there's no such thing as "fake" after market is after market. Just because Honda doesn't sell them doesn't make them "fake" If I buy ketchup but it isn't made by heinz that doesn't mean I'm eating "fake" ketchup. just isn't name brand. This is all aftermarket stuff anyways so I don't know what the big deal is.

There definitely are "fakes" out there. The reason why they are fake or "knock-offs" is because they are labelled as genuine Honda parts by the sellers, and the consumer is deceived. In your analogy, it would be like you buying Heinz ketchup but in reality it was filled with a lower quality ketchup.

I did a search for the number on the fake emblem and it turns out its the number for the Key Fob, Haha! I came here because I noticed a lot of fake "original" honda radiator fan switches on eBay. The dead giveaway was the price and they have fake Honda stickers, but these guys actually got the part number right for the fan switch. So frustrating dealing with fakes.

Since the RSX has a front plastic bracket/base designed to fit the "A" acura emblem the "H" emblem from the Honda Integra DC5 in japan uses a different shaped bracket which must also be changed when you replace the emblem. It's attached to the front emblem and as a result the price it slightly more.

That's fine, it's your decision. The premium genuine emblems are not for everyone. Some people are fine getting lower quality parts, and we have nothing against that. Again, we just don't want consumers deceived into thinking they are getting the real deal when they're not. The vendors who show their fake emblems with genuine Honda parts labels are really the issue here.

'Phony baloney' or not, the packaging for the counterfeit emblems is actually superior. Foam pads to protect the tabs which could be broken if easily dislodged from simple corrugated cardboard? That's a better approach. Look at the gouge in the cardboard when the emblem is taken off of it. Bubble wrap pouches as opposed to a waxed paper sleeve? I'd call that another wise choice. The 'reflection' argument is a tough sell, because the difference is slight at best.The OEM emblem doesn't render a perfect reflection either. These are plastic parts, not nano-smooth mirrors for an observatory telescope. ; ] I can't see this well enough, even at full-screen resolution, but I'll take your word on what would dissatisfy me in terms of quality, such as the peeling of the chromed plastic, the speckles in the red resin, and the hairline crack running the perimeter. I'm all about being genuine, but I can understand how some people would find knockoffs appealing -- it's all about price. As with many things it's all a matter of perceived value, but realistically, a genuine Honda emblem like this is rather pricey for what it is. However, if you ARE a detail nut, the speckles, flaking, and fairly rapid UV deterioration would piss you off enough to regret not splurging on OEM goods. Still, I'm impressed with the bootleggers' overall attempts -- with the exception of the product codes. Honestly, how do we know that Honda doesn't secretly support a culture of counterfeiting, taking a hefty percentage of profits for itself? ; ] Just because I thought the look of chrome-trimmed red would be cool I bought a pair of old JDM emblems that came off of an '87 CRX. I'm about to put them on my black '95 Civic LX. 28 years old and they're in fantastic shape. Frankly, while it didn't 'break the bank', I paid more than I should have at $35 for the pair -- or did I, for a pretty rare find, even if they're a mere couple of ounces of plastic? Peace!

theoriginalbillholt The wrapping / packaging is better on the phoney ones, but keep in mind when we ship these out we wrap them more than just with the Honda packaging. Don't worry about the packaging when we ship them. The reflection is noticeable in real life, but there are usually other (more noticeable) defects that cause them to look fake. Keep in mind even the best "bootleggers" we've seen have inconsistent quality. One order may be good, the other bad. We've ordered quite a few fake ones to test everything out.

The OEM emblems I mentioned are now on my car, and I've 'repurposed' the originals. The 'new' red ones have some minor and practically imperceptible weather degradation to the chromed trim which I believe could be brought back to luster with a little TLC. It's minor enough that it escaped my initial attention. The point here is that these ARE OEM, taken from a Civic that was made in Japan, and it's because of the famous Honda dedication to producing superior goods that they look this amazingly crisp and clear nearly 30 years after the car they were applied to rolled off of the assembly line. Abel Ruiz Yes, $126 for the front and rear set. Hate to say it but you got the fakes. $55 is below Honda dealer cost straight from Japan. The fake packaging is very good and so it looks authentic, but it is not. In general, there is a 99% chance if you bought the emblems off eBay you got fakes.

Sean Oquendo Honda only used red as a color in making logo badges that weren't the standard silver silhouette 'H'. Red is a traditional color for them. Think of Coca-Cola's trademark red. That's why there are so many counterfeits, and it's the reason for this video. Aftermarket resources like Amazon and eBay are exactly where you'll have to look for a color-matched non-OEM emblem, but for what it's worth I've seen some in blue, yellow, and green that did look pretty good for initial visual impact. I even saw a lighted blue trunk emblem. Longevity and close-up detail might be issues, but who knows. Red is the only 'real deal', but if you aren't of a 'Genuine Honda only' mindset you should be able to find something that does the trick for you. If you want to look legit to an unknowing audience for a few bucks as compared to what you'll pay through virtually any seller of OEM Honda accessories to truly be legit, there are lots of vendors that will leave some jingle in your pocket.

No, the steering wheel emblems are all fake. We get this question quite a bit. The real Honda steering wheel emblems can only be bought with the airbag assembly, which is very expensive. For this reason, we do not sell the steering wheel emblems.

The badge is for one purpose and its to make the car look different, as long it doesn't start peeling than there's nothing wrong with it. I had a BMW badge that was a cheap Chinese knock off. It was only $10 instead of $40. It looked just like the real BMW badge, minus the contours of the letters and ceramic feel of them.

The install is not very difficult at all. Once the old emblems are removed and the surface is cleaned the new emblems are a "Peel and Stick" type application. There are a few differences in the way they apply depending on which civic model you have but they are all pretty simple to install. The included adhesive is very strong on the genuine emblems and we have not had any emblems fall off even after many car washes and other daily stress.

Good eye for seeing that! There is no "one" appropriate style...it is a matter of taste and opinion. If you want your S2000 to look more "old school", buy the old ones. Otherwise, use the new ones, which Honda used on newer Type R vehicles (after about the year 2002).

I ordered from pro civic and the emblem for my 2009 honda civic coupe fit perfectly! Recently I ordered from Amazon and the emblem did not curve so water would go inside and would start to peel off.

Yes, the video does not show the full quality difference. Once you inspect the fake emblems closely with your own eyes, you will see how carelessly they are put together. The genuine emblems have none of those defects and definitely are what you want if you have a nice looking Civic that you're proud of.

+KIV FIR The steering wheel emblems are always 100% fake, unless the entire steering wheel is replaced. We also do not recommend putting a regular emblem on there. If the air bag ever goes off, the emblem will hit the driver in the face
