I have the original OG formula Dreams. There is no wheel today that I can compare it to. I have only skated it on painted blue concrete and it is by far the best mix of grip and skid I have ever skated. It only skids if I want it to and it make a high pitched screech that no other wheel I’ve skated produces. It also rolls out better than a lot of 62mm wheels and when I fast shuffle around the edges I have to constantly scrub speed to keep from running up on the lines without trying. It’s an amazing wheel. I can’t speak on the newer formula, as I haven’t skated it, but this is by far my favorite wheel compound when the floor is clean. I always bring another set of wheels just in case the floor is dirty.

This is a great review. I appreciate the history and context. Definitely way more in-depth than a lot of Roller skate content on KZbin.

I used the all American dream wheels found 1 problem with them the wheels would walk off the hubs needed two snap rings. You are right about the shiny lettering on the wheels mine have have shiny metal like writing. Vanguard did make a wheel with inner and outer snap rings they were called Excaliburs.

Just got these on a new pair of VNLA V-line skates, transitioning from an older pair of vanilla jam skates with large wide speed wheels. I've only had two sessions on them so far, mine defintely have some wobble, was a little dismayed at the quality... What an entirely different world and feel, going to take a while to get used to, but I'm already liking it!

Is there anything you can use to make your wheels slippery again after cleaning
@rollerskateuniverse67632 жыл бұрын
They should start sliding again after a half hour or so

Are the original dreams significantly better than the re-makes? I see the re-makes going for $140 and the vintage for $300 - $500.

Why does it have a snap ring if the hub is not removable?
@40xoz3 жыл бұрын
I just got these, but the metal hub rubs and grinds on my aruis plate. I had to put washers to make them work, but it scrubs off speed. Any suggestions?
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
2 piece wheels do not play well with the arius or roll line plates, put a washer on the axle behind each wheel, that will give some extra space

Hello, I skate pretty well but I’m not a big on too much slip, can you recommend a wheel that’s not too slippery but won’t grip the floor preventing me from doing certain things. I appreciate your input.

Vanathane rental wheels are perfect for that! Atom tones work pretty well I'm told, but I still need to test those

So I recently went in my mother's attic found my old skates from high school years 1978 the wheels are true vanathane with the V above the m they've been in her attic all those years and in 100% good shape, and my two younger brothers skates also now have their skates with vanathane also, so now I have a total combined of five sets,with 3 brothers 1 sister I'm the only one rolling.

If the formula is that porous, will they readily accept RIT synthetic dye? If so, could have any color you would want.

Not exactly... if you're looking for a Detroit open house wheel, fomac premiere. Cali slide, go with wood or fiber

@@rollerskateuniverse6763 What's the difference between Detroit sliding and Cali sliding?
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
@@DLinton originally being from Michigan, I've been around Detroit sliding most of my life. The setups differ greatly. Detroit uses a more traditional setup using fomacs and typically does open house sliding, which is almost like a drift event on skates into a designated corner on the floor at full speed. Cali sliding is just sliding around at moderate speeds, uses smaller wheels, dress shoe builds and fiber wheels

While I not would recommend machining your genuine vanathane wheels yourself, a brief exposure to small quantities of asbestos is unlikely to cause any ill-health effects. I gently WET scrubbed my vintage orange vanathane wheels with S.O.S. pads and they came out bright and clean. Water should arrest almost any chance of particles becoming airborne.

What sucks is the slop in the bearings when u tighten them to the truck axles,u can still wiggle them side to side & this is w/rollerbones & reds,if u tighten to get rid of it the wheel spins slow,I gonna try to add a shim ,dont see anyone mention this,I just got back into skating & bought 2 riedells & 2 Bonts & hate this ,surprised the industry is this sloppy.
