Product Information:
Counterfeiting is definitely not an instance where imitation is the highest form of flattery. Protecting trademarks is not just about protecting business interests; it's about protecting consumers and the health and safety of the people who make clothing around the world.
The iconic and trademarked Levis red tab (including the red color) and the familiar arcuate or batwing stitching that grace just about every pair of Levi's jeans have come to stand for more than just well-made product. Now, Levi's is often faced with counterfeiters who want to make money by taking advantage of the goodwill, reputation and quality associated the Levi's brand.
There are so many variations and deceptive production tactics used by counterfeiters to specifically deceive you, the best advice is to buy authentic, quality Levi's from authorized retailers.
Counterfeit products are often listed on eBay and sold to unsuspecting buyers as "genuine" or "100% authentic" items at prices close to retail.
Find the red Levi's tab on the back right pocket of your jeans. This red tab is present on almost all pairs of Levi’s and has become a well-recognized icon all around the world. It is a good starting point for identifying Levi’s Jeans as authentic or fake.
All genuine pairs have the tab, however, on a few styles of jeans, the tab may be a different color, like green, or yellow, or white.
Image titled Spot Fake Levi's Step 2
2
Ensure that the stitching around the tab is clean and consistent. If it is messy, or looks tampered with, these may be a fake pair. A lot of fake manufacturers un-stitch the denim of regular jeans and sew the tab in to make them look like genuine Levi’s
Look out for ‘The Big E’ on the tab. A capital E in Levi’s is only present in pre-1971 pairs of jeans. If a pair is claimed to be from after 1971 and has the ‘Big E’, that indicates that it is a fake pair.[1]
1 in every 100 pairs will only have a ‘registered mark’ instead of Levi’s sign. This is because they have to change the ribbon on the machine and run through a label without Levi’s stitching on it
Feel the patch’s texture and softness. The material of an authentic patch will have a little bit of texture and feel soft and worn. The material shouldn’t feel too smooth, or too hard. A lot of fake manufacturers use cheap leather or a substitute. If the patch feels like it is covered, or has a plastic feel to it, this may indicate that your jeans are counterfeit.
Check the overall build quality of the jeans. Levi’s has a very high standard for quality control. If there are any faults in the stitching, or on any of the metal work, chances are they are fake, or they may need to be returned to Levi’s for inspection.

Hahaha you may wanna hold onto those if they're sentimental or whatever. I came across this trucker coat in my grandparents attic that has an orange tab on it. To start the denim is raw denim. Plus the fur lining in it seems way more abundant and thicker than the ones these days and even crushes the so called premium ones and make them look like a joke. It's just a sturdier, chunkier, made product. Built in the USA. Asked grandpa about it, and he had no idea where it came from lol. But he thinks that one of my parents' friends left it and never came back for it, so it just sat and sat.

The last pair of Levis I bought lasted 18 months with light use before they disintegrated. I bought them in a Levis store, and they appear to be authentic. I had Levis when I was a kid, and they could easily stand up to skateboarding, climbing trees, and football. The quality of the fakes might be better than the authentic ones these days.

Do you remember the days when you lit bonfires and the guys expected you to stomp them out when you were wearing Levi's. So i was buying levis all my live, and mostly from local levis store, but recently bought a pair of fake levis 511 not realizing they were fake, bought it off ebay from a seller , after watching your video realized they were fake, others a genuine got like 12 pairs of levis 501/505/514 jeans with more than half being 501s. btw the older pairs from early 2000s had no such labels current ones got. But rivets and buttons are all stamped at the back with print saying levis.... I have pair from when I was a kid in 90s and they have no labels of any sorts, other than one giving you size and washing instructions, but they're genuine Levis.

I take it the zipper thing had more to do with the Levi brand not the 501 style of pants for obvious reasons. I used to buy nothing but 501s they used to be a little more expensive than other jeans but still reasonable priced around $20 dollars on sale at the time, but then they somehow became trendy with the yuppies and the prices skyrocketing $ 70 or more now ridiculous.

In the early days ALL 501s in the UK had zippers, but they were called 502. It was only after flares went out of fashion in the 80s that we first saw button flies and 501s. In the past, every letter and number meant something, for example 5=male fit, 6=unisex and 9=female. Today it is purely fashion.

Used to buy Levis in the sixties when they were different from the rest, being three ply material (that was their boast on the labels). In those days they came littered with labels when new and took ages to get them off; they were stapled. They cant have cost much then because I could afford them with paper round money and they lasted forever. Bit different to now with UK price of £70 plus at Levi store and not even US made anymore.

@@VoiceOfPeopleToday 501's made for the UK market had a zip until the 1970's. The style number was 502. To us, they were the standard Levi's jeans. It was only when they came back into fashion after the flares that we first saw the button fly.

Is Levi producing nowadays jeans again with capital letters?? Because I went to the Levi website and saw multiple models wearing 511 jeans that have the big E on the red label.

@@SufiRepublic I only find articles that say that the production with the big E stopped in 1971, which makes them basically vintage jeans and that they go for a high price. What I'm getting at is, that I see brand new jeans which go for $99 on the original Levi website and they have a big E. I highly doubt that they wear vintage jeans just for the shooting.

Hi, the only thing I can spot is the label about the washing, country, etc doesn't have Levi's logo on it. Does this mean it's fake? Or maybe they don't always print the logo on this label?

Ridiculous! “Originals” are absolutely affordable, especially on sales, at their sites, Amazon, Levi stores worldwide, etc. Who wants to fake $15 - $65 jeans??? For some Asian markets maybe, to sell for some even better prices? Well, can you go and pick up one? What for??? The company has some very different and real problems, though. They discontinued their really good products, such as made in the USA, 505 rigid, extra strong Dyneema, etc. WHAT INSTEAD??? For the last two years, the new models are now more hipster-like. I’ll get some Wranglers, instead. They remain real jeans...

This is valid in the USA but not everywhere abroad. Here in Brazil a Levis 501 normally costs more than 100USD.

Fabrizio Gibin same here in Eastern Europe. But, there are businesses, that help to bring your orders from USA sites, such as Levi’s, wrangler, lee, or amazon, to your door. I used to buy clothes and shoes 2-5 times cheaper, and pay from 5 to 20 bucks delivery. Non- USA 501 cost $30-35 in that case. Just try them at your local store, and order 3 pair for the same $100. If you want to. As far as I know, there used to be domestic production in Brazil. In 1983, I wore us top brand jeans, made in Brazil. Pretty heavy denim. And it was cheap. 3500 cruzeiro, or smth alike))).

@BigRickster
@BigRickster 4 жыл бұрын
"the two horse pull" in the late 1800's Levis jeans were all "shrink to fit" material (raw denim). They were about 14 oz per square yard. The rivets made the jeans so strong because they were placed at high points of strain on the jeans. So two horses could not pull the jeans apart. I believe there is a video on here somewhere of someone testing it.
