Same. I started using colored pencil when I watched her crayon pencil video and I love it. I used colored pencil all the time now. I couldn't afford to buy polychromos or prismacolor yet, I'm using fabercastell classic for now. It's still good enough for practice. And the video like this one really helps a lot too, for my muse and for practicing :)))))) Also, this camera angle is the best because I can see the whole process clearly :))

Honestly I really love how you use colored pencils in your art because it’s a lot less blending and just more simple.
@Kyomiibrown4 жыл бұрын
Pinks tend to be more fugitive, especially bright pinks, which is probably why Faber Castell focus more on lightfast pigments over bright colour. Dye based colours are always more bright but are fujitive. You can always add in your prisma pinks if you wanted to.

I wonder if you'd enjoy adding *gamsol or odourless mineral spirits, it dissolves the oil of the pencil and lets the colours flow. can brighten the colours and make painterly effects. *thank you for the correction, Alisa 👍
@alisawalsh25034 жыл бұрын
The issue with using baby oil is that it messes with the lightfastness of the pencils, that's why colored pencil artists use either Gamsol or Odorless mineral spirits. Both of these options are pretty cheap too.

Its worthwhile investing in a few caran dache luminance pencils to use alongside the polychromos, they work really well together. I use the luminance over the polychromos to flatten the texture. But that might not be your desired effect because i do hyper realism.

I did it for 10 yrs and now I can make mine look like they are painted..no pencil marks at all.You can rub the surface coat off..I have changed skin colour and hair colour that way ..Surprising what you can do with pencils they are like magic sticks ..Most important thing is to keep the pencils sharp ..I love this drawing she’s beautiful 🥰

Chris, I’m always so amazed at how meticulous you are in your art - you have a style that is so uniquely yours you’d be able to spot it anywhere. I have a couple thoughts about polychromos pencils (because they’re my absolute fav!): - They do actually erase reasonably well, so you can tone back or redo things you’re not crazy about. (They are of course, pencil crayons, so I don’t think that you’d get the page perfectly clean, but some erasing works). - my all-time favorite neutral colour is caput mortem. It’s the prefect colour for outlining a sketch. I probably use it way too much because i find purposes for it in everything. Lol - earth green is a wonderful colour to shade with - totally worth a try! ❤️

it really depends on what colours you tend to gravitate towards.. I would compare the available colours between the two sets and see if the 60 has enough of what you think you'll use :O for me personally though, I didn't even consider the smaller sets since I'm of the opinion that with colour pencils, the more the merrier! since it's not like watercolours or other tube paints where you can mix most colours together. It's just a lot more convenient to have a variety of colours available, without having to mix them :) so if you can afford it, I'd suggest the 120!
