I've been using silk since it came out and a little bit goes a long way is what I have found with that plug in. I like it a lot. Robbie Miller did a video on it using it on instruments which was interesting. So you can use it on other things as well.

Waves will be happy with you because I'll probably buy these along with others here. I don't have either and didn't know they even made equator. I don't keep up with things like I used to. I agree with your taste, the breath, over the top. That stuff is interesting at first but wears the listener down rather fast. Also, the heavy breaths distract from the whole. You wind up hearing all that heavy breathing and something else begins to come to mind. 🙄 Just an opinion. Don't get mad, lol.
@Producelikeapro14 сағат бұрын
Indeed, the breath thing is really a matter of taste and a song by song basis!

@Producelikeapro14 сағат бұрын
Indeed! No, a couple of people have pointed out that the preset EQ points are set for male rather than female. I moved the eq around but preferred where it was, you are of course free to use the preset point if your ear prefers it.

If you consider the amount of fantastic-sounding vocals that have been recorded in years/decades past when none of these plug-ins existed, surely we must reach a point where we have to say: 'if I just record the vocal right in the first place, then compression and EQ - even those plug-ins that are 20 years old - must surely be capable of achieving the desired result. Any great-sounding recording can only be that: good source material, good eq and compression. I'm pretty certain EVERYONE has the plug-ins already in their DAW to achieve fantastic results.
@ProducelikeaproКүн бұрын
This vocal (you download it) was a U47, BAE 1028, 160VU-1176, which is pretty typical of anything late '60s early '70s on, although it would have hit tape, then come back on a console for mixing with additional transformers, EQ, De-essing and compression which would be any mix from early/mid '70s on.
@ProducelikeaproКүн бұрын
Here we only needed the one plug in to simplify the mixing process. Agreed, there are MULTIPLE ways to mix! No one way is better than another, all that matters is the results! I like to show case ALL the methods and preach one over the other as being better.
@Frazer77710 сағат бұрын
@@Producelikeapro Agreed, it certainly simplifies the process - my point is, generally speaking, on any DAW there are enough EQs, compressors, saturators, tape simulators etc, that achieve the same result - borne out by the number of great recordings/mixes made twenty years ago with what today might be considered 'out of date' plug ins. I'm all for ease of use and 'go-to' fave settings but it's surely better to learn and understand the wealth of plug-ins already available.

@matt_nyc_audioengineer2 күн бұрын
It's a great tool! I really like what it did to the vocals. Warren! You were using the plugin on the Male setting lol. Also, the control between the dynamic section and output is a gain compensation tool! So if you use that to adjust the dynamics it will adjust the output at the same time. 🙂
