"Let's just bring this to a finish"...checks...18 mins left to the video. I also really like this piece. Reminds me of a mermaid with hair swirling around. Also I wonder if it's just a matter of letting the watercolor be bold and colorful and imprecise and magical and letting the colored pencil be controlled. You can always salvage the drawing in the colored pencil. So what would it be like to give in fully to the impressionism of the watercolor?

Yes, very!! Your process is really interesting to watch. I’ve picked out techniques from watching you work. And the way you push through with illustrations that you don’t find going your way is quite nice too. (Especially bc I get moments like those a lot too aaaaa. Inspires me to push through whenever I get discouraged in the process.) And so, it is very satisfying when you say you end up liking the piece in the end. I look forward to seeing more of your artworks and videos. 🥰

I love how you're comforting yourself during the process :D I do this to myself all the time, usually already after my first sketch, I go directly to: "this is not what I've expected, but hey, hey, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad! It's.... it's just different, it's...intereting" :D except that my best art isn't even halfway that good as this! Love it!

Considering how uncertain you feel about this piece, would it be worth playing about with Arleesha Yetzer's skillshare class on rainbow skin? I think your art looks gorgeous, as do many people in the comments here, but taking a step back and learning more about colours and abstract shapes might make you feel more confident in what you're doing? It's just such a shame to hear you refer to almost every watercolour piece you do as "needing salvaging" ❤️

I've watched your videos and I love how u use colors that aren't necessarily skin tones but still you get a skin tone when you complete it. how do you do that? what makes you determine the colors you'll use? can you explain your color theory? Do you know why on some pencils it says "Made in Germany" and on others "Germany" and on those it is "SV" mark? I looked on the official site picture of Polychromos they all have "SV" marks and "GERMANY". Or it is new series mixed with old one? I just got my first set of them and found this difference.

How come the paper does not make huge waves?? What do i do wrong? I tried to paint just on dry paper, tried to pre-wet it, tried to damp it and press it with a book until its dried, but it always shrinks in waves as i start painting. Whats the secret? 😂 I absolutely LOVE this painting!!!
@Miss207
@Miss207 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not just the thickness of the paper. You need paper that has low level of alcohol in it. The less alcohol the less waves ❤️ and if you don’t have put a cloth over the paper and iron it. That flattens the paper nicely and smoothly. Get medium quality paper. It makes all the difference.
