Billy G had a girlfriend who lived in Memphis. They often came into the restaurant I worked in. Billy liked to call in orders for grilled vegetables to go. The chef always had me grill his vegetables. I sorta felt like Billy's personal chef. Billy is such a down-to-earth, cool guy. He drove an old 60s convertible LeSabre. It wasn't restored or custom, so it did not stand out. He blended into the Memphis scene and few people ever knew he was here.

When I was a high school senior in 1976, never, in a million years, would I have guessed that Darryl Hall and Billy Gibbons would be jamming a legendary rock tune in 2024 that I had not even heard of yet. I saw ZZ Top in concert before "Afterburner" was released. I'm dating myself for sure. When I moved out on my own, I played ZZ Top when the guys visited. I played Hall & Oates when the gals visited ("Kiss on my List" was my favorite). There is a time and place for everything. That was back in the day when folks had neat rows of vinyl albums stacked against the wall (mine numbered roughly 600 total) and a pair of waist high speakers aimed at the sofa. Back when you met new friends and painstakingly rifled through their album collection, setting aside the ones to be played, front to back. It was a social/cultural event that often included a smoky haze. Music appreciation was the theme and the 70s was the music equivalent of the Cambrean Explosion. You can thank Sgt. Peppers for getting that culture started. When music became more than something to dance to, but something to be carefully listened to. What albums did I listen to the most? "Sad Wings of Destiny" (A true masterpiece), "The White Album", "Tres Hombres", "Machine Head", "The Cars", "Cosmic Dancer", "Rocks", "The James Gang", "R.E.O./Two", "Equinox", "Future Blues", "The Guess Who: Live at the Paramount". Cripes....way too many to list.

They kicked me out of Facebook because I published obscene comments of a kind...if they are for a good action...oh good Lord have mercy and forgive my terrible sins...😢😢😢at least you can agree with me, we love to live as retarded ones, beyond the birth date, ZZ Top tracks are teenage forever... that's the point 🎉🎉❤🎉🎉
