It was a beautiful city, & really sad to see the city becoming like this
My bf lived in SF for 20 years. I moved in with him just right before the pandemic. In 2020, both our cars got broke into twice (we lived in a safe neighborhoods next to pacific heights). That was the pivotal moment for us to move out from SF. It's so sad to see what happened to this lively city. So many good restaurants, shops, museums and culture. Now we lived in 30 mins south from the city. We do miss the city life occasionally but glad we moved away. The mayor and politics are just a shit show. Pls don't waste taxpayers money on nonsense.

@@what_if_I_were_wrong agreed. I’ve always supported Democratic Party, unfortunately SF is just gone far too left what it should be. It took them so many years just to add a subway from China town to downtown. Don’t even know how many years have past the subway is still not ready. However, in the past 5 years the city invested 3.5 billion for homeless. It’s a shit show. Wtf is the gov doing? Feel like SF needs a republican party to fix the problems so we can have our city back.

SF native here. FYI, the aunties selling those canned goods and misc food items mostly get them from donation bins and other "free" sources. This has been going on for decades... Their safety is an obvious concern, but at the same time it isn't a great idea to try and make a profit off of donated goods.
Hey, I live in bay are and I hate to accept the bad side of the city. However, your honest footage described well what the city is really is... thanks for sharing this.

I remember growing up in a Midwest small town in the 90s. Things were peaceful, going to SF in the 90s to visit family friends was a real treat. Went there at 2015, I already saw a difference in the homeless situations. Now, it's way beyond just homeless. It's drugs, theft, gun violence, and the list goes on

The US started going downhill much quicker since the 2008 financial crash. But the warning signs were there all along. Remember what happened when a hurricane destroyed New Orleans while the US was busy waging war in Iraq. The drugs, homelessness, gun violence has just multiplied and spread to cities not previously known for having these issues. E.g., look at San Diego now. It's just the same as San Francisco.
@minge9 Жыл бұрын
Instead of starting war everywhere, the government should really look internally first. It's such a shame, US don't give a f about their citizen.

I visited SF twice both over a week and I can clearly feel it. First time was back in 2015 everything was nice and had some really joyful tourist thing. The second visit was in 2018 for business. When I explore the town I saw medical needles in metro station, smell of weeds on train, hearing operators urging people to stop smoking and Crackhead yelling inside starbucks restroom. Really need to fix the issue and stop all those political shows
I went to high school in Santa Cruz in the 80s (a boarding school) and i have relatives and my godparents all live in San Francisco so I would go there for weekends and stuff. San Francisco was one of my favorite cities. Very sad to see how its doing now, thanks for your video, and hope SF gets better real soon

I explicitly do not allow my parents to visit SF these days, nor Oakland for that matter. It's sad but necessary. SF and Chinatown bring back so much lovely memories of my younger days but the area has changed drastically for the worse. The liberal state and city government don't care and the deterioration is so evident. SF is not safe and hasn't been so for quite a few years now.
Oakland, CA in East Bay, which is half an hour away by Bart or drive across Bay Bridge, is a lot worse😮. Think twice before u go there. Even in broad day light, U would need bodyguards with firearms to walk around to do recording there. No joke! Another dangerous area is Tenderloin nearby downtown. Drugs are sold in public area with a lot of homeless and drug users/ criminals there too.

it is very easy to understand, those big cities in United States are wealthy and safe, as long as you got money. Lowest and Middle class are being ruined. Politicians are chasing votes but doing nothing practical. the shooting case you mentioned about should be at North Beach Area, which is Italian Town and a few blocks away from the fruit-store that you were interviewing people. It still has some night-clubs there (many of them were closed up). Those night-clubs have many issues at night, substance, got drunk, fights, etc. United States is not united! Every neighborhood has different communities and pretty much they only concern about their issues and feel not much interest in others honestly! Safety? it is not good for seniors. Move out of state? It has always other issues as well! System problem of this country. Love your video anyway. Thank You!

used to live in that's beautiful city's over 10 years, and have been back for a few times, but I had the worst experience in downtown San Francisco on my last visit. Hello all, local resident here.

Torres. It is not that they don’t know about the gun accident. It’s just that it can happen frequently. Also they don’t want you to talk about this thing happening near to their stores. If you talk about it, ppl find out and wont shop in their neighborhood. It is sad and people are starting to get distanced to each other, in my opinion. People usually don’t openly talk about certain issues anymore. It’s getting to a point that there’s no use to talk about it cause no one can really solve the problem of expensive living expenses even to the basic which is having a house or a space like a box size, just to call it a house. People keep jacking up prices on everything. So some people just left behind. They got old. They got addicted to drugs. They give up. They don’t care about their lives. They also don’t care about other people’s live. It’s a very sad situation. I could be wrong but seems like, right the situation is deteriorating. It is not as safe as in hongkong. So what do u think about the society in US. Is it giving you confidence as you see on the news or financial news? How do you compare it to other cities around the world?

HK and China is a lot safer. Many people in HK (especially during the 2019? riots) stupidly praised America and the west but don't understand their life under HK government is a lot better. In America people are jealous of China that's why we spread bad news online and social media about China. Many bad news about China are fake just to make America better. But in fact the issues in America is because of the government. The only way to get rid of inflation and housing issues is do what China did. Make ghost cities and build more apartments so housing is no longer a demand. When population increase and housing is shortage rent usually go up due to demand. If you did what China did build more than needed so the demand is not there the house prices becomes less. That's the only way to fight inflation. That's why China inflation rate last year was only 2% compared to US or UK inflation rate of 10 or more percent. Yes the west don't want to praise how China controlled inflation so you will not hear about it in the media the same way you will not hear how China controlled homeless or how they got rid of poverty or drug addictions. All an issue in America.
