But Ducati got so butthurt when yammie didn't like the Multistrada v4.

This was nostalgic for me, I went to these parts of the USA when I was younger. As a european it brought back loads of memories, you driving past Sequoia national park and the Meteor crate and all the roads over there. The nature is incredible in the USA and nothing like where I live in Europe. If you're a european planning to go to the USA. I definitely recommend you don't just go there for Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The national parks is where the really beauty was at for me.

I wish more foreigners understood this. They come here, stay in the cities the whole time, see how awful they are, then go home and tell everyone they know that the U.S. is a terrible place. You gotta get out of the cities and into the rural areas. See the small towns, explore the wilds. That's where the real America lives.

The "take home message" is that Harleys ARE less reliable than the vast majority of bikes. Apples to apples? I'll wager paychecks NO demo GS has ever had it's clutch shit the bed at 1200 miles........Further anecdotal info? The first 2 PAs that have been brought on ADV tours with a group I ride with have 1) Had a small electrical fire and 2) died on a trail due to a bad switch. Neither of them had more than 2000 miles ridden entirely by their owners. Harley apologists will eternally make excuses and rationalizations. There are just SOOOOOOOO many better options, especially in the ADV world.

Found the guy who's never ridden a proper ADV bike with proper tires on proper terrain in his life. Sure, you can put marbles on your commuter and get 10K miles or more, hell, go darkside and get 50!. But that's not realistic for ADV bikes doing ACTUAL ADV things. 100 miles of proper off-road/fire-road mix is equal to at least 250 highway miles (emphasis on at least). You with your marbles aren't making it 100 miles though. At least not without a broken mirror and a cracked fairing after you dumped it half a dozen times 🤣

That's quite a bit of miles per day so the bike must be comfy then. Can't imagine almost getting creamed by a car like that. I had the same response when I saw a collision happen next to me in my cage. Excited to see more offroading since that's the one part of motorcycling I haven't done much of.

I love my Pan America. I have the Dunlop Trail Max Mission tires on mine. I have 10,000 miles on them so far. They still look like they have another 1-2 thousand miles on them, but I am switching them out this week with my 15,000 mile service. They are a 50/50 tire and probably the best tire I have ever used. They perform well both on the highway and dirt/gravel roads. I don't do much motocross on my Pan America, so I can't really speak to that.

I live in Dallas Tx. and I recently did a trip to St.Louis and back over a 3 day weekend (1500 miles) Through 105+ heat, rain, muddy dirt roads(side trip to friend's ranch) etc.... Other than wearing the wrong undergarments, the trip turned out awesome. Like the ride modes, the power, lights and comfort. Even with the stock seat. I was not sore or overly fatigued. Though I did have to stop because of heat exhaustion mostly. On the way back I did 11 hours in one shot. I like riding long distance on this more than I did my Road Glide or even my Kawasaki Concours 14(Has almost 70K on it). Great experience!!! I am going to put a lot of miles on this bike!! Thanks for the video!!!

The Anakee wild isn't a bad tire by any means, it's just a bad tire choice for this bike ... unless you're spending a LOT of time in the dirt with it. The PA would be better suited with a good 90/10 or 80/20 tire for most riders, 50/50 tires are for people who take their ADV bikes on singletrack and jeep trails, not 99% pavement with the occasional dirt road.

I'd love to see how the Pan-Am stacks up against other flagship ADV's. KTM 1290 Super Adventure (or whatever it's called) comes to mind
@porkoholic
@porkoholic 2 жыл бұрын
Well when compared to other flagship advs it is pretty much at the same level as far as the features and electronics goes. But where it really falls behind is handling and chasis design because those really need years of experience to master unlike gimmicky features that can be had by just throwing some cash at it. Watch other KZbin vids that compare it to the KTM 1290 super adventure R, BMW 1250 GSA, or even Africa Twin. You'll find that Harley is wayyyyy behind.

I have a KTM1290 SA. It's one of 6 bikes I own, and its my go to for this kind of travel. I really love the idea of the Pan-Am, and it seems well sorted, but as I was watching this, all the little things (and maybe the bigger things with the front end shakes) have all been engineered out of the KTM. Its just fast, comfortable, and stable. Maybe HD will catch up quickly - I hope so, because I'd like to give the brand a chance.

@@porkoholic I would expect the AT to be better on dirt as it's basically the best heavy ADV bike on dirt, but the AT is also well known for being unreliable as shit, that 1000cc/1100cc twin is legendary for oil leaks, and is notoriously expensive to maintain a bit of an oddity for Japanese bikes. I would expect the PA to be outperformed by the GSA and SA but should be close.

Those sweet dirt roads at 20:30 I recently figured out are actually fire breaks to protect the hills from roadside vehicle-induced fire. We have them in Idaho and Oregon, and I felt like an idiot when I realized what they were. Like you, my thought was, man those are some sweet off-road trails! But I almost never saw ruts or tire tracks in them. Then, my first time driving an 18 wheeler past them, it dawned on me, and I added a wrinkle to my smooth brain. Now you know too!
