful direction. And also, to be clear when Dawkins talks about the "selfish gene" he does not mean that we are inherently selfish. He simply is talking about the ability of a gene to survive as a trait if its helpful. He has since said that he sort of wished he chose his words more carefully because people were getting confused on that point. It was simply some personification he used to help clarify a point about the survival of favorable traits, not that that specific gene had any actual will or intent, or that people posses some gene that makes them all inherently selfish.
@FarAwayDistance6 жыл бұрын
Andrew Thanks for clarifying that! I always thought it was about natural selection.
@__Andrew6 жыл бұрын
It is about evolution/natural selection. A gene is "selfish" when it is able to be passed down and survives. Again its just a personifying characteristic used to describe it. Genes have to be this way, because what good is a gene if you die before reproduction has a chance to pass it along to the next generation. So in this way nature weeded those weaker genes out (since the host would die before reproduction) and the "selfish" ones were the ones that lived on. As i said above Dawkins has in the last couple of decades said he wished he took the advice of an editor of his and named it "the immortal gene" since that actually fits as a better description with less confusion. But over all the way you used it in the video was not correct. Especially since as humans we have actually a quite good evolutionary trait of empathy housed in the supramarginal gyrus of the cerebral cortex of the brain. One of the great evolutionary traits of humans that has allowed us to live and thrive is our ability to work in ever increasing and complex social structures, and empathy is a key component there.

You probably didn't mean this, but what you tell here also implies that there is no free will. Because if everything comes from other peoples influences, Gods influence or just DNA/biology and coincidence, than there is no such thing as free will. And if there is no such thing as free will, people can't really be hold responsible for anything. Because if were not self-made in any possitive things as you were talking about, we aren't self-made in the negative as well. The thought we are self-made doesn't have to be egoïstic (it can be, though), but if you go a little more in dept, the thought we aren't will probably be pretty depressing. I don't totally agree with you on this, and I even think that the idea that there is no free will goes against the Bible (because if we can't really choose, the dying of Jesus doesn't make sense). Of course all these things have an immense influence on us, but I still believe humans have some sort of free will. Maybe you should make some follow-up video for this and go a little more in dept/be a bit more analytic.
@FarAwayDistance6 жыл бұрын
Cecily Haag I 100% believe in free will. Sorry that came across as differently in the video! We have the ability to make choices on a day to day basis. But God is also sovereign and in ultimate control. I can send you a podcast about this that I love by Timothy Keller! I'll find the link right now.

I don't think your God is real, I think it is more of feeling or emotion expressed by your brain
@dagman856 жыл бұрын
HAMBOOT - I know you don't have any reason to trust me since you don't know me, but God is absolutely 100% real. I've seen Him miraculously and instantaneously heal people, deliver people from demons (yes, demons are real, too), cause gold dust to appear on people (sometimes in sprinkles, sometimes in a pile), send His power shooting through people like electricity, I've had someone give me a prophetic word that seemed implausible but yet has come true, I've seen Him give people words of knowledge so that they know things about people that they otherwise couldn't know, and He has given me dreams that connect with things happening in other people's lives on the night that I dream them. He also speaks to me through dreams and mental pictures, and I know someone who hears His voice regularly. I also physically feel His presence every day, usually many times each day. I could go on, but He is so, so very real, and He wants to connect with you personally at a deeper level than you can possibly imagine. If you'd like to test this for yourself, just say in the privacy of your own room (and with total sincerity), "Jesus, if You are real, would You please make Yourself known to me? I want to get to know You better." You may see immediate results that very second, or it may be as you pray that and wait on Him over the course of an hour or two, that you will see a result. But He can make Himself very, very evident to people He chooses to reveal Himself to, and He wants to connect with you more than you can possibly imagine. Also pay attention to the circumstances and things you see around you after that. Look for patterns in the things you see and hear. He communicates in many different ways, and He can use nature, other people, and all sorts of "coincidences" to communicate with you when you start seeking Him. Pay attention to things you see or hear three or more times in a very short period, because He is probably making that happen. Also, He can have a crazy sense of humor, too, and sometimes He will communicate through puns that are real groaners, so beware! Anyway, have a great rest of your weekend, and I would love to hear about your experience if you ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
