It appears he was a "person of interest" from the beginning, once people realized this was not a woman who'd have disappeared willingly, had been a victim of injury/illness/accident/etc. Once detectives realized she simply wasn't anywhere else, there was no other suspect. Sometimes there is a prime person of interest or suspect, often for years, but having enough evidence to convict at trial is key.

It should’ve never been treated as if she ran away because the only person saying she did shouldn’t have been anywhere near her to make those claims in the first place. They didn’t investigate the man at all, just said he had an alibi and left it at that until his friend visited him in prison. You obviously would start investigating his close associates if you were investigating him at all. If they’d been on it like they should’ve been from the beginning they may have been able to retrieve her body. Did they even check phone records? I’m sure he spoke to those people a lot.

I question the theme here that these criminals make "mistakes" for which they are caught. Large chunks of their lives are completely off the map morally. They are more giant walking mistakes than they are people. In both these cases, it's cops and the justice system who make mistakes repeatedly until they finally get just enough right to stop these malicious killers. The most compelling puzzle portrait at the end is not of some interesting killer, but of universities,police departments and courts that could prevent these cases ever materializing, if they'd just have better policies about dealing with the abuse of women, be they physically threatened wives or university students with assault complaints.

I honestly hate when people equate horrible men to nature's killers. Predators in nature, are VERY aware of the surroundings, of the other prey animals, or the landscape, etc, because they need to be successful to survive, & even the apex predators of the world have low success rates pretty often, but also because if they screw up & get wounded, they could die from that. And while there has always been some confusion about humans & animals, serial killers aren't apex predators, they are monsters, & while there are animals that use violence & even war within their own lives, like some chimpanzee groups, & there are even animals that will rape other animals, like ducks, we humans have the most opportunities to analyze the world, & so when we choose to be monsters, its far worse than an animal hunting to live.

The dude didn't make a mistake. If there is no plan or scheme, you can't make a mistake anyways. He was just lucky for a long time until his luck ran out. But it goes to show how long you can go undetected even if you don't clean up after your murder. However, that window of luck gets smaller and smaller with improvements in forensics. One of the most recent advances is creating face images from DNA. That makes it harder and harder to go undetected if you are sloppy and it increases the required cleaning effort if you have a plan for the murder. That won't prevent crimes in the future, but there is an increased chance to catch a perpetrator before the second murder.

Considering the number of people who faint from heat or get hurt in scuffles or falls at big events, it baffles me that there isn't some kind of first aid station to attend to the sick and injured. After all, amusement parks have them. Zoos have them. Such a thing might have saved Hannah. Police, documentary makers often use actors/models as stand ins for people who have their identity protected, record the interview and get someone else to read the words like a script. Lastly they add the sound and video together later. The Laws in the UK, Scotland, Canada, and Australia are quite different than in the US when given a Life Setence? I read about a Murder Case where the guy Served a minimum of 7 years! Proving Insanity isn't as difficult and when Psychiatrists deem the Patient Sane, they are released back into the public, instead of transferring them into a Prison to serve their Sentence. This Husband clearly Conspired and Pre-Meditated the Murder of his wife, destroying her corpse and Evidence which additional Charges should have been added to his Original Charges? Not only this, he previously attempted to Murder her by means of strangulation. However, she was able to fight back, filing Charges obtaining a Protective Order and Divorce papers. This is the most Critical and Dangerous time for a Woman who suffers from DV! Victims are at the Highest Risk of becoming Murder Victims and need Protection when they press charges, or file for Protective Orders, or Divorce? His Cowardly Accomplices actually got away with Being Charged and Prison Sentences! Shame on Prosecutors! These Cowards committed Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder! I wonder if they're Father's? Arlene was so pretty. Sure a wonderful Mom & just deserved so so much better than that bag of rotten flesh. Hope her children grew up with love, happiness, empathy & compassion. My dad was an alcoholic but kept his engineering job till we were in last few yrs of HS when Mom divorced him. But my Mom was hardworking & educated, mostly any time he tried to fight with her, if he didn’t run she would whip his but*, she was an ex farm girl, just very strong & quick! We learned from her & none of us girls married an alcoholic or abuser. Rest in heaven’s beauty & love Arlene. 🙏❤️

almost 40 years ago a friend of mine unlifed herself and left only a song playing on repeat , Metallica's song Fade to Black , she was being abused by her step father and was pregnant by him and forced to have an abortion and lied to her mother that is was a nother male that did it , she took her life and left that song playing , read the words and understand what she was saying , missing one inside of me .....shes gone and he never was brought to justice

You can't be tried twice if you have been found innocent in the first trial. Many convicted people are let out of jail on technicalities, have their convictions overturned, and are retried by the prosecutors.

So whoever is at working the front door at that arena turned a young woman who is obviously bleeding from the head away and didn’t have her come in and sit down with staff as they called 9-1-1?!?!?! Gross negligence! That would’ve saved her life. I’d sue them so hard if I was her family. And her friends weren’t real friends. Because if it were me that happened to and was stuck outside and told friends I’d go back to the hotel, my friends would’ve immediately told me to stay right there and they would’ve come straight out there to take me back so I wouldn’t be going alone. And I would’ve done the same for my friends. But none of us would’ve been walking around anywhere by ourselves to begin with so there would’ve been 2 of us out there together at least. Young people are not careful these days. Never go anywhere alone. It isn’t safe.

It’s infuriating to me that the rape allegations were never investigated thoroughly or punished. If they had been reported perhaps those two young women wouldn’t have been murdered and the victim in Fairfax wouldn’t have been SA. The University’s are to blame. JPJ arena should not have sent a young woman out into the night by herself when she may have been seriously injured. I’m sure her friends feel guilty but I for one wouldn’t allow anyone in my company alone there’s safety in numbers. Maybe I’m wrong but I come from the “friends take care of friends school”

WHAT I can't understand is how did this boy become so evil that even it's parent or parents did NOT realize he was 'out-of-control' with his demeanor, chasing after young girls for his sexual pleasure is outrageous. Surely, the parent(s) were aware their son was NOT NORMAL. They should have seeked help for his problem or educated him of the rights and wrong things in life at an early age. Every parent should do that with their children explaining the consequences of their uncontrolled actions. We need to take responsibility as parents. Young girls out alone surely, they would know better. Being well educated doesn't seem to work and wearing limited clothing that attracts the opposite sex is a danger to themselves. Parents with daughters need to be stricter about letting their daughters walk alone - there's 'bad wolf's' prowling in the forest, BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!!
