Goo Gone also has to sit on the sticky area for 10 minutes to work its magic. If you let it dissolve the glue, you won't even need to rub, just wipe it off. It worked like that on a VERY stubborn ugly glue stain on my wooden floor left by a carpet tape. It was there for 10 years, and finally I found out about Goo Gone, and the ugliness was removed in less than 15 minutes! Thank you for this video anyway, Jamey, people like you are the backbone of the original, educational part of KZbin.

I'll add to the advice. Forget the Acetone, it will destroy many plastics and other materials. As for the oil based products, best to apply and let it soak for several minutes.. Take a small piece of paper towel, place if on the spot and soak it. Let it sit then wipe away.

I have used de-solv-it for YEARS for many sticky cleaning needs around the house. I just spray it on the surface and let it sit for a few minutes before wiping off. Also, for removing labels, I found the following trick works well. Heat the surface (hair dryer works well). This makes the glue soften and the label releases easily. Then treat the sticky residue with de-solv-it. An added bonus for de-solv-it is that it is organic, biodegradable, and has a "pleasant" citrus smell.

Sticky Stuff is awesome as it totally works and won't craze acrylic or plexiglass. I'd like to see what it would do in an ultrasonic cleaner (if I were a rich man) - probably rupture the Space Time continuum. Note that you can pour Sticky Stuff onto the glue residue and let it sit for a couple of minutes. Then the glue comes off as smooth as a cashmere codpiece.

The desolve it would work, however the trick is to spray it & leave it for a few minutes before you rub it off.

You didn't have anything wet enough or leave it on long enough to remove the adhesive. De Solvit is a wonderful product and works much better than Goo Gone.

DeSolvit is Exxsol D80. D40 is White Spirit.

HG Sticker remover needs to be applied with a brush then leave for ten minutes. Just saying that as it does work well when used correctly.

Jeez I threw away my HG stain remover as soon as I opened due to the smell thinking it was damaged or defect 😩 Now I badly need it to remove window draft protector glue .

Those Ikea labels will fall off if left to soak in water for a few minutes. I've never met one that didn't.

Your supposed to leave the de solv it on for 5 minutes not use it straight from the tin and expect miracles!

Doing it all wrong mate. You put sticky stuff remover on then let it sit for least 10 mins, then it will all come off including the residue
