These two devices allow you to roughly capture any monophonic audio signal and convert it into MIDI data that can then be used in Ableton Live. Use the Capture device to convert the audio into MIDI Notes, and then use the Receive device to generate notes. either to trigger and instrument, or control Ableton Live Effect that has a MIDI From option.

I always though the Tuner effect could be upgraded by just allowing it to send the notes it detects as a midi signal to another track. Stick an auotune plugin before it and you'd be able to play midi instruments with your voice

Hey Tom, I think that the "miss-tune" feeling you get with low value on the first knob, and the other "miss-note" on the high value, is caused by the glissando of the incoming audio. When it comes to vocals its natural to articulate some notes through glissando even unhearable. On the other hand the trumpet has got a vibratto so You can get random results. Interesting thing also is, that You get thoose octave higher results, I wonder if it got something to do with the fact that theres the same note just octave higher if You know what I meen. So great device!

Is there anything that exists that will also interpret the timbre or other qualities of live audio into cc, in whatever way, or even an all-in-one synth product for such things? Something that would allow you to run any audio into it and produce a synth with expression

I've been looking for something like this. I want a midi out signal from instruments that only have an audio output. This is the answer. I'm going to use it to trigger drum rhythms and also to replace instrument sounds with alternative instruments.

Hi Tom, thank a lot for this device. I tried to use it for controlling a synth with my voice. The device send a note on message but any note off information is delivered. That’s mean the synth is not able to stop the notes. Any solution for this specific situation?

hello tom. i tried the plugin you made. my problem is reatune as far as i know, it supports notes up to 50 1000 hz. When I try to play 900 and above notes, the octave of the notes drops. is there a solution to the problem?

Usually just arm and record the midi track.

You need to have either a device after it (an instrument for example), or you need to use an Effect that has a MIDI from, such as the Spectral Resonator, or the Corpus.

This one is AAAALLLMOST perfect - but has anyone found a solution to why it won't play the same note more than once? Meaning, if I hit a note, it plays it once, bt if I hit the same note again > silence. I have to play another note in between. Please, please, PLEASE, can someone help? I'd love to love this one all the way! :)

Tom: There seems to be an issue with that plugin in Ableton 11. Basically the receiver plays some note continuously until turned off and then when it's turned back on, it doesn't respond anymore. Thanks in advance for an update!

I tried to get it working in 11.1.6 but I immediately get hung midi notes. It's like it's not receiving note off messages at all regardless of the capture rate, mean group size etc. Is this a known issue?

That's not A minor you presented there. That's A dorian, which is a relative of the minor scale but with the difference being a raised 6th degree - I presumed when you said A minor you actually wanted an A natural minor scale? This live device is absolutely phenomenal though and I love the work that you do! Love from Sweden
