Well, the cube itself is an architect. Who the hell puts more than 200.000 square metres of screens inside to simulate the outside. It takes about 3 small power plants to run those (24/7) It has unused space, and is build to keep rich and poor separate. It is just stupid. With that kind of money you could achieve so much more....

A fix for the range issue is to elevate the district center and have the path connect half way up the tower. You can have the center be one district and the stuff on the ground floor be a other district. "They choose not to live in those houses for whatever reason". It's because it's in the wrong district. You need. A district gate in the middle of the tower to differentiate the two district.

I absolutely love engineering! As an engineer myself, I find it so fulfilling to know that I can use the knowledge and skills I have to help solve the world's problems. I love the feeling of being a part of something bigger than myself. Engineering allows us to come up with innovative solutions to improve our lives. I have found great joy in coding and creating tangible products with my engineering know how. Engineering has allowed me to broaden my horizons and expand my understanding of the world. It has also opened up opportunities for me to become a leader in my field and make a lasting impact. Kudos to everyone who loves engineering and strives to use it for the betterment of all!

ooh, i love the idea of scrapping district limits, i have had times where, i just need to build a dam or something far away, but it only needs to be build once, so i have to set up an entire separate district just to do this one thing, it kind of limits you early game until you unlock all the stuff for the second districts
@Trendyflute
@Trendyflute Жыл бұрын
yeah it makes more sense with this update for sure! Still have districts because they're still the centers, but you can more organically place them based on the map without that pesky limit. For instance I made a map with two valleys that I want to railroad between and not having to put a middle district to build the second valley is gonna be soooo nice.

I don't fully mind district limits, but the distribution posts aren't intuitive and there isn't a lot of in-game information about them. Understanding worker queuing, storage limits on the distribution and receiving sides, having to manually set zeros for EVERY item you don't want to receive to avoid the outposts from getting filled with other random goods that prevent them from receiving actual food and water... even if you get all of that right, your new district might be so far from your established colony that goods aren't making it there in time to support the population, which doesn't seem any different from the new unlimited district's drawbacks. Which, I see they are also potentially improving goods distribution in the new update, so I'm looking forward to that moreso than unlimited districts!

I would honestly love to see a season of Timberborners that's entirely focused on building a megastructure "properly". Matt really hasn't played around that much with verticality in Timberborn, and I think that could be fun. EDIT: Is there a way to have water on top of buildings without them breaking, or would you need a mod for that?
@hardyorange
@hardyorange Жыл бұрын
Probably a mod; you'd need a way to keep water from flowing off the roof, and vanilla dam, levee, floodgate, and ground blocks can't be placed on top of other buildings. I actually haven't seen anyone use, say, the backs of houses in place of levee blocks yet, but I haven't been in the community long enough to know if you could do that or not.

I like to point out it said the beavers are only 1.5ft tall when standing but RCE went with 3ft meaning that everything is at ½ scale
@QuantumWaltz
@QuantumWaltz Жыл бұрын
No? The 1.5-foot height is a standard beaver's height, which is to say, foot-to-shoulder as is standard height measurement for a quadruped. The 3-foot height RCE went with was the head+body _length_ of a standard North American Beaver (the tail adds another foot, but wouldn't be used in a bipedal standing creature's height.) He IS making the whole thing at 1/20th scale, though, because he handwaved his limitations by claiming the beavers were "giant beavers" when he realized his 1-meter-tall beaver for scale left him with a Cube too large for the map height. He settled on 20x20x20 (levees) for the Cube, so if the "giant beavers" aren't 10 meters tall and are actually normal North American Beavers, the Cube's 1/20th the size it would be if it were full-scale.
@censors_starve
@censors_starve Жыл бұрын
@@QuantumWaltz bro he literally went and said that they are 3ft or 1.5ft when standing upright. And then stated that the block was twice as big as the beaver was making it 2m or about 6ft. According to him. So yes he did mess up and think the blocks are twice the size meaning even with scaling it down he was still ½ the scale he thought he was at. Edit: he stated the block was twice the height when compared to a beaver who was standing next to it.

So, I've noticed that you don't typically use the layers controls to hide upper layers. I imagine the "Cuuuuuuuuube" (tm) might benefit from that feature quite a bit. Also, completely missed opportunity to use "Beavgineering". Last item, I'm not sure if district gates can be built underneath platforms (not that it will matter once the update drops), but you can give "Cuuuuuuuuube" (tm) rooftop dwellers housing if it can.

3-4 ft long, 1-1.5 ft tall when on all fours, like real beavers, but with the timberborn beavers being bipedal, the length would be treated as the height. The same principle as not saying a person is 6 ft long, you say tall, because we're bipedal. So they would be about a meter tall.
