HOW TO PROCESS GIC or GUARANTEED INVESTMENT CERTIFICATE UNDER CIBC.
FOR SDS APPLICANTS AND REGULAR STREAM APPLICANTS:
The Student GIC Program includes a student bank account and a GIC investment which will be paid into your student bank account over 12 months once you arrive in Canada.
In collaboration with Canadian Government, the Student GIC Program helps you apply for a Study Permit by meeting the Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada guidelines for funds needed for your living expenses while studying in Canada.
If you have been accepted at one of our partner colleges, you can send minimum $10,000 CAD up to $20,000 CAD in any currency offered by us to enroll in the Student GIC Program and will be given a proof of investment to help you apply for a Study Permit. A CIBC Smart™ Account for Students will be opened for you and the GIC payments will be released into this account.
When you arrive in Canada:
• $8,000 CAD will be placed into GICs with eight equal payments disbursed over a oneyear period
• Annual interest rate will be 0.5% for each of the GICs
• The remaining amount, minimum $2,000 CAD up to $12,000 CAD, will be deposited into your deposit account
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
Your passport
Your letter of admission
The name of the campus you will be attending
Step-by-step process:
1. Go to pay.cibc.com/I...
2. Select Student GIC Program
3. Under Payment Details input your desired amount (Minimum of 10,000CAD - Maximum of 20,000 CAD).
4. Select Payment Country- Philippines
5. Payment Options you may either select USD or CAD (In my case, I use USD after I compute both currencies)
6. Then click the Student Information (you will be redirected to the next page)
7. Provide all your personal information. (Double check all the details especially passport number as this will be required to provide to activate your account once landed in Canada.)
8. Under Referral Details: I highly suggest to tick Yes in the Referral program because you will receive 25$ too once you filled out email address referrer (Please input my email address as referrer: [e-mail]
9. Then click Payment Information
10. Redirected to Payment Summary to confirm details
11. Then click the “Submit” button.
Important Notes:
CIBC will process your request for 24 hours then you will receive Payment Instruction through your email address that you provided in your personal details.
Print Payment instruction then proceed to your bank to process telegraphic transfer. Provide your printed Payment Instruction to the bank personnel for reference. Most of the banks have cut off in processing telegraphic transfers, in my case my bank has 2pm cut-off otherwise the transaction will be process the next day.
Remind the bank that the charge should be “OUR” and not “SHARED” because the charges will be deducted to your amount transferred which might result of not reaching the minimum amount. If that will be the case, the transaction might returned and the charges that was deducted will not be included in returning to your account.
Double check the computation, make sure you are more than enough to your desired GIC amount because the foreign exchange might change. In my case, I was short by $35.. huhu.

Generally, pwde po mag pasa ng English as medium of communication na makukuha sa registrar ph school natin. But sometimes po nag dedepende dn sa program, best po is mag email sa BVC for confirmation.. Sa program po namin, hindi required ng language test. 😀

Yes po malaki po ang chance nyo po since meron n kayo related study sa IT, payo ni husband you can use that to take an IT related programs dito sa CA. BS IT si husband sa Pinas and sa SOP namin sinabi lng namin ang mga benefits sa career nya ng selected program na Software Dev. You can start by selecting a school, program to study and decide kung 1yr or 2yrs program. Pinaka safe is 2yrs kaxe meron ka 3yrs PGWP, just make sure po your selected school is eligible for PGWP after study.
