Love this. Part 2 would be great. Tips on rolling it back up again. I think if I buy longer straps it will be easier but hard on my own. The bag is great, heaps of room. Mine didn’t come with Velcro but a nice sturdy zip. I’ve also seen tips on stopping the sides from falling in when setup. What do you use?

Ah yes good point! Packing up is probably the harder part. My tip for packing up: 1. Where possible do it with two people! 2. If you have a self-inflating mattress, squeeze the air out of it first, then flatten out and roll up all together. Next time we get the swags out I'll make a follow up video! Thanks for watching Renae

Great review with just the right amount of detail. Do you reckon the swags would fit or have any issues with housing a couple of camp stretchers? My wife has dodgy knees (total replacement) so getting up and down off the ground is not an option. She needs a foot or two elevation. Self inflating mattress looks good. We just got back from camping with a regular blow-up mattress on the stretchers and it had a slow leak. btw where are you camping? Looks awesome. Cheers.

I don’t think you’d fit a stretcher inside them simple due to head room, but I have seen people put them up on top of stretchers before. I guess it would be a matter of finding a queen size stretcher. We shot this video in Blackdown Tablelands; we’ve got a video on our channel. It’s a beautiful place!

@@dreamtripaus Thanks. Have since been looking at versions of the OZ Trail 30 second tent. Lots of headroom and easy to setup. Blackdown Tablelands now added as a place to go someday. Enjoy your travels. Cheers.

We had an Oz Tent RV4 for years it was awesome! Loved that tent and the after-sales service is impeccable. We had a corner hinge break and they sent a replacement ( or maybe even 2) for free!

I have the same swag and was looking at getting the self inflatable mattress you have just wondering how you go rolling it up to fit in the bag? Is it hard?

The bags we have are the wanderer ones from BCF, they are plenty big enough. We roll up the mattress first to get the air out of it, then flatten it out to roll it up inside the swag. It fits easy! Even with the original foam mattress inside.

How do you remove the air out of the self inflating mattress? Do you fold/roll it to take the air out of it then place back in the swag, rolling it up with the swag ? As I have a bad back and a side sleeper, I need extra mattress support. The mattress that came with the swag, even after 3 weeks, still hasn't fully taken its shape (after the rolled compression it was supplied with). So I ordered a 23Zero mattress as the reviews seem great. But am also thinking of the self inflation mattress also. Your feed back would be much appreciated.

Yes we roll up the self-inflating mattress to squeeze all the air out, then screw the bungs back in and unroll it out flat. Then we roll the whole lot up inside the swag. Takes a bit longer but it’s worth it for a good night sleep

I’ve been eyes these kind of tents for a while. What some drawbacks and pros that you can think of? These swags just come to the USA in the past few years or less.

They are great! Pros: - very quick to set up - freestanding, ie don't need to peg them down unless you're expecting high winds (I always peg them down though) - once they have been 'weathered' they can withstand severe storms! - everything including mattress and bedding can be rolled up inside them, especially if you keep them in a swag bag making set up and pack down very quick and transporting your gear nice and easy - very, very cost-effective - queen-sized mattress included, heaps of space inside - the walls open up completely for the best star-gazing on a hot night Cons: -they are low to the ground which makes it difficult for some people to get in and out - we've found the poles not to be very strong, we've had several break. All have been replaced free of charge though. - They are still quite large once rolled up, especially the double swag. You would need roof racks, a ute or a trailer - They are not waterproof when rolled up, if you're transporting them on the roof of the car you would need to put them in a waterproof bag to keep them dry inside. - The supplied mattress, whilst pretty good, was not thick enough for my wife. We got one of their self-inflating mattresses to replace it.

@@dreamtripaus another question sorry! Thanks for that info regarding to poles, do you think you can do a diy make a new pole that is made from stronger or better quality for the swag? That is one thing that I see being a con due to the weight of the canvas as well the price is kind of steep here in the USA still( tariffs). I find Aus backcountry gear really unique like goshawk gear. Second question did you make a seasoning for the canvas or use a over the counter waterproofing
@dreamtripaus
@dreamtripaus 8 ай бұрын
You can buy after-market poles that are stonger, I believe you can buy carbon fiber poles! We simply seasoned them by drenching them on a sunny day and letting them dry. We do this over and over to force the stitching in the seams to swell. Once they've swelled we don't get any more water in! I have heard other people using a waterproofing spray but you need to make sure you weather them before you use the spray (from what I've heard).
