Bobby Vega Is my hero. Sweet playing. He could make a tin can with a string sound good.

Bobby Vega is Da Man! I'm picking up a Custom Shop '55 NOS P-Bass tomorrow. If it sounds half as good as this one, I'll be ecstatic.

Awesome playing! Just goes to show what a talented player can do with the simplest of basses.

I know this vid's old but....he is such a joy to watch. So chill, so cozy, just....very 'home-y'. Definitely among my absolute favorite bassists. Makes all those tricks look so damn easy too!

it was actually called precision in 1956. This is the first version of Precision. Later, in the 70's they reissued this look and called it Telecaster bass :)

Because he has never marketed himself as a frontman or solo act. He is first and foremost a session player and now he goes around and does masterclasses as well. It's no one's fault, he just never tried to represent himself as the big guitar hero.
@MrMicalo7 жыл бұрын
very difficult to be famous being a bass player... !
@thewomble15096 жыл бұрын
Being famous means nothing. The number of top artists he has played for speaks for itself. He is a go to session and tour man.

does anyone know how he does the low E not on 1.30, he just sort of waves his hand away from the bass and half a second later the whole thing starts vibrating i've seen bobby do it before and it's just a beautiful sound, shows his absolute mastery over the instrument
@jjossephh4 жыл бұрын
he plucks the string hard sideways with his thumb, closer the neck than the bridge. Because he plucks closer the center of the string, it does not create as many higher harmonics - it generates only the low tone which you don't hear as loud - and because he plucks it sideways, the string does not hit the frets and make a clanking sound. Then, over the course of a second or so, the vibration of the string changes direction (which will always happen because you cannot pluck a string perfectly in one direction), so it begins hitting the frets as it vibrates up and down, which makes higher harmonics of the string ring out. All of this happens very fast, but that is what creates the swell effect

Amazing playing, as always. Bobby, you're fan-bloody-tastic! Great tone, too. What strings were/are on that bass (if you remember)?

With all due respect but, using a pick and round wound strings on a 56 Precision calls for an anvil across the forehead..
