Mine is a2140. See 11:20. I don’t know if it is the latest but as far as I know, there’s not a new model number.

Thanks for this! I got mine from amazon and literally everything was the same as the apple charger. The only thing that made me suspicious was how weak the magnets were. Can you tell me if the real one gets hot with charging for some time? I had an anker one which would briefly stop charging due to the heat.

Hmmm. I tested mine just now. I usually have in that stand I demonstrated, so I never touch the magnet. I went from 69% to 77% in less than 10 minutes and the puck was warm. You might even call it very warm. But I wouldn't go as far as calling it hot. Does yours show the Apple SN in Settings... General... About...?

@@TomQsTechTips Ahh I see, glad it doesn't get as hot. I checked mine and they didn't show themselves in the settings. I asked for a return, so hopefully will get the refund.

I don’t think that there is anything inherently dangerous about a 3rd party charger. Billions of non-Apple Lightning charging cables have been sold over the years and I would venture to say that most of them have been harmless and have actually done the job for a fair price. What is going on here is that manufacturers/sellers are cheating Apple AND consumers by pretending to be something better than what they are, thus inflating the price. If mine had had decent magnetic grip and charged at 30w I might have kept it. Having said all of that, some poorly made electrical products are risky. So keep an eye on it. Make sure that it doesn’t get dangerously hot.

There’s not necessarily anything wrong with a third-party charger. There are tons of them legitimately on the market and some of them work well. It’s just frustrating when you pay more for what you think is an apple product and you get something inferior.

Mine was charging fast enough box the same with the original and magnet is strong, also the documentations but in the setting it doesnt reflect. My phone runs ios 15.7.1 did i got a fake one? Thanks

Just a small update: it worked pretty fine once I connected it on my MacBook. That start showing it’s informations on settings.

BOTH the real and the fake had the pull tab, so that can't be an indicator. I've had comments that said their packaging was even more convincing than my fake one. The 2 biggest things for me was the magnetic hold (or lack thereof) of the fake one and the slowness of the charging, If the fake factory had gotten those things right, I probably wouldn't have cared.. I think I paid about $38 for the real one at Best Buy. Apple suggested price is $39.

@@TomQsTechTipsIt would be easy to spot the fake if I had the charger itself in my hands, but the problem is I am trying to order it online. Is it possible that the original charger could be only 20$? I don’t believe in that, although looking at the box it looks legit.
