I second this entirely. They're lathed unevenly and wobble, but they skate good and you don't really feel it when you're on them. For a starter "slick" wheel, and for the price, can't beat em. These are my backup wheels; they were my stepping stone on the way to fomacs.

Can confirm alignment issues, I had 2 that where off enough to be noticeable immediately. was pleasantly surprised to discover it has no impact on the skating experience.

Your rink looks nice. Where is that? Also nice skating. My favorite wheel was the All American Plus and I’d say these are exactly the same as those. I LOVE them, and two years later they may have corrected the flaws.

What is the hardness if you would put a number on them 94a? 96a? What do you think doesn't have to be correct just close enough because I like the wheel but I want just a little more slip on my wheel and I'm buying some rollerbones and wanted a start point that was like what I feel on the velvets

Thank you so much for the review! I enjoyed watching this review. I saw that you replied to Toye Johnson, saying that the Velvets feel like a 100A. In comparison to the Royals. . . I guess I should ask first, if you have tried the Royals? The Royals are a 101A, and I feel like I'm not getting any slip with the Royals. I also have the Fames, which are a 97A... In comparison I also have a hard time with getting these to do a 3-turn (In fact, the Royals grip more than the Fames). The wheels grab the floor, forcing me to do a partial manual. The rinks that I go to are wood. I thought about perhaps pre-powdering my wheels, to see if I can get any slip. I also have Phenolics, which allow me to spin and slide, without having to do manuals. So, I'm thinking about just going with a traditional wood wheel to get the spins/3-turns. I guess I should also say that I want to be able to keep all four wheels on the floor, without having to do a front or back manual to get the spins/3-turns. I have years of ice skating background, after living in Alaska. So, to get into my spins, I don't feel comfortable doing a manual, especially on one foot. With that said, do you have any experience with Woods and Phenolics? As I said, I do have Phenolics, but I do not like the size of the wheels. I would have liked a 57mm wheel. But, woods only come in 50mm at the biggest. and the Phenolics are like. . . 32mm. I have thought about getting the Roll Line 60D 57mm wheels. However, after seeing the durometer comparison chart, I feel like they also would not be worth it, and seeing how the pros like Luca Lucaroni have to get into a manual to do a flying camel spin, I'm not feeling it. Perhaps I'm just needing to go back to ice skating. However, since returning to So. Cal, I find that I have no nearby ice rinks or frozen lakes or ponds to skate on. So, here I am, trying to find a wheel that will give me freedom to spin with all four wheels on the ground, like an ice skate. I also do not want a rollerblade, or inline skates. Thank you again. I would love to hear your suggestions and pointers.

The Velvets are slicker than any hardness of urethane wheel because it's a different material. But they're only a 55mm. And still might not be quite enough slip to suit you, although I really did enjoy them when I was skating on them regularly. I think you'd like my main wheels I use: Fo-Mac Freestyle If the Velvets are 80% grip/20% slip, these are 70/30. And they're a dream. You'll absolutely be able to do 3 turns in them without doing a manual. They're a dream, and don't have the wobble that the Velvets have, if that's something that bothers you. And they're 57mm. The other lines of Fo-Mac wheels are a little slicker still (I've heard 60/40) and are 55-57mm. I don't think you'd have any problem skating those either, since you can skate on phenolics.

@@SJisReading thank you so much!!! Your post is a gem! I feel like I can make an confident purchase now. Obviously, some people can get their wheels to work wonders for them... But, I know what I can and can't get out of a wheel. So, having this type of information really helps when I'm making a decision! I'll definitely keep you in the loop, after I've tried them!!!

@@Krisstofers Very happy to help! I love this style of wheel and feel I can't skate right on urethane wheels (I can, after an adjustment period.... But I'm spoiled). Looking forward to seeing how they work for you. I'd hate for you to give up on roller skating because you couldn't find the right wheels.

I just bought the V-line boot after your review and I like it. My husband and I put one of my old plates on it. It came out good. I like the boot. What is your opinion of rollerbones?
@rollerskateuniverse67633 жыл бұрын
The rollerbones teams wheels are a great wheel, I have 2 sets and am in the process of doing a thorough review of them in both 98a and 101a. The rollerbones bearings are also a great value for the price. Can't really go wrong with their products!
