To Hell with the Devil was the 3rd studio album from Stryper. It was the first Christian metal album to achieve platinum status, which means sales of one million copies. 3 Videos were produced for the album and they played heavily on MTV. The highest ranking single was "Honestly" and it peaked at #23 on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. A piece of trivia, the album went through 2 bass players before a session musician (Brad Cobb) finished doing the album. He however he did not join the band.

I remember the controversial LP "To Hell With The Devil" by "Stryper" 1986 A time, a new & strong uprising in Christian Heavy Metal for those of us strong in His Spirit and wearing the Armor of God wearing (his stripes) in which he bore on the cross for his children. Always waring against demonic principalities unseen in image, but in spirit. The Devil is real folks be prepared to fight & claim your place with the Father. I got to speak with Mike Yrs ago for over an hour, making him Late for Set-Up lol He said he could talk to someone like ME all day long and wanted to talk after the Show. I had on a sSryper T-Shirt when talking to him and he Knew Stryper was my FAV Band Until Def Leppard's Hysteria Album came out. When the show started I switched my T-Shirt to Def Leppard and all thru the Show he kept pointing at me and smiling..cuz he KNEW that Stryper was and still is 1 of my 3 FAV Bands...The Other 2 being Def Leppard and Guns N Roses..Now I can say VOLBEAT!!! Thx Mikey for All the Free things you guys gave me that Y'all signed also! Great Stories we chatted about....

1986 I turned 12. Got a digital clock radio for my birthday. 9 pm Focus on the Family with James Dobson came on...telling us all about the evils of heavy metal with it's "Satanic Beat"; so of course I loved it-- much to my mothers' horror! LOL Stryper, Angelica, Vengeance Rising, Fluffy, Tourniquet, Mortification, etc. became my teenage staples

I'm an apostate christian (I believe in a God of love, just not the Bible on account of it being preposterous nonsense - in fact Christianity isn't even a proper religion, it's just a hodgepodge of Judaic Essenism and paganism) but these guys are such awesome musicians and remain one of my favorite bands from back when I was churchy
